You need to do something on stage 5, which gives you access to artifacts, and the game really takes off when you get artifacts. Basically on stage 5 there is a special teleporter different from the primordial teleporter. This one doesn’t spawn a boss, but basically, if you want a specific artifact, you have to enter the code of that artifact into the primordial teleporter, it will then create a portal to a special instance called an Artifact Trial, and basically it’s a special level where you have to fight to unlock the artifact. The artifact that you’re trying to get is always active during the trial. During the trial, you have to kill monsters until one drops an artifact key. You have to pick up the key and then interact with the cage holding the artifact, it will chip down a chunk of the cages health, (Stacking keys doesn’t stack damage, and using one clears all off the map, so use one asap before another spawns) and basically you have to keep doing that until it breaks, once it does, your artifact is unlocked and you pick it up. Artifacts can do things like allow you to pick your items(my favourite), make it so that no chests spawn, but monsters have a chance to drop items, they can make it so that monster spawns are double but their health is halved. They can do a number of things, and even better, you can still unlock character abilities, items, and achievements with artifacts active.
personally I think artifacts usually make the game too easy unless you like play with all of them or make terrible combos lol- much rather play eclipse if you’re getting bored, but that’s preference!
@ that’s true, but you help them get into the game and help them understand the item combos and all the intricacies of the different items and how they work, they should play with it for a bit, that at least how I started to understand
@@CheckpointCentral you shouldn’t cheat or get carried, but you could just edit the files to unlock everything instead of paying some guy, but you would still have to buy the dlc’s tho
In multiplayer only the owner needs the dlc’s

SOTS wasn't worth it before, it is kinda now. I still wouldn't reccomend it till it's been fully polished
