Stopped at a neighbor’s on the way home, alleges that Cricket killed one of their chickens (SHE’S the one who let her out of the car!) & that Noem whipped out her checkbook which she apparently takes w/her on hunting expeditions & wrote the neighbor a check. Went home, shot Cricket point blank in a gravel pit. NEVER ONE WORD ABOUT THE DOG BEING VICIOUS OR DANGEROUS. Kids were never mentioned UNTIL she writes that she next killed a family goat WHO USED TO GET HER KIDS’ CLOTHES DIRTY! (It was a FARM ANIMAL NOT A FRENCH POODLE!) Shot the goat but only had 1 bullet which just gravely injured the it so she left poor Goaty in agony while she went to get more ammo. Then BAM, finished off the goat.

I grew up on a ranch and we had herding dogs that worked stock. We never killed any of them. We had one puppy that was so excitable around stock that he couldn't work properly. We gave him away to an appropriate home.

That being said, surrendering a dog to experienced trainers or a competently run shelter is completely appropriate. There are even hundreds of breed specific rescue organizations that also evaluate the animal in question, work to rehabilitate any issue the pet may have and make proper and safe placements in a new home. I have owned and worked with thousands of animals in my lifetime, including breeding,training and grooming dogs, and i would almost vouch, sight unseen, that this dog would not meet the criteria in which euthanasia is the only option. First, this dog is not known to be a viscous breed. In fact, they tend to be great family dogs. Second, her complaints initially were regarding her frustration of the dog not performing,ruining her hunt, and attacking chickens that she apparently let the dog have access to. She then suggests the dog allegedly was aggressive possibly when she tried to separate the dog during the attack,but also states she had used electric shock as a mode of training. What I see here is negligence, inexperience of the nature of dogs,improper training and abuse which can cause stress and be counterproductive, causing an animal to act out and be aggressive. These can also cause a dog to develop major trust issues and become a viscous animal, but that is usually in severe cases over time. This dog was still young, acting on its bird dog instincts, and probably confused as hell when Noem wasn’t happy when it was nabbing chickens. Sad that it had to lose its life over rather typical bird dog behavior, and in such a cruel way.

I took a dog that the owners were afraid of and she was not viscous she just had their number. She knew they were afraid of her and she too advantage of them. I was not afraid. I had her for 11 years.

I actually quite liked her until her judgment lapse on this dog story and her subsequent failure to admit the truth. Thankfully, this happened now rather than mid campaign because she was short listed for VP. No question. But the way she treated this story, the way the dog gets more vicious with every interview is problematic. Her credibility is now hugely and appropriately in question. Talk about destroying her own chances. It's stunning. She's just telling tales to cover what she rather shockingly did.
She changed her story from the puppy killing chickens and "going to bite her" to it being vicious, killing livestock and attacking people. If the dog was vicious, why would she take it on a pheasant hunt with other dogs and people, and why would she stop at her neighbor's farm who had chickens and let the dog out? She's talking out her @$$.

@@GraceEvans-us7uy A filthy baby pig is not a fun, energetic and happy puppy that runs and plays with children. A dog isn't fattened up for slaughter to feed the family either. My children were each given a calf when they turned 10 by their grandparents and they loved them all the while knowing they would eventually be taken to market, sold and the money received placed into an account with their name on it. Just saying Cricket didn't have to die in such a horrifically cruel and inhumane way. He didn't need to die because a heartless woman had a bad day.

She also said the dog was having the time of it's life and wouldn't hunt. Here's a question, doesn't a responsible dog owner keep it on a leash?
