    Hello Helen, Yes it's me again. 😁 I am really loving these alternate material videos. Even though they are similar to watercolours it's still beautiful to watch how to use them. I bought the Inktense pallet some time ago and it's sitting in my cart looking at me yelling out "OI, I am down here, use me." I wasn't sure what you could do with them. I was thinking about Pen and Ink drawings. Haven't got there yet. 🤣. It is lovely to see how vibrant they are and how little you need and yet again you did an amazing job showing how versatile this medium is. You can use it bold and/or delicately. You are amazing x

    What I am learning from you is patience. I even do some yoga and breathing exercises before I sit down to paint now. I have a nice hot cup of tea next to me and I take time to stop and sip it before it gets cold. That way my layers dry and I’m not sitting there idle and impatient 🤣 I ordered some of these Inktense pencils and can’t wait to try them. Your instruction is spot on-how to gently apply the pigment to the paper. These are definitely not like colored pencils, which I love. They are a whole new medium. More fun to be had.🥳🎉

    Thank you so much for these techniques! Pushing the color to the line instead of pulling it out makes a huge difference in the edges. Pulling color from the swatches is also very helpful, for single colors and for mixing. I've found mixing is the most challenging thing with my limited number of Inktense pencils (12). I'm falling in love with them now.

    This is so very delicate! You have a lovely soft hand.
    You said they are lightfast but they really aren’t, at least compared with major watercolor or colored pencil brands that use true pigment vs ink. Maybe it depends on what you are comfortable with, and if you intend to sell the original vs prints.

    • @helencampbell
      @helencampbell  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I have tried 100% cotton cold pressed but they don't blend well, I'm going to give mixed media a try. Hot pressed might be an option as there's no texture to grip too much pigment. You mentioned that it may be possible to use Inktense on fabric. It is possible and lots of fun. The only difference is you use a fabric medium or my preference is aloe gel not water. If you use water it will bleed. The aloe gel has alcohol in it so it also aids in faster drying time. Once it is dry you iron over it and it will be permanent forever, no fading. Have a great day

      Hi. I find have the blocks only the pencils but I think you can use them the same way. We have another Inktense video launch in about four weeks or so

    I use a old small plastic cutting board that my family doesnt use any more one side is more smoother, so thats the side i use with my inktense the other side i use with my neocolor 2...you can also squibble some pencil swatches on top of the masking tape i saw another artist do that so you hand wont get into the inktense..i hope these two helpful hints can help a few artist...👩‍🎨✍🎨

    I have the Derwent Graphitint. The core is really soft. How do you sharpen yours?

      @helencampbell  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a very old inexpensive sharpener but need a new one. If you can suggest anything I’d be grateful

      @@helencampbell Just bought the 36 ct. Inktense. Cheapest per pencil. I have a super old Panasonic electric sharpener. I mean several decades old. Sharpens well for the graphitint. It loves to grind down on my Prisma. Will see how hungry it is with the Inktense.

    Do they dry pretty fast? Can a hair dryer be used to speed up the process?

    • @helencampbell
      @helencampbell  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They dry about the same as watercolour but probably a bit faster because I used less water. No dryer needed

    I know you are a brand ambassador for Deep Deep Light but if you are interested in an inexpensive, fun, magical granulating set, I have been having fun with the Kuretake Gansai Tambi Aurora granulating set. It makes ethereal color changes and beautiful flower petals if you’re interested.

      The colour is much more intense
