    I have a kubota B2650 with a front end loader and backhoe. it is amazing all the different jobs you can find to use the backhoe. I only have 5 acres, but am always doing something with it. I enjoyed your video, you've got a nice set of tractors.

    Hey Roy, I used to see you a bunch on MTF and remember when you originally made these videos. Any updates on your current equipment and property? You were always fun to follow. Hope you're well! ( -- Hans-X585 on MTF)

    Came for the tractors and stayed for the music,,good tunes I usually hate music in a video because I like to hear the engine, but this is my kind of music nice job,, sweet equipment

    Nice set-up there. You're right, a backhoe beats a shovel every time.

    Just stumbled on your channel. I just started a small tilling/ lawn service company. Bought my first ever JD tractor. Nothing fancy just a little la135. After using mtds and craftsman and growing up on IH on the farm I can already tell, JD and I are about to have a love affair haha. Love your videos and a wee bit jealous of your equipment. I will get there someday I have no doubt. Really dig your music choices too. Keep up the great work and keep it green !

    Nice video! I got all excited when I saw the box blade come out. I have some projects I need to use one for but not much experience using one

      @royrector  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I was disappointed when I started compiling the video and realized the camera battery died right when I started using the box blade. That is what really formed up and finalized the project. I have a couple more projects in mind that will require the box blade, so I try to make sure the video works when I get to them. ;-)

    i know this is going to sound crazy, but if you spray pam or some kind of non-stick spray in your bucket it will help with the mud not sticking to your bucket, a old time showed me that and it worked great, you will have to spray it in it ever now and then, but it does work, good luck and great video's

      Glad you enjoy them. Back in the 80s, I was a real farmer: 900 acres in the TX Panhandle. I owned a couple of real tractors: 4630, 4230 and an 8820 Combine. My brother still farms. He has some really big JD tractors. I can’t believe how much they have change, and how much they now cost.

      +Eli Fulton They ain't cheap because they are well built. Properly maintained they are a life long investment, so over time they are real cheap. Case and point - you are still using your grandpa's M. ;-)

    Know what you mean on the BH. I didn't get one when I bought my 1026. I could sure use it. I just make do with the FEL. I did get a tooth bar for the bucket which makes digging a little easier. Never thought I'd need the BH but... you're right, I could use one.

    My initial thought (which very brief and I am ashamed since I sound like the old lady) was "why not just use your loader to move the mulch / dirt instead of the backhoe into the garden cart on your X748? Isnt that faster?"
    The simple answer... because you can!

    • @royrector
      @royrector  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Nick F Your simple answer is correct, but there are 3 more reasons.
      1. Operating a backhoe is fairly new to me. If you haven't ever run one there is a pretty steep learning curve that takes practice. It requires some repetitive muscle memory exercises to master. I started the weekend projects with the silly little much/dirt in the cart action, before I begin dipping out the creek and cleaning out the culvert. The mulch thing gave me some morning practice before the real digging started.
      2. It makes for good John Deere eye candy TH-cam video.
      3. It is all “seat time,” a man having more fun than he should be allowed to have! ;-)

    not shure what your laws are in Texas , always call the locating company before you dig i know for a fact that i have an 8" plastic high pressure gas main in my front easement . What a bad day it would be if i put a tooth in to that with out locates and costly too

    Did you buy that tandem axle dump trailer or build it from the 17P?

    • @royrector
      @royrector  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +neb I built it from the 17P. I took pictures as the re-fab process progressed from beginning to end, and have plans to someday compile them into a video that demonstrates how I built it. Basically, I took a stick welder and a cut-off saw to some square tubing I had laying around to build the frame work.

    • @royrector

      Homemade. It is the standard John Deere 17P single axle cart that I took a welder too and converted it to a tandem axle hydraulic dump cart.

    are you ever going to put the loader on the x748 agan or has the 1025 taken over all loader operations

    • @royrector
      @royrector  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, I’ll put the FEL on the X748 if I ever need 2 FELs running at the same time, or have a tight spot in which the X748 will maneuver around in easier. But for now, the default configuration for the 1025 is to leave the FEL and backhoe attached, so all I have to do is pull out of the garage and start digging.
      And besides, the X748 pulling the dump cart to haul away the material the 1025 digs up is just too handy of a team not to leave configured as such. It’s like having a mini-excavation crew, ready to go at a moment's notice. ;-)

    I have to ask you Roy why would anyone consider a John Deere x748 when a 1023e is cheaper? Am I missing something I should know about or just buy the 1023e.

    • @royrector
      @royrector  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well you see, it goes like this - - I bought the x748 in July 2010. At the time there was no such thing as a 1023e. The SCUT at that time was a 2305 and it did not have fold down ROP (Roll Over Protection). And, the only place in 2010 I has to store a tractor was in a little shop that, if I had bought a 2305 I could not have gotten it inside due to the ROP, and if I could have the doors would not have shut due to the 2305's longer wheel base. So I bought the X748. Six years later (2016) I bought the 1025R and now I have both and a garage to store them in. As Yoda might say: "John Deere heaven my garage is."
