Welcome to Hiroshima. About 350,000 people were living in Hiroshima at that time, according to the report issued by Japan.

This is a city where world's first fission blast on a city has occured by the United States of America. Japanese people had succeeded in a great development in technology and in life quality after the nuke took place. Visiting Hiroshima/Japan was kind of a life lesson for me.

I’m from Oklahoma City and my grandma said that on the day of the Murrah building bombing she was supposed to take my aunt (her sister) up there to check on some personal records of my aunts. They were supposed to go that morning but my aunt got ready late and decided that they should go tomorrow. If they would’ve went that morning I would’ve never seen my grandma or aunt in my lifetime. The bombing happened before I was born.

I have rarely ever wanted to hug someone MORE than I want to hug Asai! He is such a beautiful person!
I’m American now, but I immigrated here from Mexico-so I carry the same amount of sadness, but not the same kind of emotional guilt that many *born Americans* feel about the atomic bombings.
Even though most people alive today have/had no direct connection to the event, I know that 99% of Americans (while understanding the events that led to the bombings) still feel great pain for the innocent lives that were lost, affected and for the prolonged suffering that has resulted from it…
So it truly soothes my heart to know that many of the Japanese people (especially those that are of that time, like Asai) don’t hate us for it today.
Because I deeply love the beautiful Japanese people and cultures, but I also absolutely adore my new homeland and all of the beautiful people and cultures here as well.
So I’m very happy that 2 of the countries I love most in the world, were able to forgive each other and work together, towards preventing anything like this from happening between us (and hopefully ANYWHERE ELSE) ever again. 🇺🇸❤️🇯🇵
