    I invested in a 2008 John Deere 2305 w/48” snow blower, 200 loader all quick attach with a Curtis cab on and heater inside. First thing I do before getting in the cab is hang my coat and cap on a nail in the garage and blow snow. Best purchase I’ve ever made.

      My toque,coat and mitts are in the tractor with me. If something goes wrong, would be a long walk in the cold. Half mile drive to clear.

    Hey nice job I own a 2016 John Deere x730 with a 54inch mower deck and 47inch Quik hitch snowblower and I love John Deere these tractors are power houses and they do a great job snowblowing and mowing I haven't had a chance to snowblow a foot of snow with it yet because I got my x730 in august 2016 and I got to mow with it a lot but I snowblowed like 3 inches and 2 inches and 1 inch of snow but I really want 2 feet of snow to really put her to the test

      I have a 2017 x730 as well with the 54" snowblower. I did good snowblowing on asphalt upwards of a foot of snow, and did somewhat okay snowblowing gravel and grass where I park my trailer, but it had a habit of getting itself stuck if I went forward more than 4 feet and didn't leave room on the sides for the rear to slide into. I'm picking up a 2018 1025R (wanted a 2025R with radial turfs but just would look goofy mowing a 1 acre lot) to replace it as it became too frustrating to use. I hope you had better success, it really is a great mower though.

    What an awesome machine but it made me cold watching lol. Why no Curtis cab and some heat with that much snow removal?

    I have a Massey GC1715 with a 56 inch blower. It throws the snow about 40 feet.

    Can the shoes be adjusted so that the cutting edge makes contact with the ground? Just curious if I could get my driveway cleaned right down to the asphalt like my 54" plow does.

    • @mdocod
      @mdocod  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      adam adams we have the shoes adjusted very high out here to avoid gravel, rocks, pinecones, sticks, roots, etc. I think it can be adjusted to get a pretty clean scrape but we hadn't tried.

    It does not seem to throw snow as far as I thought it would by the looks of it.

    • @mdocod
      @mdocod  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 2100RPM PTO speed is reduced in the blower attachment in a 19/40T chain reduction to about 1000RPM at the impeller, or about 4000ft/m impeller tip speed, which is a bit lower than many walk-behind throwers that have tip speeds in the 4200-4800ft/m range. The 11HP Ariens we used to own was at the upper end of that range and would throw up-to 30-60' depending on the type of snow and feed rate. So yea, if you're looking at this footage thinking it doesn't throw very far, that's true, however, the walk-behind units that can throw snow further also sacrifice the total snow processing capacity per HP in order to achieve that higher throw distance, and are much less consistent in throwing distance as the snow feed rate changes. While the maximum distance this unit can throw is less, it's noticeably more consistent/predictable. It's not dropping from 60' to 10' when shoved into a snow bank and bogged to oblivion. If you set a particular angle that's throwing 30' with this unit, it will pretty much keep throwing 30' regardless of whether it's skimming a little snow off the edge of a run or being jammed into a drift and used like a show plow. Different enginerding approaches.

    Have you had any issues with the gears getting chewed up? What kind of lubrication and basic maintenance do you perform? My neighbors gears got chewed up last winter... and they said it was because they weren't lubricated...that it was very important to lube every year. Which is odd, because he always has the dealer set up his snowblower every year - seems like they would have checked that. I ask because of my neighbors experience and also because I just ordered a new JD 1025R with the 47 snow blower, front end loader and 60 mower deck.... get it in a few weeks. Hoping the snowblower doesn't prove to be a money pit. Thanks for your insights.

      sounds like your neighbor is using something extremely hard for there shier pins. I went from the standard shier pins to a even softer standard bolt. They cost less and are easier to pop in, and I want them to break before I destroy my gear box. It take a second to back up, an fit a new bolt in. Compared to the alternative.

      It will be a money pit if you are putting any amount of hours on the blower. Plastic impeller like come on john deere for what they charge it should be way better

    • @EddieSchirmer
      @EddieSchirmer 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@1teddy1979 lol plastic? naw its all metal far as i know... i have the same setup as in this video... the issue with the distance is due to the weight of the snow... when its dry powder i can toss snow 25-30 feet, though id own need it to go that far so im ok with less distance. in the really heavy stuff... be lucky to get it to throw 5-10 feet, even full throttle, but thats better than nothing. i often pick up my driveway with my machine and it handles it like a champ to be honest. despite breaking shear pins when the shute clogs from the heavy stuff, but then, i run it a bit harder than one probably should. only thing ive technically spent on my machine is fuel and shear pins hahaha. (it was a gift years ago, so i consider myself super lucky)

    Great set up however my complaint is the blower does not throw very far. I have two 47" JD snowblowers so I know all about them. I tend to go over large areas twice because blower distance is so short. Check out the blowers on the Bx, MF, New Holland, excellent throwing distances. Thks.

    • @TheHighKirk

      Graphite paint. You'd have to let it dry completely (aerosol can paint) and it may only last a few hours but you never know. - I'm going to try it this Winter on my little 40+ year old Jacobson 26" snowblower. I'll just spray everything the snow touches from enter to exit and see what happens. It can't hurt so it's just a matter of how long it can help and sometimes only a few hours is enough.

      @@mdocod nice! My friends B7500 overheats when ice builds up like that. He has to keep track of water temp.
      Your could pull in air from near your feet. The BX series does that. The B series pulls air from the front.

  • @hardheadedgerman
    @hardheadedgerman 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You need to put the snow blower in float position. That eliminated too much downpressure and lifting of the front end.

    • @mdocod
      @mdocod  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      hardheadedgerman the operator was just moving to the float position too slowly. as you no doubt know, the float position requires pressing through the lift-the-front-end position.
