I had the security light flashing with intermittent no start conditions on my 99 suburban. Eventually it just wouldn't even start no crank. It was 600 dollars to have the ignition switch replaced. Haven't had the security light on when driving since having it fixed
Same problem. Dont lock your door from the inside EVER. Use the key to manually lock your door when you get out everytime. I found it cut the number of times this happened way down.

It worked on my daughter's car and never reoccurred. She totaled it 5 years ago when she was t-boned in intersection. That bug heavy car did it's job and she and her passenger walked away. She now has a cruise which is full of air bags and an even higher 5 star rating. People forget that all the time. The people is the car that hit her didn't care as well as it was a tin can Honda that hit her. The entire front end was in pieces.

Common issue with the Passkey systems. I've had to reset tons of them. Usually only a freak thing if it loses the transponder info. More often then not I've found that the brand of key matters. The dealer wants 200 plus a key but your friend can get one on amazon cut by vin and ready to learn for 50 bucks. Well that 50 dollar pre cut key is most likely gonna fail as the transponder chips are actually a Chinese knock off of the actual pass key transponders. Long story short, don't cheap out on keys and never ever have ACE, Walmart, or Amazon make or cut you keys. Call a locksmith and do it right as some of the cheapies that have an OBD2 programmer can ruin your PCM.

I have swapped a Cummins into my truck so the anti theft doesn't affect the operation of the engine (custom wiring) but I was wondering if the anti theft would affect the operation of the engine?

The thing is the throught at how many repair shops are doing the exact same thing and charging hundreds for ingition switches, new transponder keys, engine control computer ect. Scary what some mechanics will pull if they get a chance.
My wife 2002 impala did this it will work for a little bit but to really fix you will need to replace the pass lock security sensors in the switch it self

I just did my Duramax yesterday, it is a 2003. Without a terminal, you need to do this three times. Per the factory manual, you see the light go off, key off for 5 seconds, and then attempt to start. It will not start until you go through three cycles of 10 minute wait, and key off for 5 seconds. I am not sure why this vehicle is different, just thought I would share.

You got it. Many shops will charge you a diagnostic charge, and either do his fix, or tell you the computer is shot and charge you 1200 to replace it. (and then half the time they will just re-learn the code.) Someone mentioned that they changed the ignition switch. That wasn't needed in this case, as the car never did it again while my daughter owned it.
My dad's 2001 Silverado will randomly will not start. He tells me: Just leave it for a while and it'll turn on eventually. Yesterday the truck just wouldn't start at all. Fast forward to today and still it wouldn't start. I decided to try this and it actually worked.

Found this video, tried it once and it fired right up right away. Stupidly I didn't get a new fob before locking the doors the next day. Spent the last hour trying 6 times waiting ten minutes before trying again. Each time I try turning key lights are on dash but doesn't start, try a second key turn and alarm goes off again. Wtf Chevy! Such a dangerous flaw. Someone could really get hurt with such a terrible malfunction especially blaring the alarm every time.
Can this lockout happen when did they put an airbag sensor in? Because I just had that job done and all of a sudden the cars decided to quit it went into lockdown
***To prevent it from reoccurring, remove the ignition and simply clean it with brake cleaner. Relube with a very light lubricant and reinstall. Bad magnetic contacts in the ignition are what cause this to occur intermittently.
That I don't know. Check your manual. Many times you need both keys to add another. Your manual will tell you how to do this. this is where I found out about the relearn procedure I showed here. It was in the new car manual that was still in the glove box when I bought the car for my daughter. And then shortly after this video was made she totaled it when a texting driver blew a red light and hit her.

I did that and it still doesn't work.
They will just give you a faulty sensor relay and wait for you to return you either cut the wire,or go to Newrockies.com and get the bypass module

Did you have a good connection on your battery cable ends?? And is your positive wire tighten good on the starter?
