    Thank you. Please do more. Love the real time analysis and discussion of airmanship and technique (e.g., setting up approaches, use of flaps, Moose (?)stalls, etc.) Great stuff.

      @@flylikeagirl_1963 I was a pilot with the 126th Med Co., California, ARNG (Army National Guard) located at Mather AFB, S.E. of Sacramento, CA. This A.F. Base was one of many closed several years ago. I have sense retired from the "guard". I also flew UH-1 in Vietnam.

    Wow, hadn't flown for almost 30 year's went back up a little while ago and yes, like a bicycle it mainly came back, all but the love for the old 152, I was heart broken and felt let down, twas something I loved so much, didn't hold me no more. I stumbled across your videos and the flying Cowboys and I literally up like a kid. I'm just gonna keep watching them all, and by the way, don't feel like no idiot, your a good pilot and ya would make a good instructor, you example what the beauty of flying is and can be. Thanks

    I really like this one. Really shows how much practice it takes to do the sorts of stuff you do.
    Also, I couldn't help but laugh a little. You land on tiny patches of dirt over and over, no problem. Land on a giant strip of asphalt, and that's the landing that you struggle with.

    • @Alex-us2vw
      @Alex-us2vw 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unless you have a medical issue preventing you from a PPL licence a sport licence is a waste of money. Can’t add ratings to the licence to do things like fly at night, severely limited on aircraft selection, and LSA aircraft are more expensive compared to what you can buy in the used general aviation market.
      General aviation aircraft essentially last forever when well maintained, any good plane you buy will generally not depreciate and could even appreciate over longer periods of ownership. Can’t go wrong with that.
      Maintenance and availability of parts is also another benefit of flying a more common airframe. Flying a Cessna or Piper you can almost be certain that whatever airport you land at for emergency repairs will have Cessna parts and a familiar mechanic.

    I grew up doing two things... Boats and airplanes. I first flew as a 4 year old on my father's lap in a rebuilt Aironca Champ. He handled rudder and throttle, I had the stick, and I got to do a loop and an Immelman. In 2000 I was signed up for ground school in Hillsboro OR, then I badly injured my back in August. By November I was forced to quite my career as a heavy construction carpenter, and flight training went out the window. Now, the only way I can get stick time is on Flight Sim X, and while the big fast planes are fun, I have discovered the joys of bush flying in small slow planes.
    I didn't know the flaps trick you are using was an actual technique, but I learned it by accident. I'd forgotten to put my flaps down until I'd already started rolling, so I put them down and popped off the ground like a cork! Lesson learned.
    I learned to fly taildragger on the Extra 300 spring gear. I could not get it to stop bouncing!! I spoke to my VERY good pilot father, learned from him, and from then on I do a full-stall... works every time. I don't have a big-wheel bush plane yet. I could buy the program for any number of them, but your videos have me looking at two. Yep... The Kitfox and the Wilga.
    Fly safe, and know you have a dedicated follower here. Thank you!

    Trent, According to all the info I've read, landing with your brakes locked will give you a longer stopping distance and worse directional control than having your wheels turning at a percentage of your ground speed, which is why cars have ABS systems. In quite a few videos, I've seen that your wheels are mostly stationary.

    Thanks for the ride, enjoyed it. My parents live in South Central, very rural Kentucky and they are ate up with Coyotes, beside making one hell of a racket at night they've decimated the wild turkeys in the area. The land around them is heavily forested so no chasing coyotes with aircraft. P.S., I'd love to see a herd of Antelope at a full gallop, they are the second fastest animal on foot, first fastest when you consider they can keep it up far longer than a Cheetah can.

    I actually enjoyed it....felt a little like i'm sitting there with you......the "nuts & bolts" of flying are interesting sometimes, wouldn't want them ALL the time, but once in a while seeing the realities of what it takes is worth watching. would ask maybe sometime do a vid of your "pre-flight walk around"..... Do you have to file flight plans and get weather briefings?
    would be interesting to see one of your pro-cams mounted up so you could get some really awesome views of wildlife and similar things....found your channel from Alex's blog on FliteTest and the trip he and Stephan did with you and the Flying Cowboys. would love to see some of really high def shots of the terrain you guys get into......places I'd love to somehow visit someday.....have you ever gone north with the FreedomFox? (like the Interior of Alaska...) or is it just not equipped for that kind of climate......

    Trent, I absolutely love your show and can't wait to see the next one. And I hate to say anything because there is someone who always wants to bring someone else to task over something. However, I don't know about out where you live, but here in Oklahoma, there is a law against unnecessary harassment of wildlife, such as chasing pronghorns and deer and coyotes with an airplane. It may not be against the law in Idaho, but I would maybe call one of the local game wardens and find out before they catch you doing it. Thanks for the videos man. I hope I did not come across as a know it all about this. Just thinking about you. I might be wrong. If I am wrong, please don't tell my wife.

    Hey Trent, I think you worry too much. I personally found this particular video to be a lot of fun to watch, it gave a real sense of the flight experience and how it feels to buzz round in the Kitfox. Also as a Vegan and PETA supporter... you merely annoyed these animals, like you said your not into shooting them... anyways.. Cheers!
