Enjoyed the discussions and chemistry here! LRXC is so aware of "boomer takes" but I feel like a large majority of this shared audience thinks similarly lol Gen 4 and 5 might still have people who will create a Renaissance, as the people who grew up with them get to that age to create content surrounding it, but I'm not sure if Gen 2 will get one! I also think Gen 3 happens to be really nice for modding or hacks which has helped with its popularity. Really interesting stuff here, thanks to the editor for adding little background footage or extra information about the discussions! That's some great work.
I’m also interested to see if that happens for gen4/gen5. I totally think it can, it just needs some passionate and popular youtubers! Also LOL yeah my audience is self aware of that as well :)) great comment

I really liked the part of bigger channels nerding out over smaller channels. It reminded me of a time a few years ago where James Charles gave a shoutout to a sudoku and crossword channel. Such a surreal experience to think that James Charles would watch 2 older British gentlemen solve puzzles and also enjoy it to the point where he gave a shoutout

44:00 guys I promise you, had Jynx, Mr Mime, and Electabuzz been created in gen 9, you would feel the same about them as Cerulege and Armarouge I agree that there are elements of overdesign but there have been crappy early designs too that we just accept because we're used to them Every gen has goods and bads and its also subjective of course

I really agree with pre-special-split has so many upsides, but really they messed up the game by just giving every mon a stab att/spcatt for everything It makes so many mons the same Even if they did the split they should've been conservative with what moves they gave out At least that could've given mons more identity
1:15:04 I still maintain that physical ghost moves are cool. Like, maybe it should've been special instead. But I like picturing that supernatural horror film type trope where some invisible spectre left a palm print bruise on you or something, I dunno. I'm at the gen9 designs slander and I think Gouging Fire is a good example of them not being inspired enough. For example back in gen 8, I feel like the reimagining of articuno and co was pretty spot on, cool new concepts on familiar faces but it just didn't click for the gen2 and 5 variants in gen 9 I think in part because they stayed too close to the original designs (like galarian articuno is almost it's own thing for example not just "articuno with a mask"). And yeah on a more general sense the future form are consistantly uninspired, just making "this pokemon... But it's a robot" was just so bad. It's a shame too because the past forms of regular mons are overall pretty neat, sandy shocks is a bit silly but it looks great for example
