  • My first ever TH-cam video. This e-Niro has been transformative for me. I discuss winter driving in Scotland for my pensioner lifestyle, mostly short local drives and how the actual range compares to the predicted range and how this car has eradicated the dreaded range anxiety that I had with both Nissan Leaf and Peugeot e2008.

I’ve had my Kia e-Niro for 2 years on lease now and love it. Thinking of keeping it I love it so much.

My Kia Soul EV is rock solid on range. Can get to Bournemouth from Cheshire which is 230 miles in winter without charging and efficiency is excellent. Much better then my E208 where the range fell off a cliff in winter!

Thanks! Really useful to hear, currently trying to choose between a used Niro or Tesla Model 3. Your style of review feels far more useful than some of the more mainstream folks! So much more informative.

Thank you. I considered the Tesla too. I could have got a 2nd hand for about 7k more than the Niro but decided I couldn't justify the extra money. I'm glad now that I went for The e-Niro. I think if I was a high mileage driver I would have gone for the Tesla just for the charging network.

Sorry for your loss. 🙏 I enjoyed my 2019 Niro EV, I'm sure the Niro will do well for you.

I would certainly go for the Niro. I think the Peugeot has more kerb appeal, I thought it was a really stylish car but the Niro has much better range and is more efficient. The E-2008 as I pointed out in the video would never match up to the range it said on the dashboard. The Niro is always really accurate. Good luck with whatever you choose.

No contest e-Niro is quite possibly the sweet spot of all EVs for cost to purchase, driving range and equipment. We have one there is NO other car I would change it fir!

I have had a Kia E-Niro 4+ now 3 years old after a Leaf 24KW for 5 years before that. Yes they are remarkable cars very comfortable and well made and a great drive train and battery which is same as the Hyundai cars. The Battery management system manages the batteries much better than the Leaf and others so that battery degradation, which is small as the battery does not overheat as it did in the Leaf, is compensated by the BMS within the Battery cache so range is not compromised. I charge mine to 80 % and once a month to 100% as this helps the BMS do its thing and the Guess O meter calibrates itself which is recommended in the manual. You are right you will get more miles in summer. Long journeys - the Charge place Scotland in Scotland and Gridserve chargers in England on motorways are expensive but pretty reliable on long journeys. Mine charges upto 77KW on some of the the rapids. One at A1 Grantham services is excellent with about 15 by 150KW chargers on my way from Newcastle to London.

I have just bought my first EV and the e Niro 4+ was my choice, managed to get a 2021 just under three years old with only 5000 miles on the clock. I’m absolutely made up with it so far, charge once a week at home and very happy with the range. I’m planning to do some longer trips soon but will never plan to charge away from home or at a holiday cottage, otherwise we will use our other car a dirty diesel! This is first car with apple car play and only tried it today and again very impressed but hated the cable requirement and learned from you ( an OAP no offence) that you can get an dongle, so just ordered one and it will here tomorrow. FYI I have fitted today a frunk box, expensive but really good quality, with the intention of keeping both charging cables in it, the only disappointment is that it takes those with loads of space left but can’t think of thing else to put in there as yet, so a good problem 😂 it came with gas struts not fitted those yet but that will make access very easy. Thinking of getting a space saver wheel and jack, £100ish on eBay, what do you think? plenty of room under the boot floor. Looking forward to more stuff from you

It just seems like KIA are being honest about their car's specification in real world terms.

Absolutely, on paper both the Leaf and the e-2008 should have easily been adequate for my requirements but neither of them were without me stressing about getting home without charging. The e-Niro has been a game changer for me. I did consider trying to stretch my budget to get an early Tesla but I'm glad that I didn't.

The KIA and sister Hyundai EVs have very accurate GOMs 'Guess o Meters'
Both makes have a hidden 'buffer' of battery capacity you cannot see, it is very likely that at 3 years old your battery state of health will still be 100%. We drive from the Midlands, to the Welsh border, south to the Welsh valleys and back to the Midlands, 280 miles, we have 40 miles left and have no need to charge away from home at all

Thanks. It's never occured to me to do one of these before but I was so pleased with the Niro I just got the urge. I know I've watched lots of videos of people usually comparing them to Teslas and trawling up and down motorways but I'm sure there are more people like me out there. Thanks for watching and for commenting.

It's so good to see someone in your age on this platform speaking like a human being to another human being not hurrying anywhere and not using fanci new words that are cool or mandatory nowadays. So again, keep it up! :)
