I enjoy Oddie's channel as well, Ron. Like you, he comes up with some fantastic stories - many of them vintage. Catherine's tale is an interesting one. Glad she was acquitted of the "crime." In my opinion, Luigi got exactly what he deserved. No mercy for child abusers!!!

If I found the right person, Catherine (Sciappa Fino) De Ninno passed away in Florida in 1992. She was born in 1910. So she may be interred by her husband with no marker? I’ll do some more digging.

What a dramatic story!! Poor Catherine, first being raped as a child by a disgusting creep family member. Then she marries and gets blackmailed and her husband tosses her out. I don't blame her for doing what she did- that monster ruined her life and it was a blame the victim scenario afterwards at least for a while. I hope that she was able to find happiness when her husband did the right thing finally and took her back. I wonder if she's buried next to her husband but unmarked? Thank you Ron for telling this story and so well! Rest in Peace Catherine 🌷 🙏

My wife's grandmother was a DiNinno, whose parents came from Palermo, Sicily at the turn of the century. Her parents ran a small grocery store, and they lived upstairs. She earned an Economics degree in 1941. She was a very smart lady who I really liked and admired. She married a young US Army Air Force Lt., who flew in WWII. Damn, that generation was amazing.

Being raped at the age of 12 in her own home was horrific especially in the era and being an immigrant. Actually glad the rapist got his punishment. I wonder if she's buried somewhere else after her husband died. Maybe she moved with her children.

I love Oddie's channel. As for Catherine's husband: what a heel! At that time though she really didn't have much choice but to accept him back in her life. What options were available for a 16 year old girl? He obviously didn't take his vows seriously. "For better or worse" ring a bell? I don't know how she could have lived with such a man after he basically threw her to the wolves. What kind of a man doesn't support his wife when she's being blackmailed by a criminal like Luigi? I wouldn't want to be buried next to him either.

I'm an Oddie fan and have been for a long time. I was drawn to your channel because you mixed history, my favorite subject in school and one I taught for 22 years, with graveyards, which my second husband and I loved to explore. When I taught my students, I'd always tell them..."we're not here to study events or remember dates, although some dates are important. We are here to learn his (and her) story because it's people who made the history and their lives are important"-- or words to that effect. I adore both of your channels. Keep on sharing.
