Hawk Mountain Outer Loop Hike, What were we thinking?

Photowalk at Hawk Mountain along the outer loop with my a6500. Next time I'll research and prepare better.
This photo hike was taken in late October at Hawk Mountain, in Kempton PA along the Appalachian trail in eastern PA. This was the hardest hike we’ve taken to date. A little more than 6 miles with 4 being up hill and over cliffs of rocks and boulders. It’s not my best effort of video and photography, but halfway through the hike I was just trying to survive and complete in one piece.
I started taking hikes and photowalks for exercise and to improve my photography and videography. Taking to heart the quote from famous photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson, “Your first 10,000 photos are your worst.” Also the advice 10,000 steps daily will have huge mental and physical benefits and support healthy weight loss. Hoping to combine both of these together to improve my photography and health.

Awesome hike, friend! I've been to Hawk Mountain several times, and you're absolutely right. Hiking down into the valley and back out is no joke. Another similar hike is the Pinnacle trail. It's just south of the preserve and offers similar hiking and views, but it's free. Check it out!

Hi Mike - thanks so much for the response and the suggestion. I'll add the Pinnacle Trail to my list to research and check out. We will definitely go back to Hawk Mountain but spend more time along the main ridge line and enjoy the views. If we do take the loop we will be more prepared.
