Thanks for this video. One thing I'm still trying to wrap my mind around: I don't understand how/why Turo can charge both hosts AND renters for protection plans. Let's say a host pays for a protection plan, but the renter has no protection plan or insurance. And then the renter gets into an accident. Wouldn't the host's plan go into effect? Why would the renter have a separate liability if the host has already bought a protection plan? It doesn't add up to me. Can you please help me understand? Thanks so much!
I just saw that the liability of the premium protection plan in Turo covers only up to the state-minimum, not 750K, is this correct? Perhaps they changed it?
Why would I need to provide My personal insurance to Turo if I paid for the standard plan? The reason o got this plan was to give me peace of mind that my personal provider would not be involved.
Insurance follows the car, not the driver. If you drive your friends car, and if you get into an accident, as long as you had permissive use and didn’t reside within their residence for more than 165 days in some states, their policy would cover it. Turo is such an ambiguous area because if you are allowing someone else to drive it, it is permissive use, so your insurance would cover it. Now if you doing rideshare, then your insurance would not unless you had a rideshare policy. Insurance is such a deep whole of technicality that it’s hard to determine coverage without reading the policy. Also, a lot of agents don’t really know what they are talking about because agents are on the sales side while auto adjusters are on the application side of actually applying your policy. Adjusters understand policies because they issue payments. Agents don’t always understand, and no fault to them because it’s really two different ballparks and there is so much. But I’d say read your policy specifically
So if we get some plan are they gonna charge us and take it away right away for protection or are they gonna hold it and if it doesn’t get damaged they give it back?
I'm from Costa Rica, I don't have a personal insurance, so If I get the Premier Protection, I don't have to worry about anything on a regular vehicle ($
What about if I currently have insurance through State Farm with my own personal vehicle in the State that I live in, and I want to rent a BMW with Turo in the state of Arizona? Wont my current insurance cover accidents and incidents with a rental?
Wait is this video for Turo host explaining the plans or is this for people that are wanting to rent a car to drive themselves and pay for the service? Lol
This information is incorrect. Turo's protection only applies if your insurance company denies coverage. So if you have a $500 deductible with your insurance company, your out of pocket is capped at $500. Turo's protection plans do not replace your insurance. Any claims will you go to your insurer first.
Had an. Insurance guy explain and still didn’t answer how to insure your car in the first place (geico State Farm progressive ) when your car is not in service. Your insurer will try to find any reason to deny coverage. So your personal car with personal insurance gets NO COVERAGE if you cause a small accident on date night and then file a claim. They will say oh you’re not covered because you violated our terms of service.
Thanks for the video. I just got back to my parked Turo rental and somebody backed and hit the front. I have minimum coverage. Im about to call the police but what am I liable here for? It's def less than 3k
All the vehicles have liability insurance and they can’t be on the road with out an insurance. So if there is no fault collision or theft than the host’s insurance which was already there by default should be able to cover it.
Thank you for this video.
Every other video is about the Hosts insurance.
I’d be more interested in knowing if I can just add the vehicle to my insurance so I’m fully covered
Good Informative video!

If you can explain this it would be great
Owners are required to carry their own business insurance. Commercial Auto Insurance through either their LLC or Sole Proprietorship.
Very thorough and easy to comprehend!

Good video, but one suggestion. I would compare TURO to AirBnB for vehicles.
why would not my insurance company cover it? How is this different from me driving my friends car ?
It's strange, I agree

Does Turo accept secondary and/or primary credit card coverage if an accident occurs ? Great video.
Good Informative video. Thank you.✌️👍❤️🙂🙏

My question^
I'm a tourist from Europe. I am not insured, what do I need?
What happened if the car dies on the road. What do the renters do?
So if I rent a Tesla X Model, I wouldn't be covered?
I'm from Costa Rica, I don't have a personal insurance, so If I get the Premier Protection, I don't have to worry about anything on a regular vehicle ($
I'm not sure, I would contact Turo for assistance with your situation.
I was born in Costa Rica🇨🇷🙌 and adopted to America what city in Costa Rica If you don't mind me asking
What about if I currently have insurance through State Farm with my own personal vehicle in the State that I live in, and I want to rent a BMW with Turo in the state of Arizona? Wont my current insurance cover accidents and incidents with a rental?
I have the same question
this all depends. i called to make sure and ended up denying it. honestly, i still might get the standard plan before my trip.
They will charge you more with your insurance for business use do better to keep them separate

With the minimum, you never pay for anything over $3k. So you’d basically pay for whatever the damage is
How'd it work out ?
RIA is I'm about to book a turo car with min cvr .... tks in advance

Is that a thing in every state in the USA?
@@switzerlandsome states are at fault, some states are no fault
