Why the hell are they modernizing and making everyone look different though? That would actually create some plotholes, like the scene with Shinichi trying to find a payphone to call his dad before he gets eaten. Making it modernized would ruin all the tension.
Whatever, I'm sure Madhouse will find a way.

I'm a little upset by the protagonist's physical change. He looks too intelligent compared to the manga's character. Though I hope the writing makes up for the change. Glad Migi is left untouched. He's my favorite character.

I think Migi was supposed to be the intelligence. That's what made Parasyte work for me. The adorable and helpful monster assisting the dweeby character. It was a complete reversal from Zatch Bell(another series I love). What makes this iffy for me is now you have two intelligent characters making similar banter. That makes me worried.
It's why you need to have two different characters working off each other to give fun conflicts. Having two characters agree with each other all the time is boring.
I'm actually looking forward to the live action adaptation. It's more faithful to the book.

Yeah, that's got me worried as well. Shinichi is supposed to be just a completely average student, learning towards the jock end of spectrum. As long as it's just visuals, I can live with it, but if they mess with his character, this'll be a crap adaption out of the box.

My problem with the Death Note animated adaptation. The director Death Note hurt the story by adding unnecessary things. I'm worried this will be the same.
My man i went full hate over the changes, i expect so little out of this that the only thing they could do is getting a "it wasn't that much of a garbage after all" out of me, that's the best thing you can do with these things, you take all the hype and transform it into hate and disappointment, then once you watch the anime your already lows as hell bar can only rise.
I have been waiting for this so long.
Mc seems to look a little different as does the character art-style, but I'm really enjoying how they visualised the parasytes themselves and the transformations.
The animation looks amazing so much better than the usual animation we get! Looks like there are going to be less still frames and more movement than usual; can't wait!

One thing I learnt from this season is that "you don't mess with the Migi"
I remember reading the manga at my local Booksamillion when I was kid.
Drinking steamed milk just to keep the workers from bothering me.
Looks better than I thought it would! My only complaint is the art style. The art style in the manga gave off a more eerie, disturbing feel, where as this is more fresh and modern looking. I didn't even recognize the main guy at first, since it barely looks like him... in this version he looks too boyish and cute with shiny eyes and all.
In the end, I'm still probably going to buy this anime on DVD, since it's Parasyte and it's going to be fucking phenomenal.... hopefully.
It is good manga and one of my favorite. They better not mess it up. and I except LOT OF BLOOD shown!!!!

This looks interesting. Reminds me of John Carpenter's "The Thing", especially the dog scene. Can anyone tell me a synopsies of what the story is without any spoilers?
Its one of the first manga I have ever read, its called Parasyte. It's basically alien organisms (that worm thing in the beginning) land on earth and infect hosts by entering the ear, taking over the brain, and adapting to culture, while retaining the ability to shape the head into any manner of shape, mostly some form of tentacle knife weapon. The main character's alien could'nt enter the brain so it climbed up his arm and so since he could not take over the body, the two have to learn to adapt to each other. Thats the REALLY short end of it, but its a satisfying read and not long at all.
A being that isn't from earth tries to take over Shinji (Guy with the glasses) but can't get to his brain, there for Shinji is having to cope with a being that lives (More like has taken over) his hand, this creature has some strange...eating habits. I've read the manga, I don't know if he's eaten anything yet (The hand of course) and as far as I can tell he'll need to eat soon, so it'll be potential plot in the anime having the cope with human (Shinji) and the inhuman (Migi, which is the creatures name.) So it's about Shinji having to live with Migi as apart of hos body, problem after problem. If you want to read the manga go to 'manga here . com' and type "Parasyte into the search bar.
Sorry if I may have spoiled anything, though I don't think if I did it's important at all.

So they made an anime based on "The Thing" ? Cool. I'm so glad that Japan is getting ideas from Hollywood for anime adaptation. I hope they will make an anime series based on Pacific Rim next.
Umm you do know this was based off the 80's Japanese horror manga Parasyte right? This is an adaptation to the manga.
I read the manga a few years ago, is a badass. Anime from nowdays are just too crappy.It's good to take stories that are worthwhile and make a anime from that. Faith on anime recovered.

How about staying true to the fucking story and not modernizing it for no reason? How about that? Because that's actually the important part - I wouldn't mind sub-par visuals if the story was kept good, but if the story is fucked, no amount of great visuals can amend that.

Kami Nomi Shinji is not a nerd who wears glasses, he is a jock with no ambition in life. That was kind of one of the character development points in the manga after his a certain parasyte starts killing people in a certain building. Shinji learns that with the parasytic boost to his athleticism and his newly discovered ability to care, he is obligated to kill Mr.A and eventually the other one
I guess I the only person who wouldn't mind if they change the plot since the source material left some loose ends that still bug me
