    Hello!
    I know what you are talking about. I guess at every place outside the USA it is hard to get hands on that craft stuff.
    I love that technique with the wreath builder template and never really thought about making it myself. What a great idea. Thanks for sharing

    Thank you for oploading this video. I'm going to try and make ons in plastic so I can keep it clean. Oh and I got a second tip, I didn't know that archival ink had mini cubes. So thank you and have a nice time crafting, Cindy from Belgium :-)

    I just found you and this is the first video that I’ve seen. I’m definitely going to start watching more of your videos.
    I wanted to do this myself because I thought that it could be done, but I wasn’t quite sure how to figure out how to do it. Thank you so much again for this video!

    Thank you for taking the trouble to sort out the measurements and then share it with us. I will certainly be making one. You are very clear with the instructions, I will no doubt be pausing as i go along, maybe even playing it several times, it will be a lot quicker than me trying to work it all out. I totally agree on prices and postage. Not everyone has a big budget, and we see things we would like but have to pick and choose very carefully. I am so very grateful for this you tube from you and have subscribed and look forward to seeing more card ideas in the future. Thank you for your time. Joan UK.

    Hello, this was a great tutorial.. I had already made my own wreath building template, only I cut mine from acetate. I thought that would be more durable than card stock. What I love about your tutorial is the different design ideas. Love the butterflies in the corners. Thank you for sharing.

    • @artycraftyalchemy
      @artycraftyalchemy  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you :) I have the plastic for stencils but am a scaredy pants when it comes to cutting it. The cardstock I used is 300gsm so nice and thick, it's also somewhat slick and feels super sturdy. I will see how it goes, may upgrade to plastic when it wears out!

    I have and love my Gina K Wreath Builder Kit. Having said that, I sure understand the enourmous shipping cost to AU. That is such a shame. Shipping cost is always a big consideration before I purchase something. I have shipped to and received from Au and learned a quick lesson. Never again. You did a great job overcoming this with building your own templet and sharing your knowledge with everyone. Thank you for this.

    Looked at so many DIY wreath builder video's and made one.. but it was not perfect. Have a baby that doesn't sleep so not much time and energy, so my brains harly work. BUT YOURS WAS SOOOO EASY WITH THE DIES !!! OMG you made my day !!! THANK YOU SO MUCH !!! And only had to see a little bit of your video, it was clear almost at the start of your video.. you are so brilliant !!!!! So didn't even need to see the full 22 min. ;-) as I have hardly time and energy haha.....thanx !!!!!!

    • @Pebblesmas
      @Pebblesmas 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ow, if you messure the middle on the dies and put a little dent with a sharp opject in the middle of the square die, you don't even have to cut 2 templates and make holes in them, because your video was so easy, I could even see that solution.. so you can only measure by the die.. even easier, if you understand what I mean.

    I'm in the states but on a limited income so I made my own, but used my Cricut to make mine. I started out with thin chipboard like you did. I have some thick plastic that I will be using as well. It works so well making your own. Glad you were able to over come the high price shipping and make your own. This template is so much fun to play with for sure and we all have small stamps that can be used with it. Glad too you showed others how to make using just dies. Well done!

    Thank you for making this fantastic tutorial. I just learned what the wreathbuilder template is this weekend. Gina K has a new Fall Wreathbuilder release and her tutorial popped up in my subscription feed. I'm in the U.S. and I was shocked by the price for the template, which is now sold separately from the wreathbuilder stampsets. I bought stencil plastic yesterday but could not figure out the simplest way to make sure the squares line up correctly. Now I can't wait to make my own template.

      luann rice It's expensive to post here and to post overseas from here sadly 🙁 We live so far away from everything 🤔 If I ever visit America I am bringing suitcases in my suitcases! 😂

  • @mpbailey18
    @mpbailey18 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Soon as I saw the Gina K template, I realized what it was & created my own so very simply! It's only two squares, one rotated on top of the other. Die cut two, rotated one square & adhered together. Traced around them on heavy cs & voila...have my own template...for free. Yours is much more professional & detailed though.... Too bad about Australia being so expensive to ship to. Often wondered if you could connect with people traveling from the US to Australia to bring you craft items & then mail with your country. I have two friends who travel there annually because their kids & grandkids live there. Just has to be a creative way to help you Aussies!!

    • @artycraftyalchemy

    Funny, I live stateside and while I have access to the companies here, I have always wanted to buy from the companies you have down there!! Darkroom Doors are one of my favorites. I have to convert the AUD to USD and then, there's the shipping as you mentioned. For a $41.98 order the shipping was $21.95. So I will wait until those stamps come stateside! We are starting to get some over here at company websites, but not all and not very quickly with new releases.
    My other favorite is IndigoBlu, but that is a UK company. I love their mega flakes for gilding stamped images, fortunately, Amazon now carries 2 colors of the flakes, not the ones I want, but it is a move forward! Thank you for showing us how to make the wreath template.

    Arty Crafty Alchemy this week in Officeworks I found small square post it notes that had fully sticky backs about $3 30sheets could cut and use for masking but when I looked in another area I found J Burrows brand 76x127 50 sheet Stick It Notes double size for less then to top if off there was 50mm x 5m Stick it notes roll by the same company to make it even better it has cm grid pattern on it.

      @@pmacorky I get their 250gsm, I use it a lot for copic colouring. Oxides don't work as well on it though. They seem to oxidise right away, maybe because of how smooth it is. It is under $10 for 125 sheets

    • @pmacorky
      @pmacorky 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Arty Crafty Alchemy thank you , I do some Lavinia stamping and sometimes the use gel plate and brushes so that weight and smoothness could be an advantage. I have a few oxides , distress inks and Versafine Clair and mostly stamp but a few backgrounds. Sometimes I watercolour and have a few Coptic markers.Office works are about 5 minutes from me but craft shop nearly half an hour so more convenient .

    Well done you for working this out and thank you for sharing. Shipping costs USA to UK are horrendous too & you get done for duty on top of that :( You can actually make your template a lot bigger than your stamp positioning platform & use just a small platform - most of the stencil hangs over the edge but as long as the corner of the cardstock is butted to the corner of the platform you can place your stamps on that section & away you go, no big expensive platform necessary. That was another idea from Jennifer McGuire which was a big game-changer for me. Thank you again, I have hit the subscribe button!

    i love that you figured this out and shared with us on how to make our own , very much appreciated , i did get a bit lost at the front of the video on the measurements i think i got the gist of th is by the end however , on the forefront you mentioned being able to make this for different sizes how wold i change the measurements for a smaller size ? i think just change the base measurements by 3?-

    • @artycraftyalchemy
      @artycraftyalchemy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really depends on the size of your die. Measure the diagonal size of your die (tip to tip through the centre empty space), then add 2cm or 3/4'' to that measurement for your base square. Divide the base square measurement in half for your centre lines and corner to corner for the diagonal. Hope this helps.

    Awesome! Let me speak of shipping costs: To Europe it‘s the same! For example I adore the Hero Arts Kit, but additional to the price of the kit I‘d have to pay shipping AND customs. Sometimes this would add up to three times the price of the products. This is insane. So I honour Gina K for this awesome idea, but I’m going to use this great tutorial of yours to get me a wreath builder. That‘s when you live on the other side of the world. ;) Greetings from the North to the South!

    Another FYI: to make your template stronger you can use either whole solid plastic (usually found wherever Quilting supplies are found. Or purchase plastic school folders and cut to size. Lasts longer then card board, chip board and cereal boxes.

    This might be helpful for you... look into ordering some of your die cuts, stamps & embossing folders from the WISH app. I've ordered quite a few from there.. granted it takes awhile to get them, BUT for the cost you pay for item & the shipping is very much worth it! Just a few dollars. Plus you can get assorted different scrapbooking supplies like washi tape, adhesive tapes, etc. etc.
    I do hope this helps you out. Another good idea is to use quilting template sheets to make this template. Then you will have something more sturdy & easy to clean off. =0) Ruth

    FYI: Instead of post it tape or the purple tape you can use either masking tape or low tack tape, try painters tape! I’m sure they have that in your local hardware stores in Australia. This holds much better where as the post it tape for masking your images.

    • @artycraftyalchemy
      @artycraftyalchemy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have used masking and painters tapes before and they tend to leave a sticky residue where as the post it tape does not. I own low tack painters tape for my watercolouring and it still rips the paper occasionally as well...

    Thanks for sharing. I, too, thought it would be easy to create my own as soon as I saw the wreath builder. Even though I live in the U.S. it still doesn't hurt to make my own...that way, I can buy more stamps or other supplies with the money I would have spent on the template. Now, where did you get those large square cutting dies? I prefer to make A7 sized cards, & I get so frustrated at how small most of the cutting dies are. I would kill for some really large circles, ovals, rectangles and squares. I've got a Big Shot Plus, so I can put up to 8 1/2 inches through my die cutting machine, but I can't find the darned BIG dies!

Even though I live in Australia most of the things I own are in inches because they are from America... If I can't get it on Amazon or eBay, I don't have it unless a friend is willing to shop and send, but even then, it's expnsive - it's not the companies; it's the US postal prices! Have a look at AliExpress, they've got SO much cool stuff for crafting!!

      Grrrreat comment... Any image, template, design can be recreated (especially nowadays with all the cutting machines) FOR PERSONAL USE ONLY. Meaning, you cannot in any way profit financially by selling the copied/recreated item. You can make yourself, your family or friends an item or shirts (Disney, TV show quotes, logo shirts, decals, etc) but cannot sell them for a profit. It is not uncommon for a company to serve a cease and desist order for a crafter infringing on copyright/trademark/patented items. There are many items/images that are free to use for reproduction or can purchased for reproduction (for commercial use). My rule of thumb, if I’m not sure, I won’t use it to sell it for a profit. Yes, many people do this anyway and shame on them, but this gal is just fine to follow the rules. If any of this info needs correcting or updating, PLEASE do so. A.C.A. I think you are quite okay. Ok firstly if you are talking about Gina K she did not invent the idea. I saw a lady make a wreath builder by measuring the squares out well before Gina's came out. Unfortunately it was not in English and I have never been able to find it again to credit her. It is just like Ellen Hutson bringing out the confetti finger dies and Lawn Fawn bringing out the double slider, magic slider and other designs. These were in the craft world a long time before these companies turned them into dies. Secondly as I am not selling the templates nor profiting from the video I do not need to ask permission to show how to make the template.
