Made it; love it! It’s a lot of cutting, so be aware. I’ve been sewing for 56 years and this bag took me about 17 hours total to make. Suggestions: Don’t rush through the cutting process, purchase a little extra fabric, get the denim needles, it takes a full small spool of thread (not the really small ones, but not the larger one either), attach a piece of paper for each piece you cut so you can easily identify them, print out her instructions in color and mark her 4 fabric squares with your choices so you don’t get mixed up, make sure you measure carefully after each section is completed (trust me on this), use a long stitch (I used a 4 on my machine). Good luck! Totally worth the time!
Hello Cynthia. I really appreciate your input here❣️ just have one question for you. It looked like the author of this video was using a walking foot. I haven’t seen anyone comment on using one unless I missed it, which could be the case. I have also been sewing for many years and want to do this as a Christmas gift for my daughter who went back to college. Any other hints or advice would be greatly appreciated BEFORE I start. Warm regards, Tami Roberts🧵🪡
I have looked online for months trying to find a tutorial for EXACTLY what I want in a bag and I finally found it! I am so looking forward to making this bag. Thank you for including the timestamps and most especially for a thorough, easy to follow, list of materials. I wrote them in my sewing notebook as well as all the links you provided. Due to your generosity, I plan to support you by purchasing items through those links.
I simply love watching your tutorials. I repeat myself by saying they are the best on the web! Watching you sew is like seeing poetry in motion 😊. All your perfectly matched seams and straight edges - it’s beautiful to watch.
I finally got around to making this beautiful bag. I’ve made three of them and on each one that final seam at the top to attach the zipper panels was my undoing! Although my domestic machine is usually a workhorse and will power through anything, I simply could not get a nice straight topstitch on these, even though I used a denim needle on one and a leather needle on another. My solution on the third bag was to sew the zipper panels onto the lining only, and lower them a bit, about a quarter inch. Then sew the lining to the exterior. It’s not perfect but I love it. Yoan, thank you again for all your amazing tutorials!❤️
I just made this. First time making anything this complicated. I sewed the entire bag on my Wilcox and Gibbs hand crank chain stitch machine from 1885, so you don’t need a walking foot to make this bag. I love my new laptop bag.
This baby is a project! I'm learning so much though and I think it's going to be so cute and can hold my work laptop when I'm done. I got stuck on the exterior bottom gusset. I can't get the corners to match - so frustrating. I have to keep going over that section on the video to see what you were doing with the corners. Almost done with the exterior part, just gotta get my corners right . 🙂
Thank you Yoan for this amazing tutorial. I made this bag and cannot believe how beautiful it came out. Thanks to you for making it simple to understand.
I LOVE this bag. I made a Christmas Holiday version and I love it. I may make it again, but I will add a velcro strap to hold the computer pocket closed and I will add a luggage strap on the back so I can put it on my luggage. I put a piece of very stiff interfacing in the bottom to try to keep it from sagging. It only took me 7 hours start to finish to make the bag. One more tip I would give that save time is to iron the pieces of fusible web interfacing onto the pieces and then cut the interfacing. The interfacing is a pain to cut, but it's easier if it's already glued to a piece of fabric. The 7 hours includes all of the cutting and I had to take out a few things and redo them. I always use zippers with bigger zip tags because I hate trying to get that little zipper tag and pull it. This means I have to modify things just a little becaue they are wider than the standard zipper. Plus the bigger ones look more professional. You can order them in bigger quantities fairly cheap on Amazon. Sewing the bag together at the end is hard because it's so thick, but it can be done. I do love this bag!
Really enjoyed this video. Your voice is very soothing and encouraging as you give very clear, concise instructions. I expect that I will have great results as I attempt making this bag even as a beginner.
You described everything so perfectly. Easy to understand and not confusing at all. Thank you for this tutorial. I can't wait to see other tutorials by you🙌🏾❤💜
I do agree that this bag is gorgeous. I really liked the way this bag functions, so I decided to make this bag, so I followed all your instructions except I had added a few changes. I added a luggage holder on the back side and the tab for the bag zipper I made it triangular and then on the one side of the bag I added a pocket for water or cell phone. I made this for my daughter for her job. Thank you I really enjoyed making it and it took me 2 days. I think that I could of finished it sooner but I took some brakes to care for my grand babies. Thank you again.
Thank you for this great tutorial, everything was well explained and easy to follow! I've never made a bag before, but I was able to follow the tutorial and now I have a bag I wanted for a long time. I just have one comment for those who will make this - make sure that the foam stabilizer is quite thin, mine was 0,5 cm thick and it wasn't easy to sew the exterior pieces together. Or, if you use a thicker foam, make sure to leave more space around the foam, so that you can sew comfortably. Thank you again Yoan!
You did an amazing job with instructions. I wish I could show you the final bag! I’m so proud of it!!! Thank you. I will be following your tutorial again in the future
Thank you so much Ms. Yoan❣️❣️. I DID IT !! Just finished this project for my daughter who went back to college at the age of 48. She gets to graduate with her bachelors degree in June of 2022. I’m so very proud of her and her accomplishments as she pursues her degree while working full time. She is absolutely going to love this made by her mom. I followed your instructions to a T and it turned out beautiful ❣️❣️👏👏❣️ What a fantastic tutorial !!!

Thank you for this pattern and video. I have made 3 laptop bags from another bagmaker's site, and she is wonderful. But her patterns are hard for me, and it is not always the exact design I want. I am so grateful for people who share their talents, so I won't ever knock someone's efforts to serve others. But this pattern, for me, will be my go-to from now on. Thank you! I've subscribed!

Hi Yoan, your video was so easy to follow that I made my first complex bag and absolutely love it. I can't work out how to add a photo of it here, but if I ever do, I'll post it up. I recently took a trip interstate and used the bag as my main carry-on bag and it was fantastic - so comfortable and perfectly practical. Thank you so much for your brilliant video.
So glad to hear that Maureen, unfortunately you couldn't post any pics here on youtube, you can try tagging me on Instagram or FB if you're on either platforms.

Thanks Yoan for another inspirational bag! This may have to be a project from my daughter's laptop, as a Christmas present. She will be off to uni next year, all being well with the world, and most likely away from home. Would love to have her be reminded of her mother whenever she uses such a bag. Hello I just came across your tutorial on this gorgeous bag and so glad I watched it! I have also subscribed so I hope you're still making fantastic tutorials like this. Thank you for sharing your wonderful talent! ❤
I simply love this laptop bag, I can't wait to make my own following your specific instructions. I see you posted this video three years ago but found it only yesterday. I can't understand why I haven't seen it sooner as I am always looking for tutorials for bags and this one is so original and practical with the dividers. I do have a question in hope someone will answer. Can this bag be done with faux leather instead of fabric for the outside of the bag? Thank you so much for this tutorial Yoan!
I cannot wait to go home and make this! thank you for the tutorial and I can't believe you're giving this pattern away for free! I think you should charge at least $13 for the pattern!!!!
I really love this one, but could you make a smaller version of it? I'm afraid to try making a smaller version all by myself. Your tutorials are so very helpful and easy to understand. Thank you.
you may be interested in this project ==> th-cam.com/video/k8AY3KzmpzY/w-d-xo.html , it has similarities to this bag, but smaller, and with magnetic snap closure instead. Thank you.
Hi Yoan I love your sewing tutorials and actually you TH-cam cell phone bag tutorial was the very 1st one I watched and made many gifts from…so thank you so much for teaching me sew bags ..I am so grateful since I love it so much …and I appreciate your kind and nice personality ☺️ I would love to make this bag but can you please advise measurements if I need to scale it down to 13” wide instead. Thank you in advance of your time 😊
Hello, thank you so much for your lovely comment. Unfortunately i don't provide different measurements, i have similar project smaller than this (about 12.5" wide), ==> th-cam.com/video/k8AY3KzmpzY/w-d-xo.html
My machine will not sew through one layer of double sided tape without skipping stitches much less two layers of double sided tape. My question is what machine are you using and needle and thread? Very nice explanation of sewing the tote.
Thank you so much for putting everything in inches, as this is so helpful to me. I am to old to learn the metric system. I found your channel, subscribed and look forward to learning from you. Belva Cheney
Nicely done. I want to make a laptop bag similar to this one for my son. I like how you did the interior of the bag with all the pockets, delivers and zipper pocket. How hard will it be to make one with a flap instead of a zipper for the exterior similar to a messenger bag. Hopefully I’m explaining it right. It’s a beautiful bag though. Love your work too.
My only wish is that the voice was a bit louder. I have my volume up as high as it can go and it is still low. I only wanted to mention this in case this is something you may be able to change on your end. OTHERWISE YOUR VIDEOS ARE FANTASTIC!!!
Thank you, my recent videos have better audios now ;), unfortunately I couldn't edit the older ones, you may try using earbuds or subtitles if that could help ❤️
Hi Yoan. I just discovered this tutorial and I had started making it coz I need a laptop bag. I’ve already finished the panel 1 and 2 and had sewn in the straps . I just realized that this is for a 15” laptop. My laptop is 16”. How do I make it a little bigger to fit my 16” laptop? Please reply . Thank you !
Hi Yoan! I love all your videos....they are the most detailed of them all. I have one question. On pocket #3 is it 19" x 16.5" or 9 x 16.5"? I've seen it both ways here. Thank you so very much.🙂
Hi Lenore , the measurements of the pocket 3 should be 16.5” x 19” (same as in the video). I have revised the pattern accordingly, thanks for pointing it out, and apologize for the confusion. Happy Sewing!!
I absolutely love this bag! I can’t wait to try this for my best friend. Is there a cut list? I like to have everything cut and interfaced before I start assembling.
Ciao!É bellissima! It's wonderfull!😍 This is the first time that I watch your video!I love your jobs!!☺ Congratulation!! I have recently started sewing, and I don't know very well fusible interfacing...I'd like to sew this bag..but I find Vilene interfacing..How can I replace fusible fleece and fusible woven interfacing? And foam stabilizer? Can you give me an advice, please? Thanks!😘 Thanks for share😘
Hi Yoan I have made this already with the smitten collection It turned out beautiful...I am doing one now with a Disney motif question could I made this bag quilted ?
1/8" foam stabilizer, look for the one specifically made for bag making such as flex foam, bosal, or soft and stable, i believe i put some links to the products i used in the description box ⬆️

I love watching your Tutorials 😍😍😍
Thank you! 😊
Thanks Yoan for a great project i have completed my bag.
Glad to hear that Sandy, anytime.
My machine will not sew through one layer of double sided tape without skipping stitches much less two layers of double sided tape. My question is what machine are you using and needle and thread? Very nice explanation of sewing the tote.
Well done.
I have been waiting for your video during this lockdown. Thank you 😊
As always you are amazing ❤️
Zanobia Sewing You’re welcome!! Stay safe, thank you!
I love this bag. I think I can do it.....thank you so much for your clarity
Trank you very much, Yoan!

You're very welcome Belva
Q maravilla ,q buena explicación,tome nota de todo,un trabajo delicado meticuloso limpio la felicito ,es muy buena
Great laptop bag. I would love to see a duffel bag tutorial by you I think you would do a great one.
Debbie Lucas Thank you! Will take that into consideration ❤️❤️
This is a fantastic video for even sewing newbies like me. Would you also consider making simple laptop bag (gents style) with just one/two pocket(s).
Hermoso 😍 gracias por compartir tus conocimientos 💕 no entendí cuál es la medida de la tira larga para colgar en el hombro? Gracias
I see that you like to use your walking foot for this whole project....very nice
Yes, I'm obsessed with walking foot :D. Thanks Lynette!
@@YoanSewingStudio but wait!!!!me too...just recently tho.....I used to be afraid to use it.....now I love it 😊
Nicely done.
Wow, fue una coincidencia encontrar este canal
Me encanta como explica ❤
Wowwwww,that's awesome mam
Another superb project
Just superb
U r a genius
Gauri Girme Thank you ❤️
This is amazing bag! I was wondering if you can do a laptop sleeve?
Great video. Can’t wait to make one.
I really like this bag but I wonder if you have something like this but just for a laptop not all the inside pockets but kind of like a zipper sleeve
You can do that. Just follow this tutorial and don't add the extra pockets.
This bag can support a maximum load of how many kilograms? Thanks for amazing video 🤩🙏
You are such a Great teacher! Hugs
Thank you!
TFS... I will try to work on this project
Thank You for material list and tutorial. 🙏💜
Anytime Benita.
Thank you !
Your tutorials are awesome!
Thank you!!
Thank you just what I was looking for. You made my day beautiful work!
patricia Kinton So glad! Happy sewing, thank you!
I love this bag! Can I ask what foot you’re using for 1/4 and 1/8? Looks like it has holes on each side!
@@YoanSewingStudio Thank you for the update. I will take photos of my completed bag. I'm so excited to see the outcome. Thanks.😁
Great work!!! Love this bag!!! Thank you!
Thank you so much!
I absolutely love this bag! I can’t wait to try this for my best friend. Is there a cut list? I like to have everything cut and interfaced before I start assembling.
yes, it's in the description box 👆 or you can click this link bit.ly/3dbqOXA . Thank you
@@YoanSewingStudio fantastic!! Thank you

Awesome tutorial!
Are the anchors strong enough to hold laptop, cords, notebooks etc in this bag - I felt it would not be strong enough
Hi Yoan I have made this already with the smitten collection It turned out beautiful...I am doing one now with a Disney motif question could I made this bag quilted ?
HI Mabel, you should be able to make this bag quilted :)
Love this tutorial, trying to gather all the supplies to try it out! Just wondering about what thickness is the foam stabilizer?
1/8" foam stabilizer, look for the one specifically made for bag making such as flex foam, bosal, or soft and stable, i believe i put some links to the products i used in the description box ⬆️
Great teaching video!!!
So schöne Stimme hast du 😊🌸
Thank you...:)
Thank you so much!! Just what I was looking for :)
You're very welcome Katie!
