Instead of "Magnus goes wrong" it might be safer for analysts to say "I don't understand why Magnus did that." He may have foreseen an endgame in which his rook and bishop were worth more than 5 and 3 points, respectively. Combined with the king, they would overpower black's queen and sherpherd a pawn to promotion. I would never foresee that possibility, but Magnus ... maybe.
No he definitely went wrong, this is quite a simple endgame to win as you just promote quite easily, a queen is much better then a knight and rook vs queen, I think most people would have no trouble winning that position against stockfish in bullet, even as low as id say 1200
54... Kh7 is *heartbreaking* edit: OH WOW Can't believe Carlsen missed the pin w/ Bishop support. Felt like the whole point. One of those rare moments a 900 feels like a 3200 - even though I had more than 4 seconds on a clock 😂
It's always incredible what these guys can see in split seconds, but just as incredible what they sometimes miss. Just Madmax. great analysis as always, thanks :)
Thanks for the video, it was pretty enjoyable. Question, i was wondering when will Magnus play his next serious chess event? Or how can i enter a website or a channel where i can realise his game schedule, ofc Titled Tuesday excluded? Much appreciated!
@@JohnDuthie After watching some of Kramnik's clips with the aim of viewing some quality cringe, I came to the realization that much of the drama has actually been stirred up by the likes of Hikaru and Gotham. Kramnik has some interesting insights and questions which we should be keen to answer, not quick to ridicule. After all, the aim to eliminate cheating is an honest one, and many prominent GM's have agreed that cheating is a major problem, especially in unregulated online events.
No way he should’ve lost the game once he took Magnus’s Queen seemed to Blunder the game away after that point clearly taking the Knight with the Rook was way to go than recapturing with Bishop forking Magnus’s Rook but instead captures with Bishop second Blunder pushing his pawn instead of cleaning up and taking pawns from Magnus i can see how Nordibek was able to comeback in his game against Parham today in Prague but this guy pretty much blew this game I wonder if Magnus saw that move where he could’ve won back the Queen at the end or maybe he just wanted to keep his Rook ? It was a pretty obvious move
Good stuff! But have you seen this game starting at 10:36? th-cam.com/video/GJph84nhLKk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=P-dV5Dkkx1A48W07 . Just when you think you've seen every insane Magnus escape THIS comes along. Epic Chess indeed. Has this crazed material imbalance ever been seen before in any game? Worth a video!
That's absolutely hilarious thanks for pointing out I'll defo cover haha. Funny as well because I am about to post a video which is also an Adam's attack in the Najdorf so ties in nicely!
This game was an absolute insane one. Glad to catch it live yesterday, but I just had to rewatch it again to be astounded again.
Wow That is awesome control shepherding ( GOAT- herding) the pawn up the board . Great commentary loving the gags and side humour.
My favourite chess colour commentator for sure

he’s clearly not the goat… he‘s the shepard!
Now that's a comeback!
The final position kind of looks like a wall painting.
"Daenerys behind them" love the commentary every time.
Whenever I blunder a queen, I'll insta resign. Magnus has nerves of steel!
No one ever won by resigning
When Magnus blunders tho, his opponent effectively resigns by a thousand self-inflicted cuts: valuing hype more than skill or self-confidence.
We are so lucky to be able to see this man live. He is something else.

"Tried to marry a chess piece". LOL.
Can’t believe he missed rook to A7 , that’s winning on the spot
Sometimes, you don't expect your opponent to make obvious mistakes.
That game was insane.
Tender stem broccoli? Someone's going for the Metaphor-of-the-Month award!
I need to work on my nudgy moves...
That ending position could have been a chess puzzle!
Watching magnus move those pieces up the board was beautiful.
For those that do not know, the "cameltoe pawn formation" is actually a virtual pawn sacrifice.
😆😁
Magnus seems to enjoying himself. Totally different story from Bobby
Magnus doesn't believe in Fortresses. He does believe in Moving Castles 😂
watched it when channel live... brutal
Thats just sickening. This is a goddamn crime in open daylight.

Nah, it's a blitz game and he made some mistakes, as would anyone in a game with constant time pressure.
I never get tired by 'Population Magnus' - fantastic game!
It’s just not even fair…, how?!?!
Can we just appreciate that we are living in an era when the most complex game is played by the best ever human?
The most complex game is poker, but Magnus is definitely the chess GOAT
Poker is a game for pea brains
This tuesday it didn't work...
1:26 great witty comment 😂
Insane game indeed, but also well covered James! Again very entertaining as well as educational!
Much appreciated!
magnus: *retires*
epic chess: "guess I'll only upload one video a month now"
😂
Love this channel! Love the game recaps
Thanks a lot!
joseph knew had he won, Magnus and his horde of worshippers will accuse him of cheating
One can ask, how many blunders can you make and still win and how many blunders does it take to snatch loss from jaws of victory...
Tell you one thing: Kortschnoi once gave a queen in a simul for a rook and knight and succeeeded against a decent player.
Yeah that's basically giving up a pawn
Impressive
The *what* pawn formation?
That definitely got a chuckle out of me.
Missing ...Rxc3 at 5:50 is pretty inexcusable for anyone above intermediate and for a master not playing it.... I really face palmed

There is a rumor Epic Chess is in love with Magnus.
Part of me feels like Magnus gave up his queen just to give himself a challenge lol
I believe this to be true. He seems to try new things all the time because it keeps things interesting.
Who switches from Magnus to Hans…..HIM!!
wdym?
I've always said never trade queens with Magnus, even if he's bluffing 😂.... He blundered it and still pulled out the win.
It's always incredible what these guys can see in split seconds, but just as incredible what they sometimes miss. Just Madmax.
great analysis as always, thanks :)
Magnus shows he can play without a queen. What a gem is he!! It shows he is the chess history's THE BEST PLAYER.
beautiful chess, Joseph has to work on his endgames. thanks for posting ad commenting

Next I saw is he is playing some Norwegian league chess, saw it here at 2700chess.com
But don't think anywhere lists it all publicly tbh

Thanks a lot and cheers for watching!
Great game and commentary:-)
I thought Kramnik tried to adopt Hikaru long ago lmao
Kramnik adopted “statisticians” from the local elementary school.

stunning game and enjoyable commentary
0:56 Fee-Anne-Kettle is my bone apple teeth (bon appétit).
That was an insane finish!
The end game goat.
Maybe it’s not Magnus effect, maybe he is just slightly better than his opponents. I don’t know, just a thought.
8:34 Missing Ra7 was an insane blunder. My càt could see it. And it´s dead. What a patzer😂
ahhhh yesss.....the camel toe gambit of 2024
😂
I dont even know of it was a blunder or he calculated it. Probably blunder? When I've seen him sac queen before he got 3 minor pieces for it.
Great game!
Excellent commentary.
T hat was 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Magnus trained at Hogwarts.
I was there live 😊 crazy game to see live
Joseph lost to someone easy like Magnus? He doesn't stand a chance against Jospem. /s
