Not exactly. Loki and Basim share DNA thanks to Loki taking over Basim's mind. But Basim was person of his own, before Loki did it. The Basim we meet in Mirage will be the true Basim and Loki will probably experience his past before he himself occupied him.

Asgard is the reimagination of Eivor seeing his past life as viking mythology, if you unlock the secret ending by getting all 10 anomolies you will see that past life and how basim stabbed one of the ones taking that tech before the eruption and fought of the god and took his place. thats why he is reborn as basim.
Just made it to the ending and this was absolutely insane to watch. They’re really about to pull a “multiverse” event with different timelines. Every Assassin is going to appear in a Unity like co-op I’m guaranteeing it
The last scene with basim the way he got up screaming,his voice, look, his voice the music makes it seem like he will be an antagonist assassin who will basically try to shape the world the way he sees fit
Then, I guess that the Templars and the remaining Assassin's have to intervene to stop him and with this, the concept that the world can only remain stable if Assassin's and Templars work together, not against each other will prove correct. Good thing about Valhalla is that it put Layla out from series for forever.

so you're telling me that "the reader" or Desmond spent 8 years in the gray visiting possible timelines and never thought of visiting timelines where Desmond refused to sacrifice himself ... and people say this is good story telling, that line was only put there to make Layla look smarter but makes the whole scene look ridiculous...
Desmond wasn’t exactly the brightest of minds even when we played as him. When he was transported to the gray I’m pretty sure it took him some time to adjust to the whole new reader role and upon visiting so many timelines he started to completely lose his identity and forget about his own existence. That’s why when Layla mentions his name he’s like “Desmond?”. As he mentioned to Layla he starts from the point at which a crucial event happens; the only thing he knows for sure. He needed another fresh perspective from someone who was recently a normal human. That’s where Layla or Eve comes in as it was foretold by Juno in brotherhood that they will need to awaken the sixth together.
@@fuckingloser2817 like I said, upon visiting so many timelines he started to completely forget that event ever occurring and about the existence of his old self. How would he go back to when Desmond died if he doesn’t remember that happening due to all the alternate timelines he’s visiting substituting the memories he already had. When Layla joined him and he told her what he was doing she reminded him of that event and suggested he reads those timelines. Maybe he knew to check there, just never remembered. That’s why Juno predicted he’d need someone to accompany him awakening the sixth.
Remember when Desmond opened Achilles Davenport's grave to find an artifact and they had the decency to not show Achilles' remains... Now Eivor's skeletons are just exposed in the open and get taunted by Basim... such disrespect
Well not really. In AC2 yes, but everything after that was about finding the Apple and preventing the World from destruction in AC3. Black Flag started with the whole "ISU/Sage" - Story and now we are here.
I always thought a legit Modern Day AC game with Desmond would've been crazy. Desmond v. Basim in modern day would be awesome, but dodging bullets are harder than arrows haha
They could've used Shards of Eden, ring like pieces of eden that use magnetic fields to block projectiles and just have it so its got a limited charge, so you can survive for a while, but you're not invincible
Does it feel weird thatl Basim is practically a living fossil for Assassins? Because I think some of us wanted to see a long dead Assassin/Hidden One in Modern Day Era. Anyone thought of that?
They would've had a better opportunity with Kassandra in that case, though maybe she just knew too much for that. Besides, he wouldn't know all that much, and he's not that old, and he may not have been some large assassin figure, so.
@@CamSiv996 Well, Kassandra was born in like 460BC, and she implies she's been fighting the good fight to maintain balance all the way up until Layla meets her. So she would have in depth knowledge of the assassin's/templar's and every iteration of them, bar Origin's. I'm sure Basim has a lot of knowledge on some more specific hidden one related things, though, of his time and time past.

They know he's a reincarnation of an Isu, and they have a history of dealing with that so yeah they are cautious, but personally I don't think Loki gonna kill them cause he's Loki, the god of schemer.

Valhalla did something to me that no Assassin's Creed game has done in 10 years, it made me excited to see where the modern day story will go next as oppose to me rolling my eyes whenever I had any modern day sections.

i think the reason they made the reader as pure energy is because they had hard time convincing the motion capture artist Francisco Randez to return . He was the face model for Desmond , plus he was sick of people calling him Desmond all the time he chose not to return . i hope if they do bring desmond back they get a new facial model or at least use Francisco's old face model because the dude looks more french now .

@@jesquesan Yup they're Isu reincarnations of them both. Eden staff wouldn't bring a non-Isu back like that. So if you tossed that staff into Eivor's grave, they'd probably come back, too. That's why there is no world where Basim is a good guy. Loki the trickster won't stop being a trickster, after all.
Well it might be an interesting shift to see a protagonist come from the templar side of things. Much like the father from AC3 but for the whole game fighting against Basim. Maybe even as you mentioned ending with him ressurecting Desmond to deal with Basim once and for all.

This game would been great if it wasn’t long and didn’t drag out with all the repetitive side missions. I stopped playing for a few months because I got bored but I finally got back into it and finished it. The storyline was good but it felt short because of all those in between side missions. Those missions where you pledge an alliance should have been like 5 of them and the rest leaving room for a story to build on..
Ngl I thought in the end of AC Syndicate they were implying that by using "The Shroud" they would be able to bring Desmond back from the dead. If I remember right, Abstergo was said to have retrieved his body shortly after AC3. Then again, I think others have tried to revive dead people with it with no success :/
Yea In AC4 the employee says they got the DNA strands from Desmond and that’s how they’re able to look into his ancestors memories without Desmond himself

Lol, i know this is a joke but i just wanted to remember that ac was historically inaccurate long before ac origins, odyssey and valhalla, an example of this is in ac 1 when altair killed robert de sable in 1191 when in fact robert de sable died in 1193.
The way he ensured that the Animus is in good hands and that THEY have invented such things long ago, tells me that Becs and Shaun know that Basim is Loki. Basim could never have invented an Animus, but Loki and the Isu were able to build great things.
It is obvious they know who he is thanks to distaste they show towards him and also show no reaction to him mentioning they built it years before them.
I haven’t played all of Valhalla yet, in fact I’ve yet to even get to the second act. But if this is how the game ends in the modern setting, then it would be a key to showing how Infinity would actually work as a live service game. At least story wise.
On one hand, eyyy, Basim in the modern day. Seems like for once, the modern day story is doing something. On the other hand, he has a man bun. @@AmirysMewen True, but his villainy in the game is more out of his hate towards Odin as Loki, which I can't blame him since Odin is an asshole. He probably wasn't aware that Eivor didn't know about him being Odin or he's preventing Odin's awakening by killing Eivor. In her perspective, Basim has simply gone mad. Other than that, he doesn't seems to have any ill will towards humans like Juno and even still follows the creed as Basim. But, it is Loki, after all. With his plan to find his children alongside Alethia using the Assassins, maybe he has an ulterior motive but I can't keep my hopes up because Ubisoft.

Loki does genuinely enjoy working with the Assassins/Hidden Ones, because the group was founded to counter the Order of the Ancients and is composed of former slaves and people who lost everything due to the abuse of power.....like himself. He didn't defect to the Order because they reminded him too much of Odin and not in a good way.
He still gives off "I will stab you in the back" vibes tho. Not through his expressions, but his voice. It just sounds smug and careless towards Shawn and Rebecca. If their goals won't align with his own, he will remove them if necessary. Btw I really hope that since Mirage will be story driven and won't have dialogues, we will get proper motion capture with proper facial expressions and not this playdoll generator.
Dear Darby, Thanks for making all the terrible use of lore from the last game actually make sense to the story as a whole. I am very very very excited for modern day stories now, which is something that hasn’t happened since ac 3.
@@tiagod20104 I'm an old fan and I love this game. Did you actually finish the game or play a couple hours and throw it away. Because this is easily the best AC game since Black Flag.
I'll die on this hill. Killing Desmond was the biggest mistake of the franchise. Sure the games after 3 were still good, Black Flag was amazing, Rogue and to an extent Unity were underrated, Syndicate was great and Origins was also great, but after killing Desmond the series just completely lost its purpose. It also didn't help that they didn't give us a good follow up character after they killed him, I've played all the AC games besides Odyssey and Valhalla, I couldn't tell you the name of any of the modern day characters beside from Shaun and Rebecca.
So we have both protagonists doing for years what Doctor Strange with the Time Stone did in minutes.... It also feels like the writers copped out and decided out of the blue that Layla's story should mirror Desmond's, right to the ending.
I mean EVERYONE knew where Layla was going in this game it was setup since origins especially in odyssey. Now how good of a Modern day story we get with Basim in the next few ac games is what matters really, plus I kinda wanna know more about the isu more than ever like I did in ac2,brotherhood, revelation ac3 and ac black flag. Since Aletheia who said that she wanted to help humans ended up being the same as like Juno and minerva who just used Desmond for their own needs. I just hope the next ac game is better optimized and has better models and facial animations
@MinecraftPro15 I know that but just like Juno , Minerva Aletheia still kept a secret from us she said she wanted to help without any ulterior motive but clearly that wasn’t the case, was it? she HAD ulterior motive have Basim get the staff. Even if she doesn’t want to enslave humans like Juno. Aletheia kept her real motive from us just like Juno and Minerva kept a big secret from Desmond about him dying, if he saves the planet he dies. a last minute choice with no way out, it was same for Layla even if it saved the planet. Which is why I find this so interesting are all isu same always keeping their self interest first? Or is their atleast one isu who has no ulterior motive and only wants to help who knows. Plus I knew that eve things was for Layla when we meet the reader and she stayed back.
Well to put it into perspective Strange lived through all those possibilities And so did desmond and Basim The difference could be the amount of realities It could be that Desmond is living through even more realities Remember Basim said that he lived through possible realities just to pinpoint Eviors POSSIBLE grave So yea strange could have lived through even more realities after 14 million but he got lucky and found the one that they won Desmond on the other hand is still searching for that one possible future in which they win
Well, we dunno yet. He is mischievous character. He could be the antagonist or a protagonist. Because we lack either one if Basim become one of those...

Currently, replaying The Ezio Trilogy of Assassins Creed. This was and still is my favorite Assassins Creed game. Never really played the new AC games past Assassins Creed 3. I always wondered what happened to the Desmond Miles story. Watching this im glad they never gave up on it. It was always very interesting to me.
14:12 That just pisses me off so much! The whole point of the Atlantis DLC was so Layla can learn to MASTER THE STAFF through Kassandra! Kassandra can manifest the staff at will and literally says "it's like the staff is becoming a part of me"... Only for Layla to fcking drop it!!

This is the ending that I got. Not sure if this is the only ending but all I have to say is holy crap… like wow. This game would been great if it wasn’t long and didn’t drag out with all the repetitive side missions. But I have to say the next AC needs to take place in present day! Seriously! It’s long overdue. And having Basim (Loki) as the main character would be interesting to see… I’m not against it. I can see him being an anti-hero perhaps… who knows but it was a cool ending. Not a bad ending or a good ending. It was more of a bittersweet ending. Everyone got what they wanted, all the characters at peace with their choices so yea.
But most of humanity will die and Desmond doesn't want that, it's a matter gamble, saving humanity to find other possibilities to maintain and seal the power of the artifacts, or use the power of the artifacts for the better future but making sacrifices..

idk why some people hate the ending just because Basim(Loki) is the one in the animus lookin at Eivor's memory. Loki is a "villain" according to Odin who was actually a tyrant.

It would be kinda interesting if Otso Berg was actually the reincarnated Odin in the present day, considering that Layla was under the influence of Alethiea when she faced him and killed him in Odyssey. Perhaps Alethiea realized Otso Berg was Odin reincarnated and gave Layla extra incentive to kill him.
Actually in Ac brotherhood there is a part called the Truth where a holographic figure tells Desmond to find Eve in his timeline. So my theory is that Eve is none other than Layla who probably found a way to escape the simulation / she betrayed the reader and went to the past probably in Desmond's timeline, the holographic figure is the reader and he is playing the part of Adam.
For those who doubt its desmond or not yes, its desmond he resides in grey juno confirmed it as she too is some what similar. And maybe he's the adam and was searching for eve as clay told him.
Also, it’s the same voice actor. They aren’t gonna use the same voice actor for a different character within the same continuity. So it’s a pretty dead give away lol
Lol, the fact that Shaun suggests she calls them when she’s topside again immediately after she suggests the same thing with the same wording. Love him or hate him, it’s nice to know he’s the only consistent thing in the whole series.
Bassim survived during 1147 years because he used eden staff? And now he can get all skills, memories and secrets of Eivor? This final say that him will be the next protagonist for the next assasins creed, and maybe that him be an ancestor of ezio auditore, he looks a lot a ezio in assasins creed revelations and they was were in Turkey.
Seems more like antagonist, it has been made clear that templar, assassin, in the end want the same thing, you can easily play as a templar and be a good protagonist
@@assassin3003 I havent played the game yet, but he seems to have his own interests of some sort along with Alethia. Though he doesn't seem like a dude who wants to wreck the whole humanity just for the heck of it, otherwise he would never have helped Desmond in there tho.

@@masterbrawler196 Basim said that he had a son, the Wolf Fenrir, he is a ISU, precursor or god's ascent, whatever that we called it, I guess that Fenrir had childrens with a woman. Eivor is a sage of Odin and Basim are a sage of Loki, they have high concentrations DNA precursor's in their blood, for that reason they can unlock all powers on anything eden artefact.
Not really sure if he'll be a protagonist. I think the point of him being controllable at the end was just so that Eivor's story is totally concluded. I think he'll be a major antagonist in the future given his manipulative nature though I'm not sure yet how that would play out given that Eivor and Sigurd are already dead and his revenge is long past.
if he protagonist it could be like shay cormac at first "good" then "bad" but instead becasue he felt the assasisns were wrong he just has his own plans and need templars to do what he wants
My assumption is that Odin and Loki are like the Sages. They get reincarnated in people throughout history. So Odin may actually be alive somewhere despite Eivor being dead.
I think this the right direction after 3 because after ac 3, ac 4 was just about like uuuhhh, edward only, Nothing about the modern day but this game gives us the proper continuation to ac 3

@@namelessfaceinthecrowd2459 1) it's a video game... where you got stabbed didn't matter. 2) he didn't get impaled high enough to guarantee death, unless he bled out from the wound. why make the last scene you see of a character show him alive and moving. There's no finality in his fate shown in that scene. 3)he could have backup and possibly be healed by some isu artifact.
Desmond’s consciousness theory confirmed Adam and Eve arc is back Juno is dead Humans in the position of Isu abilities can sort through timelines in an Animus-esque fashion And a new Sage is now the new modern protagonist The modern plot is moving again
I litterally asked my cousin "What if because people hated Layla so much they make an even worse protagonist to replace her so people would demand her back like with Desmond?" To which we laughed why couldnt I be wrong.
Why the hell would fans demand a character that's bad? Ubisoft should just make assasins creed rest and make a new IP with these these TPS RPG Looter they butchered Ghost Recon when they tried to push a Loot mechanic on it and now Assassins Creed.
Man. Loki is so popular probably thanks to Marvel's version that he's now getting spotlight in other adaptations as well, lol. We have Atreus from GoW, now Basim from Valhalla. Truth to be told, Loki was always fascinating character to me, even in his purest mythological form. I kinda like that Marvel's Loki won't be the only adaptation in mainstream media forever and that we'll see different takes on him as well.

Not exactly. Loki and Basim share DNA thanks to Loki taking over Basim's mind. But Basim was person of his own, before Loki did it. The Basim we meet in Mirage will be the true Basim and Loki will probably experience his past before he himself occupied him.

Desmond wasn’t exactly the brightest of minds even when we played as him. When he was transported to the gray I’m pretty sure it took him some time to adjust to the whole new reader role and upon visiting so many timelines he started to completely lose his identity and forget about his own existence. That’s why when Layla mentions his name he’s like “Desmond?”. As he mentioned to Layla he starts from the point at which a crucial event happens; the only thing he knows for sure. He needed another fresh perspective from someone who was recently a normal human. That’s where Layla or Eve comes in as it was foretold by Juno in brotherhood that they will need to awaken the sixth together.

How would he go back to when Desmond died if he doesn’t remember that happening due to all the alternate timelines he’s visiting substituting the memories he already had. When Layla joined him and he told her what he was doing she reminded him of that event and suggested he reads those timelines. Maybe he knew to check there, just never remembered. That’s why Juno predicted he’d need someone to accompany him awakening the sixth.

They could've used Shards of Eden, ring like pieces of eden that use magnetic fields to block projectiles and just have it so its got a limited charge, so you can survive for a while, but you're not invincible

This game would been great if it wasn’t long and didn’t drag out with all the repetitive side missions. I stopped playing for a few months because I got bored but I finally got back into it and finished it. The storyline was good but it felt short because of all those in between side missions. Those missions where you pledge an alliance should have been like 5 of them and the rest leaving room for a story to build on..

I haven’t played all of Valhalla yet, in fact I’ve yet to even get to the second act. But if this is how the game ends in the modern setting, then it would be a key to showing how Infinity would actually work as a live service game. At least story wise.

True, but his villainy in the game is more out of his hate towards Odin as Loki, which I can't blame him since Odin is an asshole. He probably wasn't aware that Eivor didn't know about him being Odin or he's preventing Odin's awakening by killing Eivor. In her perspective, Basim has simply gone mad.
Other than that, he doesn't seems to have any ill will towards humans like Juno and even still follows the creed as Basim. But, it is Loki, after all. With his plan to find his children alongside Alethia using the Assassins, maybe he has an ulterior motive but I can't keep my hopes up because Ubisoft.

Loki does genuinely enjoy working with the Assassins/Hidden Ones, because the group was founded to counter the Order of the Ancients and is composed of former slaves and people who lost everything due to the abuse of power.....like himself. He didn't defect to the Order because they reminded him too much of Odin and not in a good way.
He still gives off "I will stab you in the back" vibes tho. Not through his expressions, but his voice. It just sounds smug and careless towards Shawn and Rebecca. If their goals won't align with his own, he will remove them if necessary. Btw I really hope that since Mirage will be story driven and won't have dialogues, we will get proper motion capture with proper facial expressions and not this playdoll generator.

Killing Desmond was the biggest mistake of the franchise. Sure the games after 3 were still good, Black Flag was amazing, Rogue and to an extent Unity were underrated, Syndicate was great and Origins was also great, but after killing Desmond the series just completely lost its purpose.
It also didn't help that they didn't give us a good follow up character after they killed him, I've played all the AC games besides Odyssey and Valhalla, I couldn't tell you the name of any of the modern day characters beside from Shaun and Rebecca.

Currently, replaying The Ezio Trilogy of Assassins Creed. This was and still is my favorite Assassins Creed game. Never really played the new AC games past Assassins Creed 3.
I always wondered what happened to the Desmond Miles story. Watching this im glad they never gave up on it. It was always very interesting to me.

This is the ending that I got. Not sure if this is the only ending but all I have to say is holy crap… like wow. This game would been great if it wasn’t long and didn’t drag out with all the repetitive side missions. I stopped playing for a few months because I got bored but I finally got back into it and finished it. The ending leaves it open for any future installment. But I have to say the next AC needs to take place in present day! Seriously! It’s long overdue. And having Basim (Loki) as the main character would be interesting to see… I’m not against it. I can see him being an anti-hero perhaps… who knows but it was a cool ending. Not a bad ending or a good ending. It was more of a bittersweet ending. Everyone got what they wanted, all the characters at peace with their choices so yea.

It would be kinda interesting if Otso Berg was actually the reincarnated Odin in the present day, considering that Layla was under the influence of Alethiea when she faced him and killed him in Odyssey. Perhaps Alethiea realized Otso Berg was Odin reincarnated and gave Layla extra incentive to kill him.
Actually in Ac brotherhood there is a part called the Truth where a holographic figure tells Desmond to find Eve in his timeline.
So my theory is that Eve is none other than Layla who probably found a way to escape the simulation / she betrayed the reader and went to the past probably in Desmond's timeline, the holographic figure is the reader and he is playing the part of Adam.
For those who doubt its desmond or not yes, its desmond he resides in grey juno confirmed it as she too is some what similar. And maybe he's the adam and was searching for eve as clay told him.
Also, it’s the same voice actor. They aren’t gonna use the same voice actor for a different character within the same continuity. So it’s a pretty dead give away lol

Not really sure if he'll be a protagonist. I think the point of him being controllable at the end was just so that Eivor's story is totally concluded. I think he'll be a major antagonist in the future given his manipulative nature though I'm not sure yet how that would play out given that Eivor and Sigurd are already dead and his revenge is long past.

My assumption is that Odin and Loki are like the Sages. They get reincarnated in people throughout history. So Odin may actually be alive somewhere despite Eivor being dead.

Man. Loki is so popular probably thanks to Marvel's version that he's now getting spotlight in other adaptations as well, lol. We have Atreus from GoW, now Basim from Valhalla. Truth to be told, Loki was always fascinating character to me, even in his purest mythological form. I kinda like that Marvel's Loki won't be the only adaptation in mainstream media forever and that we'll see different takes on him as well.

The valhalla modern day ending had me over the edge of my seat. It was amazing experiencing it for the first time. I hadn't felt that way since AC3
