    I used a bottom fan in mine and did not have any problems with cable management. Fractal gives some cable-management suggestions in the manual. The 24-cable can be folded and stuffed between the motherboard and PSU, the 8-pin CPU cable can be folded and run below the motherboard, and the GPU cables go through the spine and up along the back of the case.

    *10.4l. I've had my Terra for 10 days now and so far I really like it. I went with the graphite because while the green is interesting I just can't do green. Build quality is really good and I love the matte black which is much less a fingerprint magnet than other anodized aluminum cases I have owned. Custom cables make using a 120mm fan much easier and just a note it is extremely difficult to fit a fan grill on a 25mm fan, cut out needs to be a bit higher.

      People complain that SFF parts are expensive but in reality they really arent. Z690 boards can be found for 200 in good condition or sometimes new, B series being even cheaper. SFX PSU's are usually in the 120-150 range for some 650-750w. Sure if you want 1000w then you'll have to shill out some more but it's worth it to go smaller. I'll never go full tower again

  • @Acidicpure
    @Acidicpure ปีที่แล้ว +16

    I wish they had made a slightly bigger version that could hold a 240 AIO in the top like the A4-H20, the case looks so nice even moreso in that jade green colourway but the trade offs just aren't worth it when it comes to wanting gaming performance too.

  • @cmja09
    @cmja09 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    that fully adjustable spine is AWESOME. it was considered a mod on SSUPD cases where we adjust it by using standoffs for motherboard and GPU, it's an excellent feature to have.

    A slim bottom fan as exhaust would go a long way to help GPU temps and should be easier to install than a full sized fan. This will be my next case whenever I get around to a full system upgrade. I just need to decide on the color.... they all look great.

    It's probably my favourite sff case in terms of aesthetics but the lack of cooling options is just disappointing. All the competitors you pointed out (even the ones that are the same volume) manage to fit a 240mm radiator. I really hope they make a larger sff version of the Terra that can fit 2 rads in it

    • @thierryfaquet7405
      @thierryfaquet7405 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's nice but very limited in usage.

    • @ThomasSorensen1
      @ThomasSorensen1 ปีที่แล้ว

      I keep being so close to buying the Terra & seeing if I can make it work. The 1 part I'm keeping for new build is my 3070FTW3, if I pair it with a 7800x3D for gaming with an eye to upgrade GPU in 2-3yrs I don't think I can keep the Terra cool enough & worry it'll sound like a little jet turbine on my desk.
      I might try a white Ridge instead bcz it can fit a 70mm CPU cooler & maybe a Noctua NH-L12s can fit & keep things cool enough to not be too loud.
      If Fractal had an NR200 or Revolt 3 sized version of the North I'd be willing to go a bit bigger for better temps & quietness. But I don't want something that you see and immediately think "PC" so while something like the Lian Li Q58 looks great in white to me it's not quite ideal

      This is definitely a case you have to build around and choose your components ahead of time. I went with a Ryzen 9 7900 (non X) and I can run Cinebench and never go above 75C using a Noctua NH-L12 Ghost Edition cooler. I have a PCI-E 5.0 SSD with an active cooler that stays cool and quiet and I went with a 7900 XTX Reference card. The build was very loud initially (mostly due to the tiny fan on the SSD) but after tuning, it is no louder than the North tower I was using before. I am in love with this case.

    Fractal has been making some downright beautiful cases after getting out of their Define slump and I love it. Other than a minor nitpick in that I wish the wood was actually bordered by some metal, it's gorgeous. I've heard comments here and there about how other cases are more compact and/or provide better CPU cooling options and I'll admit that they have a point, but the Terra still found a great compromise of price, looks, size, ease to build in, and performance. When you consider all those factors, it's pretty amazing.

    I just want to clarify that the adjustable spine isn't new, Fractal just copied W360's Formd T1. Vent design also seems to be identical to the chinese SFF cases, which are good to be honest. Still a good thing fractal does make more mainstream, allowing more SFF choices in the market, making other SFF boutiques more available in supply

    As a side note, while I wouldn't put my main rig in here, a secondary low powered rig can absolutely be built in this. Get a North for your main rig and this for a secondary one, like a NAS, a server or even a media rig or something.

    For itx builds with low cpu cooler clearance. In some cases with a few coolers you can swap the stock 25mm fan with a quality slim 15mm fan to save about 10mm of clearance. That could help some taller low profile cpu heatsinks to fit in your case maybe.

    79 - the rest of the case.
    Eh, I'm not THAT NUTS!

    It is recommended to point the bottom fan as exhaust. It will help draw away hot air from the GPU.

    Very comprehensive review of a beautiful case. I think this is the one that's going to get me to finally switch to ITX.

    Honestly if the formdt1 was %30 cheaper and much more readily available, it would stomp this case in every category. Its smaller at less than 10 liters and can fit an aio for the cpu (albeit that aio will have to have one slim fan and one full size fan). Gpu wise it only allows for a 4090 fe and 4090 ventus just like the terra. Heck you can even do a full water cooling build in the formdt1 if you wanted to. The fractal terra is just a case thats form over function. There was no need for it to only allow for one case fan. I love the design but you could get the a4h20 for cheaper and itll offer you more cooling options. Also the formdt1 is the one that introduced the movable spine (although its more manually done than in this case)

    Will there a review soon on the phanteks polar t6 air cooler?

    Eh... The FormD T1 is still a better sandwich case, smaller, and can fit two 280mm rads, with lots of room for modding. Although I do like the wood finished of the fractal, I wish the T1 would have something similar.

    I’m building my first pc ever and I think this will be the case I will go with since I don’t have much space in my room. I mean getting the parts will take months and months maybe even next year, but I’ll can prob buy the case first for now. :)
    That green will match my room color scheme too.

    It's cool. I feel like people who build PCs are quite often into gaming, or need GPU power for something else, so I'd like to see this kind of beautiful case in bigger size.

    Question regarding GPU temps. The Gear Seekers channel reversed the direction of the PSU so that the PSU intake fan pulled air away from the GPU and as result they had better GPU temps than this build. My concern about doing that is now your PSU would always be in taking hot air. It just seems like that would be a lot of stress on the PSU. Any thoughts?

    Loving the Fractal North and being impressed by the Terra, I really hope they bring a North Mini which is build around mATX!

    Fractal has been blowing it out of the water with their last 3 cases, but its too bad basically nobody designs specifically for mATX. I want the Torrent, North or Terra so bad but they're either too big or too small

      The Meshify 2 Mini is a great Micro-ATX case. It can easily fit a dual rad custom loop with 280/240mm radiators and isn’t much larger than a Torrent Nano or an H210. But I prefer the Torrent Nano as it, while being ITX, can house a triple rad setup 😅.

      @@disco.volante I currently have a Define C and the Meshifies are pretty much the same thing with a mesh front. I've looked at the Pops but they seem a little cheap and gamery. Not to Fractal's fault of course, it's meant to be a budget case. Their new stuff is just stunning and I feel left out, considering that they actually did keep mATX in mind for the Pop

    Always an issue with itx cases, “how bout we go a little bigger” then eventually it just becomes a mATX case. Love this one, but have to go with the Dan c4 to at least for me to maximize the size of my graphics card

      Install graphic card outside on monitor much more cooler.
