  • In this week’s video, my mom and I make a classic dim sum dish: 蘿蔔糕 lo baak gou! Hope you guys like it!
    There are many ways to make LBG! You can add or subtract the fillings to your taste (my dad likes to add different types of sausages) or play with the ratio of rice flours to achieve your preferred consistency!
    *Wikipedia: “The less commonly used radish cake is a more accurate name, as Western-style turnips are not used in the dish but rather shredded radish.”

    I miss these videos where more Cantonese was being spoken. Even though it was short, the short segments always add up giving a bigger picture to understanding the language.

    So your video just showed me I've been pronouncing dried scallop incorrectly my whole life... I had thought the first character was *gon* 乾, as I translated it more literally from the English. Thanks for providing the jyutping!

    我一直以爲“蘿蔔糕”英文叫做“carrot cake”,因爲“蘿蔔“英文叫做”carrot”!(對唔住我嘅廣東話有啲差)

    Hmm, your recipe seems to be much softer than what I'm used to seeing in dim sum restaurants. Perhaps you used too much liquid?
