4:18 "Gloves, boots, and sash are highly-metallic gold, almost a 'liquid metal' look." - Dave Cockrum '77 (How to Draw the X-Men: Phoenix!) Statues of Phoenix and Dark Phoenix have the gloves and boots sculpted as separate pieces of clothing.
From what I have heard is that female action figures mostly don't sell. But when I come to the rogue she is the most expensive character and people buy her the most
11:21 "Although Jean is relatively short, she has long legs (proportionately)." - Dave Cockrum '77 (How to Draw the X-Men: Phoenix!) This height works for Jean because she was originally listed at 5'4," just slightly taller than Wolverine. But now that Spidey is looking a little undersized.
I'm so mad right now. I ordered her from BBTS and it seems like DHL has lost the package because there has been no updates on it in a week. This looks fantastic and I hope they do Dark Phoenix too. I'm just disappointed she doesn't come with much of anything in the way of effects. I'm also happy they sculpted the boots and gloves as opposed to just painting them. No idea who suddenly came up with the notion that they are part of the tights as they clearly look like boots an gloves in the comic. I also don't see Jean in the Hasbro figure whereas the Mafex looks exactly like Jean.
I do honestly wished Hasbro would have used those hair sculpts on their Phoenix figure but Jean Grey aka the Dark Phoenix looks cool despite not having a Phoenix 🐦🔥 base which was a missed opportunity, I don't have her but great review.
I'm sorry, I don't see how the ML one is better. The Mafex has the proper colors, the boots and gloves are sculpted, and the faces look like Jean Grey. I open up my Claremont Omnibus and I see the Mafex toy, I do not see the ML one. How does the hair and face on the ML resemble Jean at all? It looks nothing like her. Both messed up the phoenix emblem though as it should be smaller and above the chest.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork Green and gold is still green and gold, sculpted gloves and boots are irrelevant when the source material shows the contrary of the suit looking like all one piece, both are valid. Likeness is also irrelevant since different artists draw the characters differently, the Marvel Legends one goes for a more general look versus the Mafex looking like a specific version, the ML version is still Phoenix at the end of the day. Plus I think the ML one has a better sculpt, I wish it had the same articulation scheme as the Mafex but I still prefer the ML one. And the Phoenix effect is nice to have versus the more expensive figure that doesn't come with any effects at all. Spend your money how you wish but I'm sticking with the Marvel Legends.
@@scottroxford5715 No, the green is a totally different shade. There is a complete difference. If you don;t think so, that's awesome, but I'm an art major and there is a distinct difference. The art did NOT show the gloves and boots as one piece. This is the first time I have ever heard anyone propose such drivel. Even in the bonus features of my omnibus it states something like, "Gloves and boots are gold." Likeness is totally relevant. Hasbro's figure is Phoenix, yes, but she hardly resembles comic Phoenix. The Mafex is straight up comic Phoenix, which goes much close to Hasbro's Nightcrawler, Byrne Cyclops, 97 Wolverine with proper belt, first appearance Storm, and Colossus. I agree, the phoenix effect is nice and that is really all I'm buying the ML one for.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork I'm not color blind and obviously the shades of green are different BUT green is still green and over the years, Jean has been rendered in different greens. Also yes, the art does show the gloves and boots as form fitting, no raised edges, from covers to interiors they draw the suit as all one piece, as they did with a lot of characters, even Alex freaking Ross renders Phoenix with form fitting gloves and boots. While it's not the end of the world if she has painted or sculpted boots, they're both valid.
IN STOCK at BBTS! - bit.ly/3XaLp8K

Do you know if the Marvel Legends small Phoenix Firebird accessory would also fit on the wrist of the MAFEX Phoenix figure?
Didn’t try, but I would say know. Mafex arms are thinner

I think I prefer the Marvel Legends Phoenix, particularly in the body sculpt that has better, well-defined muscle. The MAFEX ones has a softer sculpt.
I open up my Claremont Omnibus and I see the Mafex one, not the ML. That's how I decide which one I prefer.
I agree with you.
She's the center piece of my beginner collection. Admittedly she'll have competition when my Mafex Psylocke arrives :)

Just get the 2 pack from Toys R Us exclusive
I’m so sorry to say it, but it’s not a half price. I ordered my Phoenix from Japan £60 and the ML Phoenix is £50 good video btw 😊
Marvel Legends Phoenix is £35... Amazon and Zavvi...
Legends is taller 😂 and better version the mafex doesn't come with any power effects
I love you.
Hasbro take notes and dont charge us $25 for an accessories
I mean $50 and the Phoenix force, hands, multiple heads is better than $100.
To me My X-Men
The Marvel Legends version is better, 100 bucks for hands, heads and a weaker sculpt is laughable, plus her head sculpts are kind of.... ugly?
