I have been watching this movie since it came out in 2002 when my oldest son was 2.... he's 24 now and we still watch this movie as a family every year
Saying there’s “Too much Bryan Adam’s” in this film is like saying there’s “Too much Phil Collins” in Disneys Tarzan, & there’s simply never enough of either ❤
This comment just made me realize that Tarzan and Spirit are practically the same movie (and I don’t mean that in a negative way). Starts out with the titular character as a baby, then shows a bit of them as a goofy kid/colt, getting into trouble and causing the adults to look at their moms sideways, but also shows them learning how to thrive. Then it transitions into them as adults, saving their families from a big cat. Then they find some outsiders near their home and they start poking around the campsite. Here it deviates a bit, but eventually they meet a woman/mare who shows them things about their way of living. Tarzan/Spirit feel their hearts being pulled in two directions. At one point they both end up kidnapped, trapped on a form of transportation and they have to fight their way out. Then in the end Jane/Rain decide to leave their homes to be with Tarzan/Spirit and their families in the wild.
I still will cry at the final “I Will Always Return.” It’s one of the best triumphant yet solemn scenes ever. The emotions and weight of the journey finally set in and once you realize it’s time to go home, it just hits so hard. Love it
I'm surprised I haven't seen a comment yet about the meaning of his 'friend' the eagle - the eagle is a symbol throughout the movie for his freedom, where in the beginning and the end, he is free, but when it turned away from him at the tribe it was a way of showing the symbolism that although he escaped the Army fort, he's still not quite free yet.
@@dandelion1469 I thought the same too. When he was first taken, the eagle went to him calling out. This eagle didn't even acknowledge him. Also, the tribe was supposedly far from his home, and I don't think the eagle followed him all the way there. Spirit realized, in that moment, how far he really was from his herd. And of course, the symbolism *@ChocoBunny* spoke of adds a whole 'nother layer to the whole thing.
@meganlodon yea I think that's the point he was far from home so obviously running into another eagle wouldn't be that uncommon he thought it was his friend but then realized it wasn't and he started to miss his friend I'm that moment and again it reminded him of how much he missed his home
Yes. This movie shaped my childhood. I still have the soundtrack and watch it regularly. One of the most beautiful movies ever. So, at the beginning, Little Creek hears the wolf howl and hoots back, that was communication between him and another tribe member. Said tribe member threw the knife over the wall.
48:21 "When they got out, there was nobody but the horse.. the horses and Little Creek... I wish they showed us even just a shadow running away or something..." The 2 Native American friends who rode up 2 seconds later with the ropes to take Spirit and Little Creek back to camp: 🫥 🫥
As a little Native horse girl this one really hits. Rehearing that first line knowing what my ancestors have endured makes my heart ache. I love how these animated horses opened the eyes to a lot of the truth that Hollywood wouldn’t portray at the time.
Centering a young native man and his people gave this film true heart and authenticity. The newer revamped animation Netflix made for today’s kids completely omits any native characters/stories and it’s a big part of why that one feels like a bland flop.
This was my baby brother's favorite movie when he was about 5. He's 26 now, and I had totally forgotten about this movie. Thanks for the trip down memory lane, guys!!
This was THE movie for me when I was a kid. I had an obsession with horses. Of course, as a kid that was the main reason for watching it. Being older now, the story, animation, it all really hits different. Especially getting hit in the feels with nostalgia every time I hear any music from this movie. Love it so much.
Same ❤ I saw obsessed with horses when I was young and then I graduated from animation school and I still go back to this movie cuz it's just so beautiful ❤️
So how you miss someone tossing the knife over the fence made me laugh so much. All the hooting to the wolf howling was people making noises to each other.
This was my absolute number one movie as a kid to the point that I owned a stuffed Spirit, drew horses on every sheet of paper I could find, and forced my family to watch it practically every night. And yes, over 20 years later, I still listen to the gorgeous soundtrack. I love this movie so much.
It became a joke in my family. I watched that movie nearly every day, and now my family groans anytime they hear even a microsecond of the soundtrack.😅😅😅
When Little Creek is tied to the post you hear a bird call from outside the fence, then Little Creek does a return call and the knife comes flying over the fence.
Underrated for sure! This movie is in my soul. It shaped me so much and it's still a favorite as an adult. But aside from that, this was the one that got me really paying attention to movie scores and learning about the composers and I was only 12 or 13 at the time.
I love this film and the fact that you can understand the story WITHOUT talking. It’s such smart storytelling to get the audience to understand what’s happening with little to no dialogue?! If I remember the bonus features correctly, they added the eyebrows for the facial expressions too and that took time to hand draw. The soundtrack in beat with what Spirit is doing to help tell the story?! Insane. I loved the risk they took with this and yes I listen to the soundtrack on a regular basis in the gym 😂 BONUS: this is based off a book series that I read as a kid.
Hans and Dreamworks had a looong realtionship for animated movies. The Road to El Dorado, The Prince of Egypt's soundtrack is EPIC, Kung Fu Panda, Madagascar...
"Simplicity perfected" is an accurate way to sum this movie up. One of my very favorites since I saw in theaters as a kid! The emotions conveyed without dialogue made the animation stand out that much more. There were many conversations about horse eyebrows throughout production, I'm sure.
Spirit is based off a kids book series! When I discovered that as a kid after watching the movie a billion times, I read the heck out of those little books!! They’re about Rain & Spirit’s ancestors, told from the POV of a single horse. One of them, Bonita, even rode in the battle of the Alamo. Those books furthered my love of horses!❤
This was my favorite movie when I was little. I even had a Spirit themed birthday party where the cake looked like a grass field with the little horse figurines running across it. Good times lol 😂 the soundtrack had no business being that good either
STOP this is my favorite childhood movie. When I say I use to watch this EVERYDAY I’m not lying. I still sobbed when Spirit and Rain leave to go back to the other horses.
Honestly? This movie might be one of the greatest ever made, not just among animations but live action ones as well. It just has a timeless vibe to it!
What really gets me with this movie - every time - is the fact that even though Spirit "won" at the end of the story, we are all aware of how they really had no chance, looking at how the expansion towards the west actually took place. He succeeded in saving his homeland within the story- but did it last in the end? This also makes the story go full circle as it connects to the initial monologue by Matt Damon as he first introduces the story. Also, I totally see the scene of the horses having to pull the steam engine up the hill as really cynical of the settlers as for me it really felt like forcing you to burn down your own house. It's really heartbreaking when Spirit realises he is being used to harm the land he loves so much and he would give everything for. The horses, for me, represent the exploitation of the west and the ruthlessness exhibited by the settlers. I have so many feelings about this movie and I think, even though it really isn't as obvious about it, it's symbolism is very intricate and beautiful. It is very special to me and I listen to the soundtrack regularly. The pure desperation and the aching for freedom that can be felt through the score is really powerful and it lifts my mood instantly!
If you guys are watching animated movies, i would like to suggest Treasure Planet, it's an underrated older Disney movie, before they made the switch to making more 3D movies, but it has a ton of heart and i think you would enjoy it.
I think they should do a marathon of Treasure Island movies. Treasure Planet, a straight adaptation, and Muppet Treasure Island. (Am I just trying to sneak in a Muppets Movie? 100% I absolutely am)
We can call the eagle his friend, but it represents his freedom as well. When the eagle flew away it meant that he is not truly free yet. We can see this view
i grew up in a Native American boarding school on the Navajo Nation, & this movie was a favorite among many Native kids because many of us connected to the movie personally. wild horses & buffalo/bison are rare to see today because the United States government almost wiped them out in order to starve & immobilize the Native Americans. many families also lost a lot of livestock after the federal government implemented a livestock reduction act. many livestock were killed or stolen by the federal government because we had too much. but that was far from the truth. some families had less than a few animals, so when their livestock was "reduced," all their animals were killed or taken. wild animals like horses, were also affected because it gave the federal government another reason to "reduce" any & all livestock in the area.
Interesting story! There actually are a lot of mustangs, but the BLM (Bureau of Land Management) have to do yearly roundups to decrease the numbers for population control (sometimes there’s not enough food or water on the ranges, though people try to supply for them). With that aside, our country’s history really is interesting to learn.
what oak and dave said in the end about expressions and communication i found it reallyy unique and can resonate with children with a pure way , loved it as a kid , wholesome reaction
I am absolutely floored you guys are checking this out! It’s a movie I treasured as a child and was amazed at how much I feel it held up as an adult! I’m only 12 seconds in and haven’t gotten through your guys’ reaction yet; but I hope you all enjoy!
My kids are even obsessed with this movie. They call it the horsey movie and my daughter almost cries with excitement at the beginning when the herd comes up over the hill and the music kicks in. It's so great!😊
As a Native American who is Lakota and Diné it was one of my fav movies as a child because it was such nice representation for a kid like me! Great reaction ❤
This movie will always be so nostalgic because when I was a little kid, my dad, little brother, and I got lost while vacationing in Hawaii. We ended up walking into a theater and watching this and it was awesome.
When they cut his hair, even though he’s a horse, it represents indigenous hair to me. When I saw they had shears I gasped and shed a tear cause it was sad they did that to his mane.🪶❤️💛🤍🖤
Worth the price of admission just for Bryan Adams's soundtrack alone. I think I was the only 7-year-old watching this film when it came out who even knew who Bryan Adams is, but it made this one a classic for me.
This was my sisters favorite movie, she passed away last September. She watched it at least once a day and the last two weeks she was alive it was basically on loop, she didn't want to watch anything else. After she passed I added it to my playlist and I still listen to it. 💜
I watched this movie so much as a kid, that when the horses had ‘conversations’ with each other I pretty much just heard them talking. As an adult I am always amazed about how much is said without words in this movie.
As someone who works with horses for a living, I love how well they captured the horses personalities! They are so well done!! I have always love this movie and it has beautiful visual story telling!
I never thought of that. Dave, understandably expected the movie to take out the mom for some easy immediate sympathy, but no, this movie didn't do that. Spirit got to bring his wife home to meet him mom. Such a good movie. Needless to say I've seen it many times growing up.
This was a big time favorite of mine. I've watched it many many times. Last year, I introduced it to my wife, and she sobbed her heart out. She then called her mom, and told her to watch it who also sobbed her eyes out. Such a heartfelt movie.
I've noticed a lot of people miss this: That eagle was not his friend Eagle. He's far from his home and that's not the Eagles territory. It was a different eagle. It just brought back memories of his home and his friend. That part was always so sad to me.
I always thought the eagle was his friend but he had to turn around either because he was at the very edge of his territory, where the wilderness ends (the village is the border between the wild and human land). That he turns around and calls Spirit because he was looking for his horse friend and when he saw him, he was like "I need to go back to your herd tell them you're alive". As a kid I fully believed that was the point. The eagle symbolizes freedom. Entering skies above human village would be something he couldn't do. Seeing him reminds Spirit that he remains outside of the freedom he was at that point kind of giving up on and forgetting
@@llambdha5232 I take things very literally, so I'm sure the whole thing about the freedom is part of what it was supposed to mean. I don't know how big a bald eagle's territory spans or if they have a set territory, but Spirit was taken FAR away from home. Plus wouldn't the eagle have rejoiced and played with him if it was his friend? The eagle is never seen interacting with any other horses. Plus all bald eagle's look the same. The only difference is a song span between the male and females. How could Spirit know if if was his friend or not? It looked like him. Thinking he saw a friend from his home brought back the memories of his home that he had forgotten about as he was with Rain and in the village so long. At least, that's how I see it.
@@alexrogue18 oh, I always thought the eagle was THE eagle, I just assumed it as a kid because in the movie we know about only one bird. The territory area - I don't know much about bald eagles and I knew even less back then. To me he was s symbol. He could be wherever wilderness is. And that's why he couldn't greet Spirit. Spirit at the time was beyond the edge of wild areas. Among humans, with a tamed mare, with a rope on his neck. The eagle called to him but couldn't cross the border. And that made Spirit understand he kind of left his old self behind and needed to choose. He cannot be in both worlds at the same time, that's why right after that he's talking about his heart being torn two ways
It's so amazing how this one short scene from a movie can get us thinking! I like this movie, how it trusts the viewers, even kids, that they are able to decipher it. Even if our versions vary, both of them agree that this scene was about reminding spirit who he is. And it was just animation, sounds and music
YEEEEESSSSSS!!!!!! I owned this movie on dvd when I was a wee lass and let me tell ya, this movie was the most replayed and scratched film I owned. To this day it will jave one of my favourite osts of all time. Balto was a close second of animated films I was obsessed with. 😅❤❤
My moms car had a dvd player in it and since my whole family was super disorganized and all over the place, this was like the permanent film we’d watch on long trips bc it was the only thing we didn’t lose or break
So glad y’all went ahead and watched Spirit! It’s my absolute favorite. Something you boys might find interesting: Spirit basically has four different sources of voice - the typical horse vocalizations, Matt Damon’s monologue, Bryan Adams’ singing, and Hans Zimmer’s soundtrack.
I recieved this movie on DVD when it released right around Easter 2002...incredible, had special features and how the horses were animated. The story, the heart, the realism and connection with animals and even how the antagonists were just real Americans of the time and not sugar coating it in a coat of manifest destiny praise. This movie is gem
I think Spirit is definitely a nostalgic movie for most fans! I watched it almost weekly when I was little, I don't watch it much anymore but it will always be one of my faves! So glad you guys checked it out!
Since I'm blind I always have to watch the screen up close so watching movies with tons of dialogue is kinda tiring and I don't really enjoy watching movies or tv shows a lot. But this movie was amazing to see on my big screen at home or even on my phone. I not only could appreciate the visuals but also the story telling through my own eyes. I normally have to ask people what happened in a movie. This also made me appreciate the music. It really pulls at the heart. Spirit taught me a valuable lesson that even though I have a disability and can't live like a normal person, I stay positive and work with what I have. It shows hope even if it doesn't look like there will be. Im happy you guys reacted to such a treasured movie. ❤
I am going to put this very simply. I am 40 years old. I watched this movie, maybe when I was 20-22 or something. It's the best animated movie I have seen come out of USA, till date. The animation itself and the story, the characters and their arcs, the core theme of the story and the bgms and the songs, everything gets me even today.
Oh I’m so happy you watched this!🤩 It’s one of my favorite childhood movies! I still love watching it even as an adult, the fact that the horses don’t talk but you still can understand everything they want to say to the audience… and the soundtrack… just perfect!
My little sister was obsessed with horses when she was young, to the point she had a bookcase filled with horse books, could identify different breeds in her sleep, and had watched every horse movie ever made on planet Earth at least twice. Needless to say, this was her favorite movie growing up and, sharing a room and a TV with her meant, I have watched this at least 20+ times LMAO. Watching you guys react to this surely has brought happy childhood memories, so thanks!
OMG YESSSS: I'm so happy!!!! As a kid I absolutely adored this movie, the soundtrack still slaps, the movie has great representation and it's amazing how most of it is just a long monologue. This is one of those movies that still never fails to make me ball my eyes out and I love it for it. This movie also really got me into loving horses for the beautiful animals they are
Never have i clicked on one of your videos faster than with this and i love your videos. But this! This movie is my favorite movie of all time it was the first movie i made my partner watch and itll be the first movie i show our kids
Edit: Little Creek got the knife from his friends who rode up to them right after they left the fort, they were waiting nearby. During the night when Little Creek makes the howling noises (and Spirit thinks something about not understanding humans), he's signaling them and they're answering back (I assume he was telling them it was clear for them to toss the knife over the wall). I never understood that as a kid, wasn't until I watched it for the millionth time as an adult I realized that. I was obsessed with this movie as a kid. I had a horse themed 4th birthday party and know the soundtrack by heart. I still love watching it. The story, music, the blend of 2d and 3d animation is impeccable. One thing that I thought was so well done was Spirit's inner monologue in addition to having humans speaking. It allowed us to know what Spirit was seeing and thinking, while still having him act like a real horse, and not a talking, animated horse. You can see the comparison when you look at a film like Brother Bear (which is also a great movie in its own right), where you have the animals animated to actually be moving their mouths and speaking. It feels like a totally different environment than the scenes with humans.
I love that they were able to tell such an amazing, emotional story through very minimal voice acting.I love the change. Amazing how many times Ive cried haha
my oldest son was 2 years old when this movie came out and we watched it all the time (still have the DVD!) he's 24 and in the Army now ....we still watch this movie as a family every year
GOAT movie with goated soundtrack. I always cry when he reunites with Rain. I love that they didn’t go the usual route of giving the horses dubbed cartoon voices. It’s crazy how much can be communicated through just the body language and facial expressions of the horses alone.
This movie came out when I was 12, at this point I had been taking riding lessons for 5 years and just started leasing my first horse ( who would become my heart horse). I was, and still am, one of those crazy horse girls. This movie is a masterpiece to me. I do not have children, but I have a 2 year old niece who is starting to show interest in horses. You best believe this will be a regular I show her and encourage that passion. This movie also inspired me to get involved with mustangs. I take part in the 100 day mustang makeover challenges. There are a lot of mustangs in BLM holding facilities needing homes. The 100 day challenge is a competition. You get assigned a random feral mustang, you take it home and get 100 days to train the horse. You then take the horse to the competition and show off what the horse has accomplished. At the end the horses are auctioned off to good homes. They make great horses, and are very hardy. Some of the best trail horses I ever had.
I love Spirit! It's been my favorite movie since I was 6 years old! It's one of the first movies I remember going to the theater to watch. I still have the VHS, DVD, and CD and yes I still do listen to the CD in my truck! 🐎
22 years later, this is still one of my favorite movies and I still listen and know by heart the whole soundtrack. This might even be, as a French native speaker, one of the first English songs that I learned ! ❤
OH MY GOSH. Just as I hopped on YT to see if Badd Medicine posted anything new - I almost choked on air seeing THIS. The best and most unique animated movie of its time. HELL YEAH! Cheers, guys, I will be having great time for the next hour!!!
48:27 There was. They didn't hang around the fort during the day because everyone was awake. They didn't wanna get caught. But when Little Creek and Spirit caught up, Rain was the first to greet them. Then Little Creek's buddies put more ropes on Spirit. They were the buddies who communicated with Little Creek to get his location in the fort then threw the knife. :)
Let’s go!!!!! One of my all time favorite movies!!! Saying so much with so little dialogue and literally Bryan Adams went so damn hard in this sound track! 10/10
38:50 there was a scene at night where someone makes a noise and little creek responds before getting tossed a knife :) edit: you can actually see the scene at 13:50!
Yeah, and right after they escape, his 2 friends show up immediately with the ropes (only 2 seconds behind Rain). Somehow they all just completely forgot they existed 😂🥲
I LOVED this movie!!! Still listening to the songs? Man, I MEMORIZED these songs! This was the FIRST role for Matt Damon for me. Then i learned later the Bourne guy was Spirit! Hahaha. This is such a good film, so happy you guys enjoyed it. 🎉
36:40 not sure where Mason Quinn got that from. All Disney 2D animations are hand drawn, the last ones being The Princess and the From in 2009, and Winnie the Pooh in 2011. The alternative would be flash/cutout animations that have a completely different feel. And with the Advent of CGI animations, that short "Paperman" used a new technique where twice the work was put in: first they made a 3D CGI animation, then drew over it.
It wasn't until recently that I realized that the wolf howl from outside the fort while little creek was "who who"-ing was probably another Lakota communicating with him and figuring out his location. Yeah, we don't know who specifically threw the knife at him, but it must have been one of his buddies from the tribe.
I must be heavily emotional today, but I started crying the moment it started. I guess it reminded me of my daughter at the age of 4 asking me every day to put this on for her. She literally watched this everyday sometimes twice a day for months. But I never got tired of it
When I was itty bitty, my mom used to prop me up in front of the tv and put this on just to watch me fall over and get scared at the opening shot of the horses coming over the hill 😂
This movie is my ultimate comfort movie, it is so simply beautiful!!! It reminds me of ghibli movies that focus on simplicity. It is one of my favourite movie of all time! Loved watching your reactions💕
I was literally listening to “sound the bugle today” !! The entire soundtrack is golddd and I have the movie on dvd still from when I was little😭 one of my faves
This movie is 5 for me, favorite childhood movie that I often rewatch cause it brings me simple melancholic comfort, like no other movie can. It has absolutely amazing songtrack and i actually enjoy the lack of dialogue, because we can interpret the emotion and what the characters wanted to express without it.
In Spanish a cimarrón (emphasis on the o) is a captive/domestic animal that escapes to the wilds and becomes free. It can mean something like "indomitable."
You all reacting to Prince of Egypt would be everything. I know it can be touchy because it’s a religious story but it is so incredibly well done and the music is BEYOND.
This movie just gets better and better as I age. I’ve been watching it my entire life. And yes, Dave, I still listen to the soundtrack regularly in my Spotify lol!

Seemed kinda obvious lol
its really cool too! he is talking in animal noises
“Sound the Bugle” (the song in the train car) never fails to make me tear up every time I watch this. 😢
❤❤❤ same for me
it's on my sad playlist for when I'm feeling down! I will cry my eyes out until I can't cry anymore to this song!
Fun Fact: Bryan Adams sung the song after doing a concert so that his voice sounded raw and raspy!!
Sound the Bugle, Nothing I've ever Known, Rain, and Her I am can all get me to tears. Depends on where my emotional state is.
Same
This was my absolute number one movie as a kid to the point that I owned a stuffed Spirit, drew horses on every sheet of paper I could find, and forced my family to watch it practically every night. And yes, over 20 years later, I still listen to the gorgeous soundtrack. I love this movie so much.
Same here! My siblings got so annoyed😂😂
It became a joke in my family. I watched that movie nearly every day, and now my family groans anytime they hear even a microsecond of the soundtrack.😅😅😅
Yo!!! I think I had that same stuffed horse!!🤣 I used to pretend to ride it as a kid.
When Little Creek is tied to the post you hear a bird call from outside the fence, then Little Creek does a return call and the knife comes flying over the fence.
Criminally underrated movie and criminally underrated Hans Zimmer score. Love this movie to bits!
Wait really? What series?
@@BrokensoulRider Look up Kathleen Duey! There's like 4-5 books?
Hans and Dreamworks had a looong realtionship for animated movies. The Road to El Dorado, The Prince of Egypt's soundtrack is EPIC, Kung Fu Panda, Madagascar...
They need to watch Prince of Egypt!!!!
@@carolinaa.4407 yep, they do
Yes! El dorado and prince for sure they need to review
@@carolinaa.4407 100% agree
@@Lilcutiepie95 These are fantastic movies!!
I'm 32. Absolutely still play this... in my car, home sound system. Love this soundtrack. ❤
I'm 28. same.
"Simplicity perfected" is an accurate way to sum this movie up. One of my very favorites since I saw in theaters as a kid! The emotions conveyed without dialogue made the animation stand out that much more. There were many conversations about horse eyebrows throughout production, I'm sure.
It's rare to find a movie that all four of you haven't even heard of, let alone seen. Glad you guys watched this one!
I'm gonna have to check them out! I didn't know this!
I have those books! Such a fantastic read.
Yeah yeah I completely forgot about the books. All I could remember was the Barbie’s horse ranch lookin ass “sequel”
This was my favorite movie when I was little. I even had a Spirit themed birthday party where the cake looked like a grass field with the little horse figurines running across it. Good times lol 😂 the soundtrack had no business being that good either
Same! And that is my sister's take away from it, was that Hans Zimmer and Bryan Adams had no business going that hard 😂
I own the movie AND soundtrack
What an awesome birthday
STOP this is my favorite childhood movie. When I say I use to watch this EVERYDAY I’m not lying. I still sobbed when Spirit and Rain leave to go back to the other horses.
Honestly? This movie might be one of the greatest ever made, not just among animations but live action ones as well. It just has a timeless vibe to it!
This is definitely a movie I didn't expect to ever hit this channel, but I am NOT complaining whatsoever! 💜
By the way, when they escaped the fort, remember that Little Creek's two buddies rode up and lassoed Spirit. They threw him the knife earlier.
If you guys are watching animated movies, i would like to suggest Treasure Planet, it's an underrated older Disney movie, before they made the switch to making more 3D movies, but it has a ton of heart and i think you would enjoy it.
Oh yes please!!!! They'd love it 😊
I agree! Although I am 💯 sure Oak is gonna tear up at one particular speech... because I do as an adult as well!
YES PLEASE OML
I think they should do a marathon of Treasure Island movies. Treasure Planet, a straight adaptation, and Muppet Treasure Island. (Am I just trying to sneak in a Muppets Movie? 100% I absolutely am)
YESSS, Treasure planet never gets the attention it deserves and it's so cool!!!
Did you ever watch Ice Age 2002?
Interesting story! There actually are a lot of mustangs, but the BLM (Bureau of Land Management) have to do yearly roundups to decrease the numbers for population control (sometimes there’s not enough food or water on the ranges, though people try to supply for them).
With that aside, our country’s history really is interesting to learn.
Thank you for recognizing the bullet wound in Rain's shoulder. You'd be surprised how many people miss it.
I noticed that when I first saw the movie but I find it funny how they were trying to deny it because they didn't want to her to die.
what oak and dave said in the end about expressions and communication i found it reallyy unique and can resonate with children with a pure way , loved it as a kid , wholesome reaction
My brother is deaf and he loved this movie so much because the characters had to be so expressive because there weren't any voice actors
I am absolutely floored you guys are checking this out! It’s a movie I treasured as a child and was amazed at how much I feel it held up as an adult! I’m only 12 seconds in and haven’t gotten through your guys’ reaction yet; but I hope you all enjoy!
"Without that gut punch"
EXCUSE ME SIR but I cry my eyes out every time Spirit gets on that train
My kids are even obsessed with this movie. They call it the horsey movie and my daughter almost cries with excitement at the beginning when the herd comes up over the hill and the music kicks in. It's so great!😊
As a Native American who is Lakota and Diné it was one of my fav movies as a child because it was such nice representation for a kid like me! Great reaction ❤
Im so glad Oak was able to appreciate this masterpiece for what it is, it deserved at least one 5 ❤❤❤
And his mane regrowing by the end IMO symbolized resilience and overcoming the challenges.
Me and my mom still say "Horsey!" like the little girl as our own inside joke to this day
I do that too with the arms stretched upward 🤣👌.
Buh bye horsey!
Worth the price of admission just for Bryan Adams's soundtrack alone. I think I was the only 7-year-old watching this film when it came out who even knew who Bryan Adams is, but it made this one a classic for me.
And Hans Zimmer!
This was my sisters favorite movie, she passed away last September. She watched it at least once a day and the last two weeks she was alive it was basically on loop, she didn't want to watch anything else. After she passed I added it to my playlist and I still listen to it. 💜
*The Oak stands firm and proud, much like Spirit Who Could Not Be Broken* 🐎😂💜
Just gotta say that this has been my childhood. I watched this more than 100 times and it was my favorite movie as a child. Still is. 😢❤
I watched this movie so much as a kid, that when the horses had ‘conversations’ with each other I pretty much just heard them talking. As an adult I am always amazed about how much is said without words in this movie.
I used to watch this movie constantly as a kid! The music is so freaking good!
Had it on vhs, how'd you get it on dvd back then?
My moms car had a dvd player in it and since my whole family was super disorganized and all over the place, this was like the permanent film we’d watch on long trips bc it was the only thing we didn’t lose or break
omg yes this and Balto!!! They need to react to Balto !!!!
One of my favorite childhood movies. Bryan Adams KILLED the soundtrack.
INSTANT click, Spirit is a childhood movie for me, thank you guys for reviewing this.
dude im 21 and this and balto were my FAVORITE movie as a child i love this shit so much bra
A "feel-good movie" he says. I hadn't seen it in ages and just watching it in this reaction made me cry, again 😆
I love that they were able to tell such an amazing, emotional story through very minimal voice acting.I love the change. Amazing how many times Ive cried haha
my oldest son was 2 years old when this movie came out and we watched it all the time (still have the DVD!) he's 24 and in the Army now ....we still watch this movie as a family every year
This movie is basically my childhood! I think it aged so well.
The animation and music are still awesome 🙌🏻
Some of the best trail horses I ever had.
i listen to the soundtrack to this day, it never fails to make me cry :’)
I’m now 20 years old and still hands down my favourite movie
This movie have one of best OST. And last chase was so epic.
OH MY GOSH. Just as I hopped on YT to see if Badd Medicine posted anything new - I almost choked on air seeing THIS. The best and most unique animated movie of its time. HELL YEAH! Cheers, guys, I will be having great time for the next hour!!!
I always cry with this film. I was five when this movie came out, and it makes me cry to this day.
Saw the thumbnail and got scared.. This movie hurt so much when I was young haha. Here we go boys :')
Love this movie! I still randomly find myself singing the soundtrack.
As a horse girl this movie was a signature of my childhood and it is still such a work of art to this day
Let’s go!!!!! One of my all time favorite movies!!! Saying so much with so little dialogue and literally Bryan Adams went so damn hard in this sound track! 10/10
38:50 there was a scene at night where someone makes a noise and little creek responds before getting tossed a knife :)
edit: you can actually see the scene at 13:50!
This movie never fails to make me cry.
It’s the music- it’s so nostalgic
The music from this is fantastic. “I Will Always Return” gets me emotional
When I was younger I watched this movie everyday for two years and now I use the soundtrack too fall asleep to
It wasn't until recently that I realized that the wolf howl from outside the fort while little creek was "who who"-ing was probably another Lakota communicating with him and figuring out his location. Yeah, we don't know who specifically threw the knife at him, but it must have been one of his buddies from the tribe.
It's so BEAUTIFUL! Crying again as always. What a masterpiece! 😭💖
I must be heavily emotional today, but I started crying the moment it started. I guess it reminded me of my daughter at the age of 4 asking me every day to put this on for her. She literally watched this everyday sometimes twice a day for months. But I never got tired of it
"Who still listens to this soundtrack" Hans Zimmer on the score? And all these bangers by Bryan Adams?? You bet your ass I do!!
When I was itty bitty, my mom used to prop me up in front of the tv and put this on just to watch me fall over and get scared at the opening shot of the horses coming over the hill 😂
One of the greatest movies from dreamworks!
As someone BORN in 2002 and is now 21 this movie and sound track live in my mind (and spotify) rent free
