    This video walks through installation of Baja Designs S2 Sport auxiliary lights on a 2018 or newer Jeep Wrangler JL and wiring it to the factory auxiliary switch panel on the inside of the Jeep using the interior connections under the dash. You can follow this process to wire accessories other than lighting, using the exterior connections under the hood, or using the already installed aftermarket MOPAR auxiliary switch panel, as the basic steps are the same. I will show you one idea on how to mount lights to a roof rack, and you’ll even see how to drill into the hardtop!
    This video features a custom built 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited Rubicon with lift, 37” tires, winch, and more. If you are interested in seeing more of this Jeep and keeping up with its progress, feel free to subscribe to the American Jeeper channel and watch the first stage build video.
    The Maximus-3/Rhino Pioneer Rack solution is very low profile (which is great), but that doesn’t allow much room, so I needed a compact, low profile light with a nice output. After doing some research I decided the best lights for my needs are the S2 Sport by Baja Designs.
    With a Rubicon that has the factory aux switches, there will be 6 wires in total under the dash in the aux bundle. The two thicker wires are 40 amp and go to aux 1 and 2, the orange and blue/pink wires are 15 amp and go to aux 3 and 4, respectably, the red/white goes to the battery, and the pink/orange goes to the ignition. The MOPAR switch bank has the first four wires only.
    The wiring diagram is within the video. Thank you for watching!

      That was a trying moment for sure. I would have done anything not to have to remove the rack.

      How did you guys get the rhino rack for the JL? I called them and they said it won’t be ready until January. Is it the JK one? Thanks

    • @AmericanJeeper
      @AmericanJeeper  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is the Rhino Pioneer rack with Maximus-3 brackets, but you can get the whole thing directly from Maximus-3 or like I did through Northridge 4x4. Maximus-3 sells the setup as their solution for the JL, so that part is a little confusing. The combination is great though and I highly recommend it. Without rails, it adds less than 4” to the height of the Jeep and will be perfect for a roof top tent. 🇺🇸

    American Jeeper, I think we both literally have the same JLU Rubi!
    I love your roof rack with light combo (coming from the first responder field) and will most likely be replicating this. Can you shoot me the specific bolts, nylon washers, rubber grommets and such, if possible, you used on the Baja Design light wiring? I’d like a good watertight seal like you did. Thanks a head of time!

    Hey great video! Now I know you mentioned you connected the lights to aux switch 4, but how exactly did you connect the ends ?

    • @AmericanJeeper
      @AmericanJeeper  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cameron thank you. The red wire coming from the light connects to the aux wire by splicing it. You can use the old twist caps or the ones that you insert and shrink down with a heat gun. Earlier in the video I showed the spliced wires I did towards the back, and this is the same process only you ground the black wire and connect the red to the single aux 4 wire as labeled.

      Max Daddy if you watch the video Choosing Off Road Lights for the Jeep Wrangler JL, it shows the output from above with a drone.

    @American Jeeper I need some assistance using my factory aux switches. When you cut your switch off of the wiring harness and you had to wire it up what did you do? Right now I can't get my aux switches to work and I am having to use the button from the harness.

    That drill is painful to watch

    • @AmericanJeeper
      @AmericanJeeper  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alpha Data at that point I had already drilled 8 other holes in the top for the roof rack, so the 9th was a little easier
