This fez has the best shape (dimensions) of all the fez tutorials out there for the 11th doctor costume.. Thank you for putting a lot of thought into getting it right. The instructions are very clear, too.
I used your fabulous tutorial videos to make a Fez for a Doctor costume, which I recently wore to a Renaissance Faire. Many people asked me where I bought the Fez and I was able to recommend your video to them! Thank you SO much for posting this, it is definitely the best & easiest Fez How-To I've ever found! I used crushed velvet for my version and I would suggest, to anyone doing the same, using two or three layers of fusible interfacing to create a stiffer hat. Thanks again!
The first sewing tutorial that ever made me laugh out loud. :D I love your approach to sewing, it's like mine, super casual and laid back. No need to fear the machine.
Great tutorial! Another tip: if you clip the seam allowance all around the circumference of the fez on the inside at the top of the hat (the leftover fabric at the seam where 2 parts are sewn together), the top or "crown" fabric will relax & lie flatter, giving a cleaner look. Clip straight in from the outside of the seam allowance to just outside the seam itself (but don't cut into the seam). When you're done, you'll see little flaps all around the "circle". This is no problem as they'll be inside & no one will see them. But your hat will have fewer "bubbles" around the crown & look more finished & professional.
Probably going to use this method for my 11th doctor costume. Was going to order one online but it's nearly impossible to make sure it's the right size and color. Thanks a bunch!
Can you list all the materials you need? I'm dressing as the 11th for Halloween ( from Big Bang ) and I want to make one since I can't find one anywhere.
Thank you so much for this video! My fez turned out really well! I am dressing up as the Doctor for Comic-con day at my school. I hope it's a hit, and people actually know who I am! Thanks again! :)
I like to sew, I am not very good at it but i do enjoy it. this was a great video really enjoyed it and learned a lot . I made a dalek helmet out of a mixing bowl and a bucket that came out pretty good if you feel like checking it out.
Hay, can you tell me the exacts sizes of the pieces of fabric please ? I'm french, and my english is not really awesome ^^' Thanks a lot ! Love your tutorial.
well in english it's known as fez but in our region it's known as tarboosh and the city is called Fas so I don't know how are they even related. secondly the ottoman never conquered morocco, their borders extended till algeria
Josef Soliman Get your info straight. the city is called FEZ or FES or FAS you can google that, and in Turkey they still call Morocco Fez as it was the Moroccan capital at that time (The time of the Ottoman empire). The Ottoman took it from Morocco because at that time there were a lot of cultural exchange between Andalusia and the Ottoman empire through Morocco. That's why it's called Fez :). By the way ''Tarboush'' is an Arabe name :) it's called Tarboush in Morocco too
+morrisonien get my facts straight omg 😂, the city in arabic is called Fas as most of the arabic speakers call it. and turks don't call it moroccan fez that's pretty hilarious since I always traveled to turkey for like 7 times and I have origins from there.the Fez or Tarboosh originated from the balkans if we're going to talk about where it came from
Josef Soliman Lol just go google the thing. The hat is called Fez in reference to the Moroccan city :). here's a Resume Fez (Arabic: فاس Fas, Berber: ⴼⴰⵙ Fas) is the second largest city of Morocco, with a population of 1.1 million (2014). Fez was the capital city of modern Morocco until 1925 and is now the capital of the Fès-Meknès administrative region. The city has two old medina quarters, the larger of which is Fes el Bali. It is listed as a World Heritage Site and is believed to be one of the world's largest urban pedestrian zones (car-free areas).[3] University of Al Quaraouiyine, founded in 859, is the oldest continuously functioning university in the world. The city has been called the "Mecca of the West" and the "Athens of Africa". Satisfied ? or you need more references ....
Josef Soliman I didn't say they call the hat "the Moroccan fez" -_-. I said in Turkey they call the Country of Morocco ''Fez". As it was the Moroccan capital at the Ottoman empire's time and it was a very known city as they would culturally exchange with it
great , funny and helpful . but i have a fez but its much more rigid . i think its cardboard with felt stuck on and and some sort of thick gauze inside
That is a not a real fez. Real fezes require hard work. Wood-working, fire, water and needle and thread. You can watch videos of last tarboosh (fez) makers in Qahira (you call it Cairo).
my parents are making me go shopping in the city (my "best past time") on a Doctor Who night, so I am wearing a fez and wearing it with pride. (and yes I am a girl ^.^)

Fez is pure Moroccan, actually "Fez" is a city in Morocco, then the Ottoman took it and spread it to Egypt, Tunisia ...
well in english it's known as fez but in our region it's known as tarboosh and the city is called Fas so I don't know how are they even related. secondly the ottoman never conquered morocco, their borders extended till algeria
