ThAnk you for showing they are NOT permanent. I have had the pencils since they first came out years ago. I knew they were not permanent thru use and would get so frustrated when people would say they were permanent.
I haven't used my intense a lot, but in my experience every bit of the color needs to be activated on the paper, otherwise the color will move when subsequent layers are added. I agree that testing your paper is always wise. That's particularly important when using an ink that you expect to be waterproof. The sizing or finish of some papers will alter that property. Love how creative you are with stamps! All your doodling adds so much.
Inktense pencils ❤️❤️🥰 Thank you for this detailed discussion. I love them. So much fun. So much fun. Fabulous on cloth too, just set with an iron. The inktense paints have great light-fast rating.
Your demonstration really leans into the Inktense properties. Thanks for sharing the tips, too, re baby wipes & light grating. And very nice CC stamps.
I love my Inktense pencils! I mainly use them on fabric. When heat set they are definitely permanent on fabric. I really wish I had more of them. Thanks for showing me what else I can do with them.
Oh!! How beautifully you used the inktense pencils. I have the set and haven't used them because I haven't had a good experience with them. Seeing your results gives me inspiration to try again. I didn't even know they could be used on their own (feeling silly.) I was taught they were to be used to enhance watercolor. Thanks for the video. Chery C
Amazingly helpful. The strainer is genius (and will work for pastels), but my mind is absolutely blown by the baby wipes. Thanks for this. Great video.
Great informtion and video!!! Love Inktense pencils!! Thank you for validating that they are not always permanent when dry! Thought I was doing something wrong! Good to know it could be the paper. Love your videos!! Thank you!!!
Thank you for this video. I had just seen these for the first time in a quilting video about 3 days ago, where the creator was using them on fabric and discussing their permanence. We are spied on so much! I do not watch art or paint craft type videos at all anymore. It's been 7 years or more since my TH-cam feed sends me anything at all, as I am more interested in sewing/fabrics/ sewing machines these days. So when I saw Inktense on the quilting video, I stopped and went to Amazon to look them up amd check the price. Voila! Now Inktense is in my TH-cam feed. This also just made me realize another reason I love Aldi so much. Just like the old days, I can walk into Aldi and give them my money for food without having to tell them who I am so that they can keep track of everything I buy. Computers were supposed to have simplified life, so much for that. At least occasionally I get rewarded with something I actually enjoy - like this video. Thank you.
I really love these pencils! I use colored pencils a lot and I love the effect of watercolor so now you get the best of both worlds with these vibrant colored pencils.
I loved it! Nice to see your proses and how you think when deciding to do something new. I love the Mermaid and the walrus with the seagulls. Love Terri Simmers.
I love these pencils there my absolute favorites. Haven't quite got the whole set but I'm not far off. I loved watching you use these so many more ideas. Thank you
The Inktense pencils are so vivid. Your seagull and walrus card is adorable- love how you used the baby wipe application. The tri fold mermaids are divine! Your doodling brought them to life. Colorado Craft Co makes unique and one of a kind quality stamps.
Thank you for showing this video! I really learned a lot. I've never done this before but have been looking for something a little more neat than acrylic pouring because I live in an apartment and can't make a big mess. That looks like the perfect idea for me.
I just discovered you, doing a quick scroll on my YTube suggested list. The teals & turquoises, my ultimate fave colors, on your post caught my eye. I’ve loved art since l could hold a pencil upright. Love making my drawings into cards for family. Got caught up in all the fun card making equipment & supplies about a yr ago, so l haven’t made my own creations in a while. I’ve had the Inktense set for a couple of yrs, watched a lot of demos, l had fun making vibrantly colored doodles. I really enjoyed your demo, l’m going to dust the cobwebs off my Inktense & use them on my cards for a change, coloring is my favorite part of making cards. Thanks bunches for sharing your talent! 💖👏🏻👏🏻👍🏼🙏🏻
Thank you so much for taking your time to share a tutorial on inktense pencils, they are beautiful colors. I love all your tips and techniques. The baby wipe trick is really awesome. You are very inspiring. I learn so much from you. You are amazing.
Sandy, I have the Inktense Pencils by Derwent, new to water coloring, been nervous about using them because they were a bit pricy, this tutorial was so helpful. Loving the animals, the v*seals you drew were gorgeous. CCC always knocks it out of the park with there stamps. I love this set because of the Walrus’e’s Animals are my fave to work with. Tysm. Blessings! Taking your class would be the icing on the cake for these amazing pencils.
Learned so much from this video about Inktense that I never knew. Those mermaids are so beautiful! I just know I’m a mermaid as much as I swim and love water.
Hi, new subscriber here🤗 As I look at all your videos…I’m amazed at how many different things you cover and with such proficiency! Thank you so much for sharing your art and knowledge 🤩🇺🇸
Well WOW is just the word! amazingly beautiful :) As an older artist, I have never tried these. Oh my! These will be a go - go to try. My favorite medium is pen & ink work. But these might be a LOT of fun. Maybe even to accent some pen & ink's :). Just finished an oil painting 4' x6', "The Great Red Dragon" (now in for copyright) from Revelation 12. He might have been fun using these pencils. But he is finished now and it is hard to beat oils. thank you for such a wonderful teaching video. Thumbs UP to you darlin!!!
Very useful information about Inktense pencils. It explains why I’ve had some mixed reactions to my own experiments with my new set (including noticing that they indeed lift!). Thank you, Sandy. I always learn so much from you!!
Very fun lesson and intro to the inktense pencils. I would like to know more about how you mounted your finished pieces on the trifold display. Looks great!
These are so beautiful! I’ve learned lots of new ways to create texture watching you in this video! I tried a card at Christmas with a beachy background and it was just flat although I used blending in the sand area. Using the shaving technique will make all the difference when I try it again!
What a great explanation about inktense pencils! I'm missing one idea of how to use them: for extra intense colour, I take the colour of the pencil directly with my brush. It gives really hard lines, so I only use it if I need extra colour in one particular spot. The cards are gorgeous! Love the walrus with his seagull buddies. ❤️
Great demo thank you! BTW can you use any tea strainer? I've never seen that idea used before. Learn something new every day thanks to great instructors such as yourself.
I've seen you use inktense pencils before, but this video went into a lot more depth. I think I might have to to add them to my shopping cart! I really like that they don't dry as light as watercolor. You get a much better idea of the actual color. Love the tri-fold underwater scenes. And the walrus is just adorable with his seagull buddies! TFS
I had to look up the word "Bupkis". Not a southern slang. Cracked me up to hear it though. The Inktense is beautiful. I would have sworn they were watercolors. Now....onto CCC. Thanks for the tip on the Walrus butt. I love this Walrus. Your doodling on the 1st mermaid card is fantastic. What a stunning card with lovely colors. Your doodling is always fun to look at.
Great video on inktense! I didn’t know you could make paler shades of the pencils. What is the strainer you used and where can you buy it? As always, your videos are informative. Thanks
With the blocks, do you need to be careful not to use on wet paper? I was told never to use the pencil on wet paper, as the water soaks into the pigment and "sets" it, making the pencil unusable. Lovely demo. Thanks.
I have to take out my intense pencils again. 😃😍 Can you give me a link for the grater? I would like to buy one? Thank you for your lovely video’s sandy‼️
I do have a question..you used a small red screened object to make powder, could you please tell what was it called again. Sounds like you said a piece trainer… thank you in advance.
Those mermaids turned out so awesome!!👏👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️❤️I am just getting ready to o start on mine after following my fave Kelly Latevola Taylor!!!! So now you've given me even more inspiration 🎉 I would love to win your project 😃 How?????❤❤❤❤???

Hello Sandy 🖐

I love Inktense pencils and found your baby wipes tip helpful! Thanks
I had purchased these ink tense to make my own fabric and I love the vibrancy of them. I a. Dairly
Such a great, thorough demo of Inktense pencils. I've had them for years and never did anything with the control you taught. Thanks.
I haven't used my intense a lot, but in my experience every bit of the color needs to be activated on the paper, otherwise the color will move when subsequent layers are added.

Love how creative you are with stamps! All your doodling adds so much.
I tried lifting after the most oerfectionist blending, same result on Arches.
The tea strainer to make powder 😍😍😍
Love how you grated the pigment for the sand texture! Lots of great info!
Inktense pencils ❤️❤️🥰
Thank you for this detailed discussion. I love them. So much fun. So much fun. Fabulous on cloth too, just set with an iron. The inktense paints have great light-fast rating.
Adorable cards Sandy! I'll have to dig out my Inktense Pencils!
Your demonstration really leans into the Inktense properties. Thanks for sharing the tips, too, re baby wipes & light grating. And very nice CC stamps.
You are so welcome!
Baby wipes ate brilliant, I use them with acrylics, oil, and dry pastels.
I love my Inktense pencils! I mainly use them on fabric. When heat set they are definitely permanent on fabric. I really wish I had more of them. Thanks for showing me what else I can do with them.
Yes definitely permanent on fabric and paper if heat set first.
I wish I had known about these before I invested in other types of pencils. Thank you for posting this. Your techniques demo was fascinating. 🍃

Very fun lesson and intro to the inktense pencils. I would like to know more about how you mounted your finished pieces on the trifold display. Looks great!

Wow!! So beautiful Sandy.
Thank you so much!
I'm trying to choose between those and Albrigt Durer. I don't have any Derwents. The Inktense do seem a bit more vibrant.
Inktense are much brighter; tough to get a realistic look but great for bright subjects. My preference is Albrecht Durer ❤️
This was a fantastic video. Loved it start to finish. 🧜♀️🧜♀️🧜♀️👏🏽👏🏼👏🏾❣️❤️🇺🇸

Great video on inktense! I didn’t know you could make paler shades of the pencils. What is the strainer you used and where can you buy it? As always, your videos are informative. Thanks
It’s in the supply list🥰
I used Inktense on cotton HP paper last night and it refused to lift. The paper matters and the amount of surface sizing.
Yes different papers react very differently.
She lied … she is more than an artist ❤
What she does is magical! Sandy must be a magician too!

Tea strainer-it’s linked in the supplies 🤩
Ohh ok thank you tea strainer…. Thank you 😊
May i ask what was that tool you used to "grate" the block & pencils? Sorry to bother you. Tx u
It’s a tea strainer. It’s in the supply list but most any fine mesh tea strainer should work ❤️ (no bother, ask questions anytime!)
The Inktense pencils can open a whole world of watercolors. I bought them accidentally!😀
What did you use to grate the inktense pencil? TIA
It’s a tea strainer, I have one linked in the supply list, but most any tea strainer should work.
A screen mesh tea strainer not the metal with holes.
