Chora, up the hill, is much nicer than the port village, and there are some wonderful hikes & beaches. Folegandros was one of my favorites from my Greek trip in 2019.

Man, you are just kicking out the content must be exhausting. Trying to edit every video every day and get out there and figure out what to shoot keep up the amazing work
How can you be disappointed about the Artemis? It's one of the most loved ferries in the Cyclades by experienced island hoppers. Btw, much bigger ferries are too big for some of the ports/islands where the Artemis goes. Adjusting your dates to the ferry timetables would have enabled you to go from Kythnos to Folegandros in 6 hours instead of 11. To do so you should have taken the Dionisios Solomos again.

Why not to bike to Lavrio? There are some who bike around the world let alone some laughable distance to Lavrio
Folegandros is the worst island to explore by bike, but it's great, enjoy it! The road to the Hora will make you think what the Eff' I'm doing here? but I think once you are in the Hora you will agree it's the best in the Greek islands
Inspiring video, I booked a flight to Athens (€122,= from Eindhoven round trip 8 kg backpack) then from Athens to Spetses, Hydra, Poros Athens (interrail €85, = four boat trips included) afterwards maybe Kytnos. Adio Edwin

As you docked in Syros, I could clearly see the place I stayed at for a few nights back in November 2021! A beautiful place with my own huge roof terrace overlooking the harbour...very cheap too. 😊

Don’t know about you Gabe, but my favourite thing about the Greek islands is travelling on the Greek ferries and the adventure of getting there. 😃👍 safe travels mate.
Gabe when you are in Folegandros you have to visit Church of Panagia, Chora, Agali Beach and Agios Nikolaos Beach hope you are still there when I post this😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀

I actually enjoyed the ferry ride so no complaints. Good food at the end. I always enjoy a Greek Salad because no restaurant around hear knows what I’m asking for- even 69 miles away. Gads!!!
When you are walking down those beautiful narrow streets with the blue and white which I love.. it reminds of many beautiful Cornish towns like St Ives , that have many empty properties only used as holiday let’s or homes because the local people can’t afford the rental… having said I really am enjoying another of your Greek island adventures ❤

From kythnos or Syros you can take the ferry to Kea. It’s beautiful island.

Hey Gabriel, this ferry ride is so lovely, Reminds me of my life in Greece when travel was done by boats. Today's ferries are fast and modern. If you travel during day time a cabin is not the best way to enjoy the blue Agean sea and the sea breeze. Have a great time in Folegandros and I am looking forward to the exploration of the island. You could have just gone to Syros and take later a bigger boat with cabins etc
It's better that way. Over-tourism ruins the genuine feel of the Greek islands.
15:36 OMG since you travel in Greece I got totally addicted to classical Greek Salads (Horiatiki) my fridge is stuffed with feta, bell peppers, tomatoes, cucumber, onions, olives and vinaigrette sauce. Love it! Apparently the Greek serve the salad with the feta as one big slab on top, slathered with olive oil and oregano, but I like to crumble the feta cheese into chunks, that's also easier for eating it. Cheers!
It varies, sometimes it's crumbled or in large chunks, but usually it's one big slab. The feta and olives are basically what lures me into the Greek salads, otherwise I never eat salads. But I have one almost every day in Greece.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos If you ask me, a healthy choice! Because it also contains veggies like tomatoes, bellpeppers and cucumber. All good sources of fibers and Vitamin C. The olives and feta cheese bring a nice umami salty flavour to the salad. It's really a great combination.

Hi Gabriel, so many islands to choose from one stop on any of those islands would have been okay there's still a sizable number to check out. I love those Greek salads it always looks the same at every restaurant you've been to.
Folegandros is on my list, has been for a couple of years! Just wondering though why you don't tell us the names of the places you are staying! Is that in case you get unwanted subscribers turning up at the door?

If you ask Greeks which are their favorite islands, many will reply (have replied): Amorgos, Patmos, Samothraki, and Folegandros.

Not really only if they have some interest in these islands. Lefkada kefalonia zakinthos Corfu (on the west) , Rhodes Naxos paros skiathos Lesvos even myconos and of course Crete.

Scorpios would be a cool island to visit, I reckon. That is where the Onassises lived, Jackie Kennedy and Aristotle. It would be cool to see their pad and grounds.

It's a private island belonging to a very rich Russian. So unfortunately you can only "tour" the island from a distance.

While of course a very nice trip, it is a shame how barren most of these islands are. This is absolutely not how it always used to be. Of course deforestation has been going on for a very long time. Like the Canary Islands, the ecosystems are so fragile that once the trees are gone they do not simply grow back. Over there they are replanting loads of new trees to help the ecosystem restore itself over time.
Only the Cyclades group of islands are dry and barren (and not all of them, Naxos and Paros heave enough greenery). The rest of the Greek islands and of course the Greek mainland is surprisingly green...

Thank you for the relaxed tripping around the world all these years dude. One tip from us about the music: we have tried...really tried Gabriel....to like it or even just to put up with it---ignore it etc....but please please just make a change.....do it yourself or whatever but CHANGE IT. The music from several years ago was much much better......but now not so good...Sorry. Had to say it. Otherwise your videos are the very best.....like "homegrown" country vibes.

Gabriel is one of the best travel vloggers out there!
He's like a good friend telling you about his adventures.
And he has not sold out like others (Kara and Nate et.al.) have. Gabe's down-to-earth, friendly, super interesting, reasonably close to my age so I can relate well, and he travels solo mostly which is what I do as well.
Yet I'm amazed at that roundabout ferry trip. And god only knows how he has all that gear and rides a bicycle! But he makes it awesome.

When Greece first joined the EU, they were taking in some serious support. Every month it seemed they were getting another $5b-$10b. Even today, I think they are the costliest member.
FIRST
I caught an overnight ferry from Pireaus to Lesvos, and booked an overnight cabin. It was so good, well worth the extra $$ for such a long journey.
