As someone who has severe hearing problems, I cannot recommend hearing protection (also eye) enough. Long stretches with pneumatic tools and consistent loud bangs can damage hearing for anyone. Our ears and peepers weren't made for the tools we have so we have to protect them. Otherwise there's a good chance you'll be asking "what" more than you'll be getting work done in your later years, or earlier. Takes a second, costs next to nothing, and tinnitus ain't no joke. Be safe, keep up the great content.

@@projektevie Oh there is big different wheel bearings are designed for radial loading NOT lateral impacts it will damage the rollers and the race. Which will lead to flat spots in the race and eventually spalling of the rollers and or race..

@@matthewq4b taper roller bearings are designed for axial and radial loading arn't they? You'd imagine a loaded truck going around corners on rough roads would have some pretty decent thrust and jarring forces, in any case he didn't put new bearings in so I doubt he would be too worried.

I was hoping would tell it's fun to watch them. Most of the time you only need to use that bat one time if that to put them on. I used GO-JO hand cleaner on the beads to make them slick

I use those Hercules mud tires... they're:
1. Awsome for grip in snow and mud.
2. Last longer than grooved radials
3. Cheaper.
I've used the Hercules brand for years now and I personally have no complaints!
Since you do your own work your good..BUT! Anytime you have to go to a shop, take pics of your tires and mark them...here in MD shops love to steal and swap your brand new tires for some shitty tires from someone's truck...no lie, really happened to me..2 times

I am a truck mechanic, I learned the hard way on tires to but there's some tires you do have to bring off the front side but it's only smaller ones. If you go to change them again go get you a gold bar. They are worth the money to save your back. The truck is looking better with every video so thank you for giving me something to watch in my free time.
Back in the day we used a corncob at the end of a coat hanger to light er up lol... till one time one blew up n killed a friend. .. your better off to get the cage for safety reasons.

Jeremy Gregory thanks for explaining. I figured it had something to do with expansion or shrinkage to get the tire to somehow adapt with the rim. It makes a lot more sense now. I know these guys are amateurs, but it has been fun watching them salvage and restore this old truck while learning along the way.

I mount truck tires for a living spraying tires like that the tire will blow out and will not last long, u need a cheeta tank.

I have been in a pickle and used wd40 and sometimes pb blaster aslong as its lube it will work
As a older driver I'm really enjoying you fixing up this old tractor. I started out in cabovers back in the day. It's good to see this old girl getting used instead of rusting away.
I had those tires on my dump truck. I got stuck in soft dirt. My experience with those tires when stuck don't spin to much or chunks of the treads will break off.
I ran them on a water truck and they picked up and threw rocks everywhere. They get all chunked up fairly quick too.

@@davidcatlette9697 na, there not recaps, just a deep groove open shoulder drive. They are pretty aggressive. At my shop, we mount Goodyear Workhorse MSD to firetrucks all the time which is even more aggressive . But there so expensive nobody else buys them.. Oliver makes an R4 tread recap that we mount to some of the farm trucks
maybe he wants to drive it after off-road like FIA -rally cars or the
russians when no roads are avail. this tread threw up rocks and the
traffic behind gets broken windshields, or stonechips on the body.
Here’s a tip for you Bruce. Keep the best tyre/s off the truck and mount them on your spare rims.
Build like a headache rack for behind the cab for tools etc and mount the spare too it. Or on whatever trailer you’re using. Save you the call out for a tyre shop.

How does it make sense to polish all those Wheels leaning over on the floor
The best way to polish anything is to have a straight on look at the face with a solid light source. There's a reason why you wet sand buff and polish paint at eye level. Its to keep the finish even and consistent. Ice man is a smarter not harder kind of guy those wheels weigh a good bit and having to manhandle them on and off a table and move them to get the light right would be physically exhausting and take more time to get right.

I’ve enjoyed watching you fix this truck up. I passed one just like it today in I40 near Nashville still hauling freight. As a 22 year veteran with Bridgestone Commercial Div. (TBR ... Truck Tires), I especially enjoyed watching you mount that tire, lol. You guys broke every TIA rule in the book. All good though as I admire your get it done spirit. I really wanted to send you some nice Firestone’s to go on that rig but couldn’t pull it off right now. If I worked the FL market I would have liked to hooked you up with them.

Service fitter Goodyear 10 years Australian road trains and earth moving equipment You guy's are right he fitted the tyres backward's he should have used a carpet or belt mat he used the wrong end of the tyre lever to fit them made it look much harder than it should be, he didn't use any sort of safety equipment to inflate them on second hand rim's he knew nothing about plenty of dead tyre fitter's to answer why, and you never ever ever use fire to inflate a tyre 10 year's I never had the need once use rubber grease and the correct tool's no problem's. this guy is a complete hack.

A few important things should be noted here :
A ) The tires are mounted.
2 ) No one got hurt.
D ) No one is dead.

To remove the studs trying using an air chisel.
It’s easier to mount a tire on the rim with the dome part of the rim facing the ground. Make sure you put a piece of cardboard or rubber on the ground first so it does not scratch the rim. Also, a sledgehammer will help install the tire with the tire iron.
By God those rims and tires look fn awesome hats off to the Iceman!!

if your talking about the tire mounting they are totally backwards much easier if it is flipped over and the correct end of the bar i hate to see people struggle when they don't have to especially mounting heavy ass tire been there done that
Not when u drive with 80 thousand pounds bouncing on those tires doing 70 mph in 115 degree heat in Arizona. Or -30 weather in Canada.
Your tires better be installed right or a sht sandwich is in your future. A big one.
Those tires weight a lot. When they explode under load, it can cause thousands in damage to your truck and the cars around you as your trying to come to a stop.
The road calls range from 200-400 just to come out. Plus a tire. Plus labor to put it on and labor to fix anything it damaged to get you off the road side.
I have seen tire blow outs that lead to 19k in damage. A front tire blew on a friends truck. By the time he stopped it, the belt took is right side off the truck. A 4 foot tire belt with still attached and snapping everything in its reach.
Installation and quality of tires is very important.

One suggestion when you mount the rear tires make sure you put a matt down and flip the rim so the valve is down much easier also use the hook end of the bar when pulling the beads over just a suggestion from a tire guy with a little over 10 years experience love the videos Bruce keep em coming

I'm a tire tech at Love's Travel Stop and I just gotta say you're doing it wrong. It's a lot easier with the belly of the rim facing down. If you can get your hands on a cheetah blaster it'll make airing the tires a whole lot faster and easier
i work at a Walmart Auto Care Center, and we have a Cheetah for the really difficult to seat beads.

Barrel stacking is what makes tires of any size a pain in the balls to mount.

Maybe if he's pounding out video's every day that are averaging 20 mins a video. The editing time is fairly long and he's probably got other stuff to do as well. I 'm not filming my life and job for 3 reason It's called 1 customer privacy in some places, 2 my customers will get pissed off while I get the perfect camera angle, instead of fixing their machine quickly. Then 3 when I get home I'm going to do what I want like watch Bruce and some others. Not mess with this BS from guys whining about the quality of a video they would of been lucky to get for free. Please Just give the guy some video quality slack sometimes, and enjoy what he gives us !
