“Some folk poke the holes before they are wrapped, but I do it after its wrapped” yeah cause they don’t want pieces of aluminum in their potato’s as you can see demonstrated at 4:07 when you remove the top of the middle potato and as you scoop it out a second later. At 4:08 you can clearly see a piece of aluminum foil above your thumb as you scoop the potato out, if there is one there is likely others in there. Aluminum is a “heavy metal” and while it is generally safe to cook in, acid foods (tomatoes for example) as well as stomach acids can dissolve it allowing you to consume trace amounts, which is not good for your health. Right now there is a lot of research and studies out there that point to Aluminum as a potential source or risk for Alzheimer’s and Adult or Senior onset Dementia as well as other health qualities, even in very small amounts. You only poke the potato’s to release steam from inside the skin and prevent splitting of the potato, the foil doesn’t have to have holes unless you are wanting to dry the potato out some (not a lot) and then only on or two is needed. Unless you are welding the foil closed somehow there is more than enough room for it to vent the steam without bursting or splitting from the foil, the skin can be different depending on how rapidly it expands, in a microwave it is very rapid, not so much in an oven, so not really needed in a regular oven.

Subbed here in Scotland :) one thing that changed up my bake potatoes that you need to try, stab all around the potato with a fork every inch or so, the soak them for half an hour in real salty water, the dry and then continue as you did with the oil :) trust me it is night and day as the salt water draws excess moisture out of the potato and it makes the skins crispier when they come out i also mash the potato with Philladelphia and herb cream cheese , (soft cheese) i used to hate baked potato now it is one of my fav things to eat
