      Al Gore has been the single most destructive person for climate science in human history.... his dumb and completely idiotic presentations have probabally encouraged more climates skeptics they are correct than any other single person on this planet.... the main reason is he has no actual clue at all of what he is talking about and simply rabbits "fact" after "fact"
      if real actual scientists had his platform... we would have stopped burning carbon ages ago... instead we had this doofus

    They haven't harm the environment and kill small retailers, ecosystem. We need to re-consider the importance of "three direction good", not only for one, or share stake holders but also for invisible multi-stake holders.

    Funny, I haven't seen any young people chanting "We want multi-stakeholder capitalism!" To be clear, Gore does a good surveying our current ecological situation. But in failing to mention how indigenuous nations have enriched ecosystems for thousands of years, it's clear he doesn't understand the fundamental shift in world view that is called for. It's definitely not more capitalism-- in fact it's the polar opposite of the "nature-vs-human" worldview that he's putting forth here.

    I don't think it's fair to paint nuclear as non-viable. It IS a key to our most prudent path forward. That minimal increase in cost is because the rules and regs around it have TIGHTENED, making it safer. That is a GOOD thing.

    • @DavidSanchez-vx4bv

      In fact, nuclear energy is the BEST alternative for a system to generate enough electricity with less climate impact. Energy production cost is NOT the only factor to consider. • @OntoBunny
      @OntoBunny 3 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      That's a legitimate concern. However replacing all ice vehicles with electric won't solve the problem (though it would help). A real solution is to reduce waste by creating robust public transportation, and rebuild our infrastructure to encourage pedestrians and cyclists wherever possible. Make it so that owning a car can be optional in stead of a requirement.
      There's a lot more information about this on the TH-cam channel called 'Not Just Bikes'

    • @robertwilliamson3276
      @robertwilliamson3276 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@OntoBunny I agree but I don’t think most would approve of more public transportation with the virus ongoing( and probably won’t end ). It’s also difficult for those that work miles away from work. I work 12 miles away from my job and can get there in 15 minutes driving. An electric bike would take me 30-45 minutes. On top of that you have to consider the elements when using a bike.

    Nuclear is viable for a period of time. It’s too polemic to say it isn’t. Nuclear isn’t a permanent solution, nor is it a solution for unstable or dangerous nations (due to the ability to produce weapons), but it’s a *very good* solution for the next 75-100 years where we can finally move to a fully sustainable energy generation capability. Said another way: it’s the absolute best choice we have for now and we should just do it and also plan for its retirement.
    However, that makes for a complex statement and it’s difficult to get people to buy into planned obsolescence-except in this case, the future of the planet depends upon us having enough time to move to 100% green energy that has no negative byproducts. We just don’t have the storage capability to handle power loads at night time, for now. It’s just going to take time to get the battery and energy storage market up to speed, more time than we have.
    Right now, we have dips in energy generation at night and when the wind isn’t strong. We have to spin up gas turbines to make up the deficit due to that unreliability-because we have no real way to store excess electricity and thus nothing to pull from when there’s a deficit. We have to use nuclear to make consistent power until the time comes that we can store the green energy for access during low production times.

The economic shock of sudden change could lead to crazy amounts of starvation and war. Especially int he developing world. I'm no expert but that's the primary concern as I understand it. Like millions of people, I've just switched off, because i really don't care anymore.
    I've seen the ugliness of humanity for far too many years, to care anymore.
    We deserve what we get, because the majority of humans are assholes, greedy, selfish, ignorant, arrogant, living in our bubbles.
    We have become so disconnected with the natural world & possessed by the comforts of technology.
    I feel sad & upset mostly for the wild animals, because they didn't participate in all of this insanity, yet are suffering because of our stupidity.
    I don't feel sorry for Earth, because she will survive our stupidity once we humans are extinct & trust me, that day is coming.
    Planet Earth will survive us after we are gone.
    Trying to educate humans & the filthy rich, is like giving a teenager your credit card & hoping they will spend wisely lol sigh

      You are young and don't realize it was much worse in the 60's when rivers were catching on fire and people were having seizures from car fumes in traffic, while toxic pesticides were sprayed at schools with children present. People have taken the generation that made significant changes for granted. I felt gloom and doom until I watched a documentary that showed how the environmental movement succeeded back then. By contacting our elected officials who are working for us and pressuring them positive results will ensue, as evidenced by the millions of dollars being spent by my state to clean up Lake Erie and it's aquaducts. Unlike previous generations, people today complain but do not demand action.
      We demanded it and now something is being done with the Governor backing it up too which is their job (& is a Republican btw). I tell people plant a garden or put up a birdfeeder and do a birdcount once a year with Cornell University, plant some trees, and I can promise you the naysayers will get a wake up call and take action. Good always takes longer to work but eventually overcomes evil.

      I feel the same way at times but like Jane Goodall said: "You won't get anywhere just talking to people - you have to connect through the heart for change".
      I tried her approach and it does work. Mostly I have gotten people off pesticides, to create wildlife habitats and recycle.
      It's a wake up call especially when you get into the estrogen / testosterone issue, but all in all the environmental movement changed things because back then people spoke up and contacted their state representatives and held them accountable. It was the minority that got it going. Today we are in a more apathetic society which gets you no where. Lastly, I can attest to the small changes I have made have made a big difference.
