    My 7.3 has taught my 17 year old self so much already, thanks for the video! Been wanting to order plugs and now I have the courage to install them myself!

    Thank you for the video. Very informative. Changed the drivers side last weekend, fingers crossed everything is hooked up and right. Saw your video and decided to do some more diagnostics as I went. It did turn over so fortunately I avoided hydrolocking it. Changing passenger side now. Cheers!

    Thank you Charlie Sheen. I watched your video and I feel very confident that I will be able to tackle this job. I have replaced plugs on my 6.0 ford diesel and it was a completely different job.

    My Amazon Motorcraft plugs failed too. I bought some new Motorcraft from Rockauto. I haven't swapped them yet but now I wish I would've taken a look at the diesel rx. My fingers are crossed.

      I got the glow plugs swapped. Thankfully,that fixed it. A couple were completely dead. A couple others had resistance values that weren't right. Being that I had just replaced them a year ago,it went pretty quick. Thanks for the making these how to's. Very helpful.

    • @diymechanictv1233
      @diymechanictv1233  ปีที่แล้ว

      Google says it's 14 ft/lb, but I just usually make them tight with my 14" ratchet.

    Just curious have you ever tested the glow plug pin on outside valve cover, should read 0.6-2ohm? Mine are all in range so means they should be good right? Thank you for the video and love your truck that red interior is awesome!

    • @diymechanictv1233
      @diymechanictv1233  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, thanks for the kind words! I have tested glow plugs through the valve covers before. That's a nice way to test them (and the UVCWH at the same time) without needing to open things up.
      Thanks for watching!

    I see you reuse the gasket I'm guessing it's somewhat new?

    • @diymechanictv1233
      @diymechanictv1233  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. These are considered to be reusable gaskets. I typically don't replace them unless the wiring connections are burned.

    So is it just the Motorcraft glow plugs that come from Amazon that suck?

    • @diymechanictv1233
      @diymechanictv1233  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes sir! There are subtle differences between these and some other Motorcraft I had that lead me to believe these are fakes. I'm very happy with the DieselRX plugs I installed, BTW.

  • @colt45orton73

    • @diymechanictv1233
      @diymechanictv1233  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No I don't. There isn't really any hing there that requires much torque so as long as you don't go crazy tight on something, you should be just fine! Thanks for watching the channel!

    What camera and editing software are you using for your videos?

    • @diymechanictv1233
      @diymechanictv1233  ปีที่แล้ว

      Filmed on a potato and edited with MS paint is what it looks like, right!? 😂
      Actually most of the video is shot on my Samsung Galaxy S20 and I use the free version of Lightworks to edit the videos. Cheep, cheep, cheep. YT doesn't pay me much at this point, so it's more of a hobby.

    so i’m fairly sure my glow plugs weren’t replaced, despite what the ad said when i bought the truck. it can’t start when it’s 20 degrees out unplugged. should i get those dieselrx plugs or motor craft?

    • @diymechanictv1233
      @diymechanictv1233  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Check the glow plug relay before you replace the plugs, it's a lot easier to replace if it has failed. So far I've been happy with the Diesel Rx glow plugs. They seem to work really well. I think you'd be okay with Motorcraft plugs too as long as you get them from a more reputable source than Amazon. Lesson learned.

      @@royjrglenn7435 the glow plug relay is just to the left of the fuel filter bowl with 2 large terminals and 2 small ones on it. Has a square base attached with 2 screws and is usually brown or black.

    Are these glow plugs suitable for a 1994 engine? It has a different arrangement of units

    • @diymechanictv1233
      @diymechanictv1233  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      1994 saw 2 different diesel engines offered in Ford trucks; the 7.3 IDI and the 7.3 Powerstroke (DI). As long as it is the DI (direct injected) Powerstroke engine, these should work for you. These would be a replacement for a Motorcraft ZD11 glow plug.
