Thanks so much! It's amazing both how well this works and how cumbersome it is to setup. Almost like Adobe doesn't want you to know this is possible to do, which Adobe software in a nutshell. powerful stuff that is clunky and unintuitive.
Awesome video. One for sure I’m going to save and add to the tool belt. I have just one issue. I got it working, duplicated the original footage, put it on top of the fill layer, the logo disappeared, selected fill layer there’s no luma track matte option. Only 1. Fill which is faded out so can’t select and 2. Footage which I can select but the are no alpha matte alpha inverted or luma matte luma inverted selections as can be seen on your video. Where did I go wrong?
Is this works same good as davinchi resolves surface tracker 🤨? If we track clothes then can we increase contrast and after tracking decrease contrast.
@VFX Shack, Hello I am new to AE, and I was wondering if this technique works for clothes on characters? and if it doesn't, I was hoping you might have a video covering that, thanks in advance
@@vfxshack Thank you for replying so quickly, also even though the method you displayed uses no plugins I feel like I need the basics, so I will grind even if it takes an hour longer, last question if I may, for motion tracking of facial features, do you yourself go with Mocha or do you tend to just use motion tracking without plugins, and do you think it's better for beginner's like myself to do it without the plugins, Thank you once again and loving the channel ,and subbed :)
Thank you for such kind words. Means a lot. For the motion tracking thing, i would suggest you to understand basics of after effects motion tracking, once you grasped some knowledge on how the motion tracking works, what area should we track, what type of points we should avoid, then move on to plugins like mocha. In this way you'll have knowledge which you'll remember forever. I use default after effects motion tracking and mocha depending on need of work.
@@vfxshack Much love for the reply I will learn from what you said as I am practically a total noob when it comes to AE, But I am just excited about the potential of AE, it's like a new world has opened up waiting to be explored for me with this program as I am a blender 3D/2D artist, and have an interest for videos as well and wish to use this technology for clients thanks again 🙂
Would this method work in unison with a null layer being tracked for position? Or does this completely remove the need to track motion using that method?
@@vfxshack Yes, I'm currently using the latest version. Is there an alternative? And also there is some clips where this texture tracking isn't working, in which cases works the best? Thanks!
Firstly, adobe removed the drop downs for track mattes and replaced them with icons, just like we convert a layer to 3D, you can search this on youtube. For the tracking issue, make sure youre footage has enough texture, it shouldn't have any flat or reflective surfaces. In that case, it wont work.
Can I do the same with a picture? I have a long hair, furry cat, and for fun, I would like to have his name on his forehead, just like it's written there.
@@vfxshack I think picture manipulation can be done in Photoshop, but I don't know how to do similar like this. Please do a tutorial about that. I can send you a picture of my long hair, furry cat. :)
what a good technique! And the incredible result!👌
Thanks so much! 😊

If the cloths have enough contrast and textures on them then it will work perfectly. Might get some glitches but we can fix that.

WOOOWWWW
💥💥
No understand
I followed steps exactly and at the end, it did not work as expected. It literally looks as though there is an image floating over video.
To work properly, this effect requires as many details as possible in the video. It your video is flat or has reflections in it, then it wont work
can I do the same with a folding paper?
It won't work well on blank paper....the paper should have some texture on it to be able to track it
Bro Only Images Can be tracked or Video also??
It only works on images or texts. Videos won't work.
круто подписка!
Thank you 🙌
NO luma matte option. why?
You're using latest version of after effects, right? It doesn't have luma matte option like old version

Yes, absolutely you can!! Just follow the same steps. Instead of image texture, use text.
