Brilliant result - we also got some of the cones and stuffed veg from an Olio pickup. On New Years eve we requested 6 items - got allocated 4 and picked up just over £49 of food. She'd had over 20 crates and just said she'd put some extra's in for us ..... 1st time collecting from that volunteer ..... an amazing bonus for the freezer.
you did absolutely brilliant. thanks to you i restarted using olio and i have saved £100's & £100's . i also discovered TBBT through your channel and have had some absolutely fantastic collections from there (🤞i get one this week). i think 95% of my xmas day dinner came from olio , including a tesco turkey crown that a lady i collect from regularly gave me from her own freezer that she had been gifted and didnt want. i did not buy any veg at all, even the salad & prawns for the cocktail starter came from olio. This has got to be the most frugal christmas we have ever had in 37 years of marriage. i cant imagine not being frugal now, its become a way of life. have a brilliant new year❤
you are very much helping people, i had joined olio years ago but not used it but since watching your videos decided to give it a go. i am now spending a lot less money on my grocery shopping than i have ever spent. this morning i picked up 6 big bags of potatoes 4 bags of parsnips, 8 bags of carrots, 6 packs of 3 red onions , 4 swedes and 2 red cabbages from one lady. 4 bags of salad 2 cucumbers and large extra thick cream from another olioer. i feel a bulk cook tomorrow of swede & carrot mash, braised red cabbage and roast parsnips all for the freezer . i have someone collecting a radley handbag i no longer use from me tomorrow and a bloke collected a teapot and plunger coffee maker today from me so i am also helping declutter my excess stuff ❤️
You are so kind to share your resources! Plus, by not sending the food to landfill you are helping the planet too. I wish that I could put that much effort in! How far away is your Olio person. My nearest is 8 miles from me. So balancing petrol + stress costs vs. saving the plant + free food it doesn't imo work out as worth my while. What do others think?
@@lynnoorman2144 we are very lucky they are within walking distance. My previous one was about 2 miles. I have gone further when they have a decent amount of something I really want.
You've done incredibly well. I lost track a bit over 2024. I normally grow a lot more of our food, but it was a complete flop for lots of reasons. I'm trying to get back on it now, but I'd struggle to get as low as what you have. 2 teenagers for a start, plus a hubbie who can't have gluten, oats, eggs or milk along with a few other things. I am determined 2025 will be better however.
I recognise that as a difficult challenge to your budget - a family member is the same. I do sometimes see gluten free breads on Olio but I know they are sometimes 3 times the price normally in the shops.
Amazing, Sam! Well done! I've gotten out of the habit of doing online surveys, but should really get back to it.
@danielleptc I've not done as many lately but the postal.one has made up for it.

@janepennock6933 this is brilliant and great to hear, so glad what I'm doing is helping people. 😊

@cha97michelle I'm sure you can do it. Yes teens can be a dent on the budget lol 😆
Well done on your no spend. Happy new year xx
@berylmullen6686 thank you 😊
I might try adding ours up again! Used to do this, but it was a few years ago.
@@DontCropMeNow it's interesting to see what the difference is.
@@tryingtogetby it certainly is. We save a lot by GYO, but only as we grow on a reasonable scale.
Well done Sam!

I have celiac disease so shopping has gone up xx
