Omg my 9 month old son LOVES Laufey! If he's crying, 70% of the time, Fragile will calm him down. Very happy about that, my daughter would only calm down with very loud trap music, ahahaha.
Hey George Collier. I'm a huge fan of your videos! How much would I need to pay you to transcribe one of my piano pieces for me. I'm an amateur composer and I'd really like to be able to play my own music as soon as I can sight read😭
@@imauz1127 despised doesn’t mean i don’t know how to read them lmfao i just prefer to play by ear bc music theory in general can be tiring when learning pieces + laufey’s lesson made it more fun to review them
@@halcycn gotchu, i'm classically trained so i momentarily forgot that people can learn by ear. i actually have a very accomplished pianist friend who only just learned how to read music
Not many people release sheet music anymore, as a matter of fact its probably less than 1%... compared to back then, classical music is so free nowadays and you can find multiple writings of every classical song, but having the original is something near and dear to me. Thank you for making the music community a better space, I'm a broke college student but one day I'll come to a concert of yours I promise!
It's so absolutely heartwarming to see Laufey interacting with her fans like this, it almost feels as though we are along with her in her music journey :) - a Lauver
IT TAKES SO MUCH TALENT TO SING THE NOTES PROPERLY WITHOUT HEARING IT FIRST OMGGGG WE LAUVE OUR TALENTED LOOFY ❤❤❤❤❤ THE SHARPS AND FLATS ESPECIALLY AAARRGGHGHHHH
OMG I LOVE THISSS! I’m learning how to play “From The Start” on the guitar. Learned the melody, and now starting on the on Laufey’s vocals, melody. It’s my FAVORITE SONG! You should do a tutorial on playing one of your songs on guitar with the melody’s and teach the notes like you did here!!! THAT WIULD BE SO AWESOME!!!!
I play guitar and understand a bit about music theory. But the fact that she took time just to give this deep dive theory and her joy while teaching was so heartwarming to watch ❤
Hahaaa I'm an orchestra teacher and I tellya, teaching music theory is NOT easy. The kids' eyes glaze over when I start getting into dotted rhythms, and how fractions are involved. 😂
I really appreciate the help to play your songs. Usually I wait for a tutorial but I am happy to see an artist demonstrate how to play their own songs. Cheers!
for 2:34 , a measure is where the notes are located, and in the beginning of a song is where the time signature is (it looks like a fraction) whole note- 4 beats quarter note- 1 beat half note- 2 beats eighth note- half a beat (i’m in high school advanced choir lol just using my knowledge)
omg laufey i actually love u sm i play bass in the orchestra and i'm very very beginner and this helped so much!!! another thing i wanted to say is my orchestra teacher loves u a lot and thinks you make amazing music!!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ love u laufey
I know the video is mostly for fun, but cant help as pro musicologist here not mentioning it: the key (hehe) information about key clefs is that the starting point of its writing (drawing? lol) points at which line according sound is placed. Treble clef is also called G-clef and Bass clef is also called F-clef. G-clef points the g1 and F-clef points at f (in lower octave). We start to draw G-clef from the inside and treble clef starts on 2nd line from bottom; f-clef is started from this big dot on the 4th line from bottom (Laufey made a clear point here heh), thats bass clef. Okay, what does it give you? If you are actually fresh to reading musical notation, it means, that you dont have to remember exactly where every sound is - you only need to remember that the middle (origin) point of treble clef, typically on 2nd line from bottom, is g1, and from there you can always go on natural (C major) scale up and down to find what all other notes are, in case you forget. After time naturally you will remember, but sometimes you still have to refer to something to read a note far away from the lines, like g3 :D Worth noting: in particular special cases you may encounter g-clefs, f-clefs and c-clefs on some unusual positions and lines, and thats where this bit of information becomes really useful. Btw Very stylish hand writing on the white board
the moment she said B sharp.. i was like.. wait, thats not a good example.. hahahaha. but still the best teacher ever!! a new side of Laufey we never knew about! more please!!
Thank you for slightly teaching me how to sight read again. I haven't touched my violin in 6 years and almost forgot how to read notes.ive been focusing on getting my license,I Love your new songs, I plan to buy your vinyls soon.
hey laufey i literally just found out about you and am so greatful because i have been trying to teach myself to sing but couldn’t find anyone with my specific type of voice that comes naturally (it’s easier to learn from someone if i can match their sound better) but now i found you and i can’t say if we have the same voice but it’s the same type/style and i am very excited to learn from you!
haha its been about 30+ years since i was in my theory/comp classes. the singing of the notes reminded me of one of my high school choir conductors. he used to do that all the time, when a section was out of tune. hehe happy memories.
laufey struggling with examples and calling us her chickens means everything to me
I agree, I was pretty sad today but this made me feel a little better
we are no longer laufeyers we are now chickens 🐔
frr
That chicken came out of nowhere fr
And shes Mother duck 🐣
I couldn’t help but laugh when she not only chose to use B sharp but also C flat 😂 I love this music lesson with all my heart
I thought that was very humorous of her:)! And she even mentioned that b is called h in some countries ! She's the best music teacher ever 😂
Should have used H sharp as an example.
If laufey was my theory teacher, i'd be absolutely buzzing to go to theory, music & composing classes every week. if only...
You'd also probably fail your theory exam 😂 And I mean that in the nicest way I love laufey
I feel like you just need to ask nicely
POV: you can already read sheet music, but you’re just watching Laufey struggle to teach
i literally just came back from practice j to watch loofy
also i was 111th like
6 years of violin, few months of piano, still I would say I can barely read it, and it highly depends on which darn sheet music you mean...
teaching is such a great way to revisit basics after you've "mastered" them, to gain new perspective and a better depth of understanding!
nothing wrong to go repeat the basics am i right? :D
I agree to it 😂
My 2 year old daughter can't get enough Laufey.
Ever since I played her Fragile (acoustic) I have to play it all the time.
That's so sweet! I'm young too and love Laufey your daughter has taste!
Bro thats so awesome
she’s just like me (im probably going to introduce my future kids, if i ever have them, to laufey 😂)
your daughter has immaculate taste in laufey songs
Omg my 9 month old son LOVES Laufey! If he's crying, 70% of the time, Fragile will calm him down.

laufey being our music teacher is something the next generation won't have
Yes they will? It's on TH-cam forever lol
@@Feeshermon Not only that I am pretty sure she will still be alive lol. Unless OP knows something we don't...
2:30 Laufey calling us her chickens gives me a reason to keep going
I have a bachelor’s degree in Music Theory and a master’s degree in Instructional Design, and I give this lesson: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Finally a class I can understand when you’re a band kid. And with the best teacher, Laufey ❤
what laufey songs am i gonna transcribe now 😭

This gives me motivation to play my instruments that's been collecting dust in my closet for months.🙂 Thanks Laufey...such a great indpiration❤
me too, this made me want to practice after a year and a half :o omg !
Junia's reaction in the reflection of the whiteboard from 01:20 to 01:27 !

I actually cried watching this stop it rn I can’t rn
The blatant display of her perfect pitch is so funny (2:03)
I dont have any idea what she is talking about, but for some reason i cant stop watching her talk.
laufey is really out here singlehandedly resurrecting our asian buried piano skills from when we were forced to learn piano in our childhoods :,)
I understood nothing but I had fun and a smile was brought to my face so it wasn't a waste of time, so thank you!
😭I've learnt music my whole life and yet I still watched the full thing, ahhh I love Laufey so much! 💗

“alright my chickens” 😭
Aa a fellow cellist who should already know this information, this video was very informative. 10/10!
I’ve actually been trying to learn music theory on my own and the fact that this came up motivated me to keep going!! Love you Laufey 💕
Girl, you’re hilarious. But I laughed so hard when you put a B when you’re about to explain sharp. This made my day 😂😂😂
If Laufey were to have an entire music theory series, I would 1000% watch it all 😭
Same! But only with this level of unprepared.
To wrapped it up. Laufey always looks natural and sharp but never looks flat.. 😄
I can totally imagine Laufey teaching music classes, the most quirky teacher ever 😍
I appreciate how you're releasing the sheet music for all of the songs, saves me trying to play them by ear
I loved this video 😂🫶🏼 it’s like a little sneakpeak into laufeys humor and personality hehe
Teacher laufey was something we didn't ask for, but we needed.
This must be the prettiest sight reading lesson that has ever been given.
explaining sharps and flats with B and C is my favorite musical bit, makes me chuckle every time
Laufey giving teacher vibes as always ❤
This is so fun! Couldn't help but laugh at the B sharp and C flat part!
Perfect pitch!!! …. Check with your instruments kids!! Laufey is note perfecto!! Pitch perfecto!! ✨✨✨
That means she has autism.
That's not a joke 95% with perfect pitch has autism.

as someone who has been playing the cello for 7 years this video is so funny
Minored in music comp in undergrad and have been a professional church singer for over 6 years, but watching this entire video was the obvious choice.
