Camera work in this video was incredible. The drone shots of the island, showing how enormous these cliffs are and the way the sunlight hit the grass in the morning after the first night, not to mention the astrophotography. Really stunning.
An epic episode. Outside comfort zone for Gido means impossible for most of us! Oceancraft skills, ropework skills, catching food skills, no fear. He makes those "wild survival" programmes (with a video crew backup) look like the wimps they really are 😎👍💪💥

The fear of the unknown is what makes it an adventure, from a viewer prospective just watching it was worth it..
An epic place and the drone footage of whales and the rugged area was awesome, you also caught fish plus, the drama of the catamaran break down, and doing it all by yourself.
i don't think people understand just how much physical effort and endurance it requires to make an adventure like this happen.

Thankyou AGAIN for my daily dose of your fishing adventures. It really ignites my passion for catching and cooking as what I used to do sooo many times together with my son Michael. I used to do all sorts of stupid things like quit good jobs, marriages, sell my little supply of worldly possessions and pitch up our huge tent for weeks and months at a time just so I can live near a beach and river and do the hippie style with my son! What a blast that little angler is!

Thicker drag rope on the front could give you a better handhold for this kind of heavy work. Of all the videos you do, this is my favorite kind of adventures to watch. Long distance, multi-day kayak/boat camping trip, fully loaded with dangerous take out and put in; at which point, the drone work and fishing with catch and cook are icing on the cake.

If the sea lion attacks you are you allowed to defend yourself with one of those heavy rocks or is it some sort of park and the humans well being is of less a concern ?

Amazing video. Capturing the scenery & wildlife in person would have been incredible - and for us to see it is even better. Pushing ourselves out of our comfort zone is both a little stressful but also rewarding. Those AIs are tough but not unbreakable, but you certainly made it work for the return journey. Any further repairs before you made the mainland?

What a journey Mate.You are surely a master at what you are doing.Agree that those surges worried me.Ask me.I was washed off twice in my lifetime and lucky to be able to tell the story.A thicker rope with knots tied at intervals would surely increase your ability to put more pulling power on the kayak.Stay safe and take care.Greetings from a cold and wet South Africa.
Getting washed of the rocks would be horrible, good to hear you survived!
Agreed a thicker rope would help. Im not sure how hard I’d want to pull before thou incase I pulled the front fittings off.
As someone that has used the Islands for years (and sold my fair share), when I watched you haul that thing up the rocks every component I expected to see broken was broken. What you had to contend with there is precisely why I have always avoided trying to land on an island that doesn't have a beach landing.
Also I would suggest that you would be far better off using a Glide Tech Drive over the MD180 for big open ocean trips. GT drives are like AK47s (more reliable). MD180 drives are like AR15s (more features). The former has less moving parts and performs just as well, if not better than an MD180. I have never seen a single broken component on the new GTKU drive but can't say the same for the MD180. If I was still active today I'd be using the GTKU drive for missions like that.

yeah mate gutsy as goin out there with bruce!! when you crumb yr fish you dont need the egg make a seasoned thin batter bring a couple of small sandwich bags with the seasoned flour! just add water then coat and then crumb way more sticks! amazing spot take care!!

remote motor on kayak is a must,, a sea drone.forget the dangerous landing work small motorcycle battery to small wench on kayak only needed a few times might cost 10 kilos or less to kayak increase safety a lot,,i have used all of this my self as I'm disabled

I've just moved to Dampier and have a whole archipelago to explore but have been hesitant cause I'll be by myself.

Dampier has some great islands to explore. Probably have phone reception in a lot of places too which helps ease into being solo. Enjoy
