    The hardest thing I've ever done. I walked from Dalwhinnie across Rannoch Moor and down Glen Nevis over two days. Then I stayed at the Youth Hostel and decided to climb Ben Nevis by the CMD Arete. It was a blazing hot day (they have only had about 3 in the history of Fort William!) and I had a full sized expedition size backpack. The worst part, as always, was coming down. My knees were absolutely shot carrying that big pack down. I'm not even joking it took me about 3 hours to descent the last 1,000 feet! And at the end of it all I had the worst sunburn I've ever had. Still glad I did it though!

      It is very challenging hike, I hiked Ben Nevis twice now, second time I did it was tourist path up and down, it is very hard on knees and ankles as you say ;)

    Did this walk with two work friends in 1982 before we all departed Scotland for partures new. It's a must do walk if you love the Hills. ❤

    Nice route and video. Must have been a very tiring day, especially if you were playing the bagpipes the whole way. Not that I've ever heard the bagpipes sound quite like this before!

      Thank you for your comment, it was a very long day indeed, and had to go to work next morning :) one of the best routes to climb Ben Nevis.

      @@brigaadventure3291Certainly seems like the best choice of route to me. I would need to grow wings before attempting those terrifying ridges at 6:38, even if they might be a bit less tiring. This CMD arete looks a lot like Crib Goch to me - I go walking in Snowdonia and have yet to attempt anything in Scotland.

      @@redalert2834 It is definitely not for fainthearted, can be quite scary. Crib Goch is narrower and slightly more terrifying :) I haven't had a chance to hike Crib Goch yet, but it is on my list :)

    Which path did you descent, i liked the river that your beautiful dog enjoyed.

      Hey. Thanks. We descent on tourist path up to the loch and followed the river down and crossed it, there is no clear path over there and very boggy. Best option to go towards CIC hut and descent 😉

      @@brigahonda1934 Ive got another question though, during the ascent, was there a way to get to the CMD straightway to save time and energy?

      @@wulfricrishi007 sorry late reply, closes car park is North Face in Torlundy, and then follow the path all the way up to cmd, is a long hike, over 12miles in total ;) thank you for kind words ;)

    Great effort it’s on my list how did you find the final push up to the summit it looks steep thanks David

      @brigaadventure3291  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, it was definitely a big push, we went on a seriously windy day which didnt help at all, slow us down alot. Its very steep and little bit of scramble, but i think for me it was not too hard coz i knew we are so close to the summit 🙂
      Definitely recommend to do CMD, its incredible 👍 good luck on your hike

    It's safer on the tourist path, somebody died on the CMD last week.

    • @brigaadventure3291

      Definitely safer on a tourist path, and I wouldn't recommend hiking CMD for inexperienced hikers.
