Can't understand how this beautiful song is not covered by many artists who are rediscovering our treasures from the past. But, of course, who could do it like Michael Crawford?! I am transported every time I hear it. ❤
I came upon this beautiful song just less than a year after my husband of 27 years had passed away. I would listen to it as if he were singing it to the man that I would love after his passing. I have not yet found that man, I have now been a widow for 20 years. I still love the song, and listen to it often. It is a very sweet and special song to me. Thank you for sharing it on youtube and the photos are very nice.
This song came into mind today upon hearing that one of my ex-girlfriends got engaged. Happy for her as I was but jealous too, I told her fiancé exactly to “take good care of her for me; she used to be mine”. 😭
It was written about Michael's ex-wife, Gabrielle Lewis, from whom he had a pretty acrimonious divorce in 1975, although they later became better friends.
A song that I gave as a gift for my beloved lady, when I finally said farewell to her, for she belongs to another now. I chose this song because the lyrics and meaning of the words coincided of what I felt when I saw them together from a distance. On that moment, I know that I have no chance of seeing her with me. With this, I said my farewell to her.
this is nice....but I wished they had included Barbara Carrera here from Condorman. After all they both shared more tender scenes in that film than some of the other ladies here. Just sayin'.....

This is the story of my Life. Plus this song is next to impossible to find. Thanks!
One of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Every time I hear it, it brings me so many memories of a love long gone. Yes, I cry a lot.
One of the most beautiful songs and unparalleled with Michael Crawford!
No one can do phrasing like this talented man.

3:50 "A chance that I somehow let slip away." He makes that line hurt, because you can feel his pain.
As usual, well done Michael Crawford. Well done.
