Is this thing you call Mandarin, well, do you know that only the duck and the citrus fruit are Mandarin? There is a dialect, though. It is called Putonghua. Lowai mistakenly call Putonghua Mandarin. You ain't doing the same, are you?
🤣小土豆?! OMG, but that’s also remind me of the first time I ever gone to Haerbin. Yup definitely, I was in red buffing winter coat. While my friends who are local just went with grey and black coat.
Love your videos Amy but they always make me so hungry! It's so nice how you make friends with literally everyone you meet when you travel places. It makes such a difference to see you chatting away with locals and owners, really makes it feel like I'm truly getting an insight in to the authentic side of each place's cuisine
omg I would live at that 2nd place! So glad you went even though it only had 8 reviews. That lady was so adorable and the food looked amazing. It reminds me a lot of korean bbq. I eat perilla leaves every week they are so good 😋
Actually, because potatoes were imported into China back in the time, it’s called “YangYu洋芋”, “Yang洋” means foreign, literally means “foreign taro”. While potato also has a name “TuDou土豆”, literally means “beans from the earth”(potatoes used to be really small), but “土”also has a meaning of “local”. So, “TuDou土豆” stands for Chinese (local) and “YangYu洋芋” stands for foreigners😂😂
Cannot believe you visited my hometown Qiqihar and even brought Xingyue with you. I would say Qiqihar has nothing better compares to Harbin but we do have the BEST BBQ on grille in China for sure lol.
Damn, your video is too short! Both of you are so fun together, Xingyue always cracks me up LOL and your videos are always interesting and informative. Looking forward to more future collaborations together! :D
Many restaurants offering top-notch service and cuisine in China get drowned out by the crowd of establishments paying for traffic through fake reviews due to the algorithms of traditional rating apps. However, with the emergence of new apps like Xiaohongshu in recent years, there has been a counterbalance to the traditional rating software. Moreover, many locals frequent these restaurants but seldom use these rating apps. I'm glad that Amy and Xingyue stuck to your opinions and visited this exceptional restaurant! Looking forward to your next video.❤
Wow finally Qiqihar! My home town. Every time when I am back home I will have numerous Qiqihar bbq🎉. After trying many bbq in European countries, Middle Eastern countries and many provinces of China, I find that the Qiqihar style bbq (sliced beef bbq on plates) is the best!
I am in love with this channel... meat, meat, meat 😆😆 Fat is fat, but it is so delicious (to consume with moderation). To be honest, i love vegetables too. Ok, I am going to prepare a Beef Bourguignon (carrot, leek, olive, tomatoes, big chunks of beef with bone and fat and French wine) for dinner 🤪 My dream is to have a trip in China with my entire family and try all these foods. 🤩
Love that you gave a lesser known restaurant a chance. Also love that you ladies are not afraid of fat and have good appetites. I did not realize perilla leaves were eaten outside of Korea.
Having Sauce / Gravey with rice is such an Asian thing. When I was much younger, I could easily have 1 bowl of rice per dish simply having Sauce / Gravey mixed into the rice.
Except of 6 months of freezing winter, it's not a bad place to live. Also, if it's not Harbin, or Shenyang, it's super boring. Another thing, it's very polluted. Food is the best by far, people are friendly and hospitable, and the prices are not high
@@laurayu3076understand but I’m wondering if the concept of eating around a grill is an original Chinese concept that extended from hotpot or if it’s a recent concept maybe imported from korean bbq

Wow,your friend is so cute and funny but damn, didn't realise she can speak such excellent Mandarin! Btw,this is so interesting and informative, had no idea this part of China produces such excellent beef until now. You can tell just by looking at the deep almost black colour of that beef with the fat that it's top notch, and that chef knows just like any top steak houses worldwide that with such excellent beef no seasoning is required, just a little salt and pepper. How come the foodie world hasn't heard of this? Forget your exorbitantly priced Wagyu and Kobe beef, just get this for a fraction of the price but just as tasty!😂
because dongbei is close to north korea, it's the culture in that region. Veggies don't grew well in the cold, so it's mainly pickled veg and meat. People enjoy huddling around a heated barbeque . It's climate influencing cuisine
I recommend you to travel to Yixing and Nanshan Bamboo Sea in Zhejiang. The bamboo forest scenery there is also very good. There are also high-altitude cable cars, panda bases, ancient towns, and ancient villages that you can experience.
I love seeing how geography and culture impact food. This food has bits of things I associate with Russia, Korea, and of course China and it makes sense from a geographic sense how all those influence each other to create this cuisine! So cool to see!

thank u for supporting small local business
In DongBei restaurant, if they tell you "Small" it is big, "Big", it is super big.
The owner from the 2nd restaurant is so sweet! Glad you went there instead of the other one! ❤
What IS this collab??! Amy AND Xingyue?! Am I in heaven??!
omg thank you for taking me on the best beef adventure bb!!!!!!!! I'm still dreaming of beef slices, tom nook leaves, soul sauce and sweet aunties 😍

Wow, ! So cool! Haven’t see Xingyue on TH-cam for so long! Nice to see you two together travelling
Amy you're a "imported potato"?! LOL 😆. You're very funny 🤣.

Please have Xingyue back soon! She's so entertaining.
Same here in Japan, beef from Hokkaido is more prized because it's from colder / northernmost area.
Xingyue sure knows her way around r.e the taxi “colab” with the restaurant. You two make a wonderful duo!
This channel, Xingyue' channel and 歪果仁研究协会, always put a smile on my face.

Nice to see Dongbei food. My father in law was born in Mudanjiang, heilongjiang province.

Agree, plain rice with some good sauce. No need anything else. Yum!

It's too cold in winter. Elder people may get stroke easily when they go from indoor to outside due to the temperature difference.
Except winter😂Even in liaoning, the winter is so cold.
an immediate LIKE after the appearance of xingyue
You are so lucky to be in China and mixing with the best people such as the Ychina Crew
