I have a couple of liberal friends. So far, we are keeping it civil.
I've known many people on the left who had good intentions, but overall they were the most intolerant group of people I've ever personally known--and absolutely not just in regard to those with political differences. They could never see it in that way because to them all their intolerances and biases were good ones and helped to better the world in their minds. This sort of "my side is always justified in everything because we are the good ones" idea was like a free pass meaning nothing they did could ever be seen as bad, including being closed-minded, unfair, mean spirited, discriminatory, slanderous, etc.

I think it started with Obama. Obama was more of a tipping point, America stopped voting for policies and started voting on looks/ speeches/ how the media portrayed someone. The liberal media machine went into overdrive, and pushed Obama into the white house. When faced with him or Romny(?) I think it was, the second term, his opponent wasn't able to hold up against the machine. On top of that, Obama was able to wine and dine many groups with promises he never would keep. Biden doesn't have that same charisma. No matter how much they over work the liberal media machine, Trump pulls ahead. Why? Because people are seeing the machine behind the curtain. They are fed up with being lied to, right to their faces. You can't lie when someone is looking at the proof of the lie, every single day. "Orange man, bad." won't work this time.

I've talked about it with some of my more liberal friends. They say "I'm not voting this year.." rather than admit trump would be better this go around. Trump's "policies" mostly consist of grifting and scamming people. He has no core convictons other than self-enrichment and enacted no legislative "policies" while President other than giving his rich friends and donors a huge tax cut. The people ignorant of Trump's "policies" are his actual voters. Ask a typical MAGA voter what they know about Project 2025 and they look at you blankly. You tell them it's a blueprint for how Trump plans to usher in an authoritarian government and they'll say you are lying. They're very stupid people.
