When you punt you give up, when dan rushes down to opponent 40 yard line, he believes he has enough rhythm to keep going as punting just isn't an option anymore. I love it when we die by aggressiveness. Even though it cost us games, it can also win you games. Man I love this season, except for Aiden Hutchison being out.
If my Patriots get the first pick (or even a top-5 pick, as seems likely) in 2025, all I want for draft night is a blindside protector at offensive tackle. I'm thinking specifically of 1997, when the Rams took Orlando Pace first overall and won the Super Bowl with a grocery store shelf-stocker at QB three seasons later. NFL history has taught us that you can do pretty well drafting an edge rusher first overall, although this has been less common in modern football. Bruce Smith, Lee Roy Selmon, Ed "Too Tall" Jones, Bubba Smith, and John Matuszak all went first overall but Bruce was the most recent of those, drafted in 1985. Drafting a QB when your team's offense is fundamentally terrible is how Mac Jones lost his mojo and how the Pats are going to ruin Drake Maye.
The Chiefs had a team in place when they took Mahomes and were in no rush to start him. They had a veteran QB that he could sit behind and Andy Reid had job security, which many coaches don't have.
lol the chief before Mahomed was a playoff team not a super bowl contender, the math is Great HC+ good QB= playoff team maybe 1 or 2 super bowl, great qb + a good hc = playoff team and 1 super bowl , but a great QB + a great HC = super bowl contender with 2+ super bowl
The fact that so many great quarterbacks come after those picks is interesting. Honestly, as spectacular as a quarterback saving a team can be (I'm seriously starting to become a Commie fan again because of it, and I haven't been a fan since their QB was Mark Rypien), it would probably be better to build a team first (even if you get a #1 pick), then train your quarterback, be underestimated and hidden at first, then catch them off guard. Seriously though, get your quarterback a line to protect him, otherwise watch all but the very best be turned into Turf 🍕 3-7 times a game.
I would rather, if I were GM of a bad team, build from the trenches outward. I'm thinking the roster philosophy of the 2000 Ravens or 2013 Seahawks. A third-round QB on his rookie deal with the rest of the cap invested in the line and the defense seems like it's got as high of a ceiling but also a higher floor.
the simplest reason is teams HAVE TO - they really have no choice. You gotta have a good QB to win in this version of the NFL. That Trent Dilfer Ravens Super Bowl win will probably never happen again - the rules are stacked against it. The League wants good QBs. Teams want good QBs. The rules are designed to help good QBs succeed. It just the way it is, so teams will always gamble on it.
The biggest gamble was Pittsburgh taking Big Ben. 11th overall pick, from a scrappy MAC team. Ben wasn't drafted as a replacement; he didn't compete for the starting job and wasn't a starter. Came in for an injured Maddox and the rest is history. THAT'S a gamble.
It's almost criminal what the Texans and Browns did to David Carr and Tim Couch. Neither guy stood a chance of surviving their first contract unscathed, let alone developing into a solid QB.
Tim "Take a Knee" Tebow: he had talent, he had an arm that threw great (in mile-high Denver at least), and he wound up being passed from team to team in an odd game of backup QB keep-away instead of being allowed to develop into a starter. Kind of sad. Then again, he's a nice guy, does awesome charity work and he got to try baseball professionally (and he was better at it than Michael Jordan).
Until your shoddy line gets that QB wrecked and ruins his confidence and development. It's like building the Great Pyramid of Giza by saying "Hey Thutnefer, can you hold up this pointy rock while we go get all the other rocks to put under it?"
Yeah, as a sixers fan I can tell you that won't work. It got so bad that the NBA commissioner had to step in and say enough because of how many years the sixers were tanking.
lol drafting a qb in the first round can get a team 3 different outcome . if a team get a bad qb it just set them back 3 years, if they draft a mediocre qb it set the team up for the next 5 years, if they draft a franchise qb it will set them up for the next 10+ years.
As a Seahawk fan, I can tell you this: Mr. Schneider has only drafted 2 QB's in 14 years and didn't trade up for either one. I don't see him trading up, but I do see him drafting a QB this year. We are in a rebuild, people tend to forget that. Geno is good, don't get me wrong, but he hasn't been been beating division rivals and that matters.
@@RipliWitani No, right now Schneider is busy looking through other teams draft busts to see if he can find a young version of Geno. That's why when Locke was off his rookie contract we got Sam Howell. At least that is my theory.
A team can risk a bust. Or a couple. What they can't do is be the Browns or Bears and constantly throw a prospective franchise changing QB that was drafted in the top 5 to the wolves because "must win now". Remember Mahomes' rookie season? He sat and learned. Lamar sat for most of his rookie season in Baltimore. Jalen Hurts same thing. Jordan Love might not have been great as a rookie but find me a Packer fan that cares.
Dan Campbell gambles on 4th down
And he can't stop winning.
Bills are 9/9 on 4th down too. Lake Eerie bros never quit
@@EstebanDVOWashington is 11/11
So does the falcons this year to

Mac Jones lost his step because yall hired Patricia and let McDaniels go
Judge/Patricia as OF coordinators was a terrible idea. McDaniels was on his way out because the Raiders didn't learn from the Broncos and Colts.
When 5 said "All the calls, ALL the calls" I couldn't help but throw a flag😂😂
"…sacked into Bolivia…"
🤣🤣🤣

Absolutely and people don't realize how big of a deal that is..

You been hiding with the Bandwagon in Tony Kornheiser's garage?

For the past couple seasons the Commies have been only lacking a QB on offense. Imo at least.

Real ones know.😂

As a Tampa fan that brad Johnson mentions gave me hope for our 3rd ring
Bro hit me with the Tyson Bolivian
As a Chiefs fan, the "all the calls" was funny. Im pretty sure at least one of the flags in the recent Texans game was called in our favor. Lol.
Some teams never suck enough to get a chance to gamble on a top 3 pick QB.
Joe Burrow is one of only QB that were the #1 pick that were actually successful, he went to the Super Bowl for God's sake
True
It's almost criminal what the Texans and Browns did to David Carr and Tim Couch. Neither guy stood a chance of surviving their first contract unscathed, let alone developing into a solid QB.
seeing jamarcus russel still hurts even after 17 years

Funny you mention the Texans in 2023. That was a direct case of "Take the QB prospect or take the support." Their solution? Trade up and get both.
I’d like to see how many top QBs taken were actually the BEST in their draft class
In today's game, you need a QB
Also as soon as you land your franchise QB you're freed from the gamble and can focus on the rest
Until your shoddy line gets that QB wrecked and ruins his confidence and development. It's like building the Great Pyramid of Giza by saying "Hey Thutnefer, can you hold up this pointy rock while we go get all the other rocks to put under it?"
Why use your right hand to swipe through dating apps when you can in stead use it for... you know ;)
BETTING ON FOOTBALL!!
😅Trubisky slander will not be tolerated. He led the bears to the playoffs twice.
At this rate, the NFL needs to implement the draft lottery but only after the season is over. Not during.
Yeah, as a sixers fan I can tell you that won't work. It got so bad that the NBA commissioner had to step in and say enough because of how many years the sixers were tanking.
Us Packers fans know we don't have to suck to get a good quarterback
5th comment you should do a sweepstakes 😅
Lol
As a Giants fan i hope they have the worst record and hopefully have number #1 draft pick and select shedeur sanders as their future QB!!!!

It’s either your lighting or you need to clean your lenses bro
Dude caleb williams sucks. He can't throw TDs vs teams who try
jared goof will never return to la
send daniel jones to canada
Bro you gotta goo all on the nyg like perna with denver
David Carr sucked
Bro, you should consider moving to writing articles or hiring a presenter. Your writing is good, but your delivery is unnatural.
