Hi, I'm nearly 72 and I have one of the pots that belonged to my granny and if memory serves it contained Robertons fruit mincemeat which she would buy for Christmas, yes a lot of mincemeat but she baked and would never dream of buying what she called 'shop cake'. I keep wooden spoons etc. in mine by the hob, nice to see you back happy new year.
Bourne was still used up until the mid 1970’s . I used to live near the Denby factory and when i was getting married in 1977 i collected Denby Chatsworth range and some still had the Bourne mark….so you are right with your instinct on the design not being 100 years old
I love the old stoneware jars they have such character. I buy the old stoneware bottles at Carboots and charity shops. We made 2 wooden pallets into planters to put on the side of the house. I put dividing shelves in and they are a mixture of plants in one and stone bottles in the others.. I think they look fab. All your items were great finds.
You got some amazing bits - I need a new utensils pot -they are defo something I would buy- I need that Denny mug for my collection m! Love the glasses!
Love a good game of scrabble!! We’ve aged up and have been playing cards against humanity over Christmas 🤦🏻♀️ Love the candle holders!! My latest thing is buying old recipe books from the charity shops, I got another 2 today.
Girl, you absolutely scored at those shops! Lovely glass pieces and the pots are really nice too! I do think the 2 smaller ones might be newer - they look like the glaze is shinier and different, but they are still very likely 30 or 40 years old - or more. And they'll still do the job you need done, after all. The box may be old, it may be less old, but it's cute as can be and what a nice way to store your incense! I need to find myself one, now. I hope you and your entire family had a truly wonderful holiday season! Looking forward to what the New Year inspires you to share with us, as ever.
Happy New Year! Glad you're back. Loved the haul, amazing stuff. Just before Christmas my daughter was looking for a vintage trifle bowl and found one in a charity shop, then in the next charity shop she found a matching cake stand which she also had on her wanted list. 😘🍍🍍🍍
Enjoyed seeing all your lovely finds. This year my partner and I said we'd like the challenge of finding our Christmas gifts in charity shops. But as you don't know what you'll find where we can be on the lookout throughout the year. Itll give us something to do too
I like those pots, I was looking for something similar to put coffee pods in. Love the mug, love the tea pot.. I can’t believe how good those prices are where you live!
I’ve had some lovely items from some charity shops, items that are stamped and I got them for a few pound or more, I love Mediterranean style kitchenware. Happy new year 🥳 I also got some Maltese glass ha I can’t show you pics though on here, I’m going to the shops next week:)
I’m 70 my mam had several of these jars one was filled with some nasty brown sticky stuff it was malt extract and something else it was horrible but my mam loved the stuff. Others had flour and sugar in them. Wonder what happened to them. Brought back long lost memories thanks xx
Hi Jayne, I do not shop in the city centre or anywhere near the city centre for that matter 😁. Bother Rotherham Hospice and Ashgate Hospice have a few shops and they are all well priced and really nice to shop in. The Salvation Army stores are also realistically priced. X
Hi. I’ve just subscribed and watched a couple of your TGTG videos. Can I ask your name? I’ve looked and can’t find it lol. Enjoying the channel so far x
Good stuff you got there. Hope you enjoyed the party. I’m not back at work until 9th January so I’m still in full Christmas mode. It’s great. Love those pots. I have a couple. Plus a matching flagon.

I’m loving hearing the memories of the pots! X
You could also buy stoppers for the smaller pots and use them for storing things like rice etc
Yes that is a good idea. You know until this thread I didn’t even think about the fact that back in the day, food stuff was stored in them!
Great to see your charity shop bargains xxx

I got good housekeeping and the dairy book of family cookery, the recipes though, the housekeeping one has baked cucumber in a cottage cheese sauce 🤢
Do you try any of the recipes?

Durables is good quality glassware. I have their tumblers.

What nice bits you found. Pretty sure that is an incense box, looks Indian or Moroccan doesn't it. The Mdina glass is really pretty. HNY x
Happy New Year to you too Lisa. Hope 2025 is a good year for you x
