I was expecting to see Lithia. He called out Lithia recently as being the best dealership. Also David Abrams and Greg Alexander have significant positions in Lithia

on his wagon funds website he lists only 10 companies. I see that ARCH does not appear there, CONSOL was trimmed down to just 4%, and there are a few other differences. Where can we find the filing you are presenting?

I’ve always seen Pabrai making those weird out of pocket and (a lot of times) cyclical investments. But this one is a lot more straightforward- somewhat obvious value position for a large dependable brand…. Target fair price for decent returns around $90/share.

Monish goes in and out of stocks. I wouldn't follow his strategy.

I just put 3.3% of my portfolio in Monish's fund. He has a proven track record of finding and investing in great foreign value. Well worth the 1.25% expense ratio imo.
    Thanks for the video Justin!

I've heard mixed reviews about his track record. I agree with all his rationale and the idea of expanding his market to find deals. However, I've heard that his historical returns are equivalent to the S&P 500 because of some years where he made mistakes.

Who is buying such a crap fund?

  • @cookiejar01

Yet another Mohnish pick that seems to be compounding its way to zero. He really seems to have learned nothing from Charlie and keeps buying these potential value traps PayPal, coal miners, etc. Mohnish talks like he's a Buffett and Munger follower, but he invests Ben Graham style. I wonder what his track record is on the current fund? Is that why he's starting a new fund?!

    • @mirkosprangers5879

He readily admits he's not at their thinking and skill level yet. His talks are always great, but one can't copy another man' conviction.
This is the PWF though, not his main fund, which is way more concentrated and international focussed

You should research properly before making such a statement about Monish Pabrai. Take AMR as an example: he buys MET COAL miners not just "regular" coal miners. If we like it or not, met coal is essential in the steel producing process and can't be replaced that easily. He bought into AMR when it was in the 200s, today it's 300 (it even shot up to over 400 a couple days ago). And it's on Greenblatt's stock screener as well ...

idk what your talking about he got a 30x on reysas and the coal bets all seemed to have made money at this point. even his micron bet made money from the time he bought to the time he sold.

How so? nice stable business, I dont see how it would go to zero any time soon, PEG is like 1.5

Even the best investors can only hope to be right 2/3 of the time. That being said while I disagree with the eBay and Paypal purchases his top choices are fantastic. Compounders are not the only way to make money - the only thing that matters is the disconnect between price and Value and his top 5 picks are all strongly aligned to that thesis. He has been a great investor in recent time.
