It is weird, because even though all four songs are for the children (though people in general), they seem more like songs for children in particular age groups: Violet (less than a year to three years of age), Veruca (four to six years of age), Augustus (seven to nine years of age), and Mike (ten to twelve years of age). - infants are naturally chubby, waddle, often stim (stimming such as hand flapping); infancy is the most awkward of all ages, the most humiliating, mocking, demeaning, and shaming; toddlers slightly mature (but still qualify as "babies" physically and psychologically) - children are still often spoiled up to this point and still do not know how to properly act, though they are slowly trained to do so (that is if the parents do not indulge so easily) - children around this stage of life usually develop poor eating habits and become unhealthily obese - around this point of their childhoods, before teen years, they become addicted to TV and stick to the couch like glue, one could only help they grow out that stage Thought I would explain.
First song: Feels like a strict aunt lecture Second song: Menacing aura, made me picture tall gray birds with claws on their wings which cannot fly carrying naughty children away on a night with a new moon Third song: Spoiled brats are annoying, it's the parents' fault for not disciplining them occasionally.
I agree on some accounts, though there are four songs not three. The first one does sound like a simple lecture, though they all are, but it does not sound "serious", it sounds like a not too complex lecture your uncle, aunt, or even grandparents would sing to you. Ironically, the lyrics sound much more serious than the vocals and melody of the song itself. The lyrics in the third one sound a bit more serious (but just a tiny bit), but only lyrically, and not even performed in a way that will persuade you into changing your ways. It just sounds like a spoiled brat lecture (as the song already is), your parents (of all people, and who are probably even responsible for your behavior) would sing to you. Maybe it would be your grandparents who will sing this to you, even though grandparents often spoil their grandchildren. The fourth one sounds more somber. It gives you vibes that as you watch television, your mind is turning into mush, thus you are nothing, or becoming nothing, but a mere idiot. It echoes your intelligence strongly fading, if you were even that smart to begin with, it does not make you feel like a lazy person, just as a know it all kid who thinks they know everything when they clearly do not, even if they are wise, all because they witness the world from television and film. Now, even though it is the second song not the final one. The second one seems the most complex and the most intriguing. It does not give me the impression of birds, but in ways Violet can be comparative to a fallen victim bird in her scene. In this film, she does a mere waddle (as if she was a penguin or duck), and she flaps her hands swiftly but stupidly when they start rolling her around. Ironically, though the lyrics in the first song shame obesity, the specific manner the Oompa Loompas sing to Violet make her feel much fatter in great contrast, not just by expanding to the point of near explosion, but by degrading her prideful character, as if she was an elephant, physically and psychologically. Ironically though, the song itself musically and vocally reminds me much more of an even earlier child instead of an avian - the waddling, the frantic hand flapping, the extreme disdain and shame (the repulsive, revolting, and wrong aspects of such disapproval), the overly large, rotund, and swollen caricatured character --- overly an infant not a toddler.
@@MidnightPawstepsI apologize for the long reply. I just wanted to share what they make me visualize too. It is strange because though, all four songs are sung to children, they make me picture songs for different ages: Violet (0-3), Veruca (4-6), Augustus (7-9), and Mike (10-12).

I have more sympathy to Violet his version than the one with Johnny Depp. If anything, I think Violet (Gene Wilder version) is more "fetish" because Violet is more innocent here with flaws too like Charlie and looks like she's getting tortured verses the other version is a bully is getting what she deserves. Oddly, all the children get along with Charlie in the Gene Wilder version movie, even though no one seems to talk to him.
I agree. That was the intention. Though what I appreciated about these Oompa Loompa songs unlike the book and 2005 film is the lyrics are easier to remember, simple, memorable, and are more life lessons than songs pertaining to a certain fate for a certain kid.
