Man around 1:45 there's an edit of Descartes when Maso says "I think" and that shit cracked me up. Ben and Collings do so much work to bring your conversations to life. Always appreciate and am influenced by them
“And over the last few years we have heard a lot about something called ‘family values’. And like many of you, I have struggled to figure out what that means. And since my accident, I've found a definition that seems to make sense. I think it means that we're all family. And that we all have value.” Christopher Reeve, speaking at the Democratic National Convention in 1996. What a Super Man.
Robin Williams wasn't his best friend for nothing, Reeves was a real decent guy. Family values was of course the dog whistle used by hard-Right wing politicians to attack black kids without fathers, the fathers being killed or imprisoned by those same Right wing politicians, or their Fathers, often both.
In defense of the first two Superman films: my life has enough horrible reality and cynicism as it is. Let me enjoy something a little corny that revives my more wholesome qualities.
Tbh this is a thing movie spiderman and superman really lack nowadays. Both of these characters are defined strongly by being really friendly heroes who, like, save and help people. We really should have at least some part just showing them moving about helping people.
Did you know that when Yvonne Blake designed the superman costume for Superman (1978) she wanted the costume to have a peculiar or special type of blue which was extremely hard to get and that led to the working title of the movie beeing called "Blue Harvest"
The reason why I will always prefer this version over Snyder’s is that for some reason in the DCEU Superman was portrayed as this emotionless demigod who doesn’t understand humanity and only cares about Lois Lane. Where here he’s portrayed as he should be, a man who grew up on earth, had friends, and good loving parents who encouraged him to do the right thing and eventually become Superman.
The first movie i ever saw in theater as a kid was either Superman 3 or Return of the Jedi. Can't remember. For that reason alone, I'll always love Superman 3...even though I remember falling asleep.
Terence Stamp smiling while he one handed fires an M16 in full-auto without even blinking is one of the most cool and Super things I’ve ever seen. He smiles like it’s a fun toy. SO good.
@MarineMike true. 80s and 90s seemed so full of promise and a mere 20 years later, you have openly nazi people saying very nazi things and not being checked on it
You have no idea if that's true. Because information wasn't revealed about every step of the process like it is today. The first time most fans would've heard about this movie at all would be a trailer or magazine ad. They'd have no idea about the potential casting
Well I'd say Superman Returns was made with heart and passion and despite its many flaws, this movie sometimes moves me to tears with its score and cinematography, which is more than I can say about Man Of Steel
@BonJoviBeatlesLedZep did they do the extended edition? Maybe they can do an episode of superman & Lois or an Arrowverse episode. I guess it is blockbuster season they could ignore it
@@jaysemitchells497 Looking online for a place to watch Chris Reeve's Superman made me realize that it's very difficult to find the original theatrical cut now. Almost all of them are the 20 minute extended cut or Directors 3 hour cut.
They should do a Richards cut where lois lane just constantly tries to bring out superman. Include all of the scenes. You can do all of the build up scenes first, and then the fire trip scene and then a brain wipe kiss, and then finish with the shooting scene.
If I had a nickle for everytime a superman movie has a mustash controversy I'd have two nickles. Which isn't alot but it's weird that it's happened twice. 20:30

For around 4:00 - how said it is that, when mentioning the big names in the case, Glen Ford, as Jonathan, isn't mentioned. This was a man who was in a huge range of movies, from cynical noirs like "Gilda" to funny, witty comedies like "The Gazebo". He plays a key scene in the movie, and gives Jonathan a lovely quality that we see feeds into Clark's character. It would be kind of nice to remember him a little.
I like these guys but they're heavily biased towards whatever came out recently. My guess is they neither know nor care about Glenn Ford (they did an entire King Kong video without mentioning Willis O'Brien).
Stealth Lex Luthor cameo in Supergirl: That big action sequence contains gratuitous product-placement of a Popeye's Fried Chicken. They had to stop using the Rodney clip because there was an issue with green screening, so they had to switch to a bluesceen which incidentally blue harvest was the working Title of Return of the Jedi

It is basically a love letter and he says that you should go watch Superman III with fresh eyes and not let be influenced by the mainstream opinion that it is garbage. He also describes several scenes as being masterfully directed.

I live in the grain belt, and the clark kent legitimately reminded me of a farmer I went to church with. Kind, friendly, soft spoken, but would bare hand box a bucking bull

I appreciate Superman Returns as a direct sequel to Superman 2. Where the memory wiping kiss on Lois never worked, but it did pee her off enough to pretend it did.
