    Dear Diary,
    Today I took my first shower! It was amazing though my fur was all tangled afterwards. I was heading back home when I saw this comb-scratcher thing needed to be built. I quickly built that then was the first to use it on my tangled fur. It wasn't working well as my fur was all dry. I went back to the shower then ran back to the scratcher, it worked really well. There was a small mat that I had to chew off but that shouldn't happen again now that we have these luxuries. This community is really nice compared to when I was living alone. A couple days later I became stranded, the other builder decided to build some stairs blocking where we were. I honestly don't know why he did that. This white pointy thing flew over and destroyed the stairs. I had seen it before but thought I was hallucinating. It seems to be helping us? It's very new to me and sometimes flies so fast that it's scary. The others don't even mention it, as though it was always here. Some of the building locations are really far from the house. It feels like I spend half my day going to the building site, spend a couple minutes building then have to back to sleep and eat. It's slowed progress quite a bit. In some really great news, we have our own hut now. Me and the other builders have been really enjoying having a place to chat before and after our shift. It's near the campfire so I just love it. We have some plans to build these mango storages but one of the stairs blocks the entrance, so hopefully that will get fixed before we build it. Maybe that flying pointer thing? The day finally arrived and the district crossing was built. Thankfully I wasn't chosen to move. It's so sad to see some friends go. We've built a lot here that I'm really proud of and I'm glad I didn't have to leave it all behind. Disaster has hit, we've ran out of food. The district we had started all came back. Most died. We had a mass funereal. There are only 3 of us left as I write this. I'm helping out farming now. Hopefully this isn't my last entry. If it is, we had a great goal, I hope our descendants can finish it.

    "'Beaver Bluffs.' That is the name of our newly-found colony on the highland. Personally, I would've gone with a much better name, but alas, town-naming is not within my job description... Though, I wouldn't mind having a town in my honor for helping found our settlement. I am getting distracted, however. What is more important is overseeing the progress of the colony. Progress in expansion is slow, but we are achieving it. From the view of the Tower of Wood, I've noticed our construction team have reached the southwest plateau and have completed construction of the water-blocker and the new industry zone that will compliment it. I must say, the new colony, dubbed by the others as "Bad Scrapton," looks grand (ignoring the miscalculation with the flood of course).
    However, what's also contributing to the slow progress is the heightened demand of more workers, since they despise the long hours of toil. Bunch of slackers, they are, I say. Surely, more baby-makers would be enough to give us all the laborers we need to have them quit their wining. That turned out to be a bad idea, as much of our numbers have decreased with food issues. We are now down to only a handful of beavers. I fear the Iron Council back home will have my tail for the failure of this colony.
    I will not give up, though! Cannot disappoint them, the Great KOS, and the Great White Pointer in the Sky. We shall not die!"

    21:30 That's green because it isn't just bad water. There's some badwater but it's actually probably MORE good water. Not sure if you figure this out later but I thought you might immediately look upstream to find the good water source but nope. At least not right away.

    Maybe you should build a lock (with levees and sluices) around the water sources. Getting bad water to pour over to the left

      Was just thinking the same thing :D currently on Cycle 6 as I'm watching and I'm getting worried it won't be ready for the first bad tide. Currently at 55:00.
      That way your bad water pump platform isn't a complete bust since it will fall off the side into the little enclosed area.

    Looks like you had a bit of an 'incident'.
    From what I can see happened, by cutting down on kohlrabi production to increase berry production it came to the point that it was unsustainable to feed your current beaver population and they began eating the berries, prevent you from gaining 'new' population.
    In addition, migrating half of your work force to the new colony left a lot of shortages on the main colony, which unfortunately, included the farmhouses, meaning the rapidly dwindling food stores weren't being restocked.

      Reducing the kohlrabi production hardly mattered, the farmers barely ever got close to the kohlrabis to the right of the berries, they never fully harvested them. Another farm or a more efficient crop was needed. Splitting into two districts, but specifically the district crossing was the nail in the coffin. The four highest priority jobs there got rid of the farmers.

      Cutting down the kohlrabi fields did nothing. If you notice, most of the outer kohlrabis were never ever hardvested, so there was more than enough.,

      Ah, I think you misunderstood me. By 'reducing the kohlrabi production' I mean that both the planting and the reaping of kohlrabi's was reduced. The reason why they were never harvested was because there were fewer beavers having to go a further distance to pick the crops. The two beavers on duty couldn't get the kohlrabi's from the fields into the warehouses to be eaten at a sustainable rate, so berries were used to supplement the deficiency.
      Before the food nose-dived, you'll notice that nearly all of the kohlrabis were getting harvested (maybe a few tiles just past the blueberries were leftover, but that's more due to the distance from the farmhouse). It's hard to tell when the farms switched from two beavers per farmhouse to only one, but at that point, the labor was unequal to the task. Increasing the travel time to get to the remaining crops just compounded that problem.
      tl;dr
      There were less beavers harvesting fewer crops that were further away.

      Yep, I replied to him better explaining my comment. The short of it was that there were less beavers harvesting fewer crops that were further away. You essentially had a slow leak of food.

    53:12 The shaft line blocked the "line of sight" when going up the stairs, if you put those pu on a platform to do a cute little arch the forester should regain some ground

    This is later game but you can put impermeable floors on top of building so you can put a swimming pool on top of a housing block. Or you could even put the house under a water fall and constrain it to fall off only one side so everyone has to walk through a Waterfall to get home to sleep and go out to work.
    21:32 I think that is green because the river is a mix of fresh water and and bad water. Depending on the mix the green will spread further, like if it is 60% fresh and 40% bad the fertile land would be smaller then a 40% Fresh and 60% bad
    Side note I saw in another video power can come up from underneath or down form on top. And (I think) they can be use as 5 way power transfer. Like power is coming up from the bottom, all the side but the side with the door and out the top. I don't know if it is a Iron Teeth function or if it is an all building function.

    The crash of beavers was really bad but at least the colony survived barely, I hope we rebound although now I am working as a farmer now just working to save those that are still around wish me luck. ~ third entry from Chekta the Beaver

    For the metal colony maybe put in a pool of water to initially grow trees but then get rid of the water dump so the trees die off. Like the metal industry area did have trees but over time it killed off the trees and the green grass?

    You need to have a bad water diversion that goes over the edge of the cliff. Hopefully you have enough crops saved up when the bad water poisons them.

    Beavers can't stand on top of stairs and build 1 level up. Beavers can stand on bottom of stairs and build 1 leve up. If you remove the farm house the Beavers will be able to build the roof because the will stand on top of warehouse.

    Hey Katherine, you can build a huge water storage place where u want to chop the logs down on the right wherethe crater is, if you build it correct maybe u can place the water pumps there and you have a longer water supply :)
    And can you please build an nice bad water outlet :( my anxiety cant take it any longer 😢

    The Ironteeth don't eat cattail crackers. Is that good or bad news for the cat?
    The music was playing in the first third of the video but it did sound very faint.
    Kohlrabi sounds like a mass noun but I looked it up and it does have a plural.
    I think a plank costs two logs so a single floodgate is effectively the same as a dam if you have planks.
    The large construction site set to very high was distracting the beavers somewhat from that half-built suspension bridge. But then again, fiddling around with priorities too much doesn't make for good viewing either.
    I was wondering when you were going to fire Bad Scrapton's lone lumberjack, but it died. 😢 You first ran out of Kohlrabies exactly 45 minutes into the video, then blueberries too 4½ minutes later, but it looks as if your gather and farmers were still almost keeping up with hunger, thus hiding the true problem for a further 5 minutes, at which point beavers were starting to starve, however ironically you were working on mangrove storage which is why the starvation went unnoticed. The district split 6½ minutes later seemed to be the final nail in the coffin.

    I wonder if those 100 log power wheels are meant for expensive early game power, but also continuous, non-wind or water dependent beaverbot power. If you can just assign bots to it, you would get very dependable power delivery.

      Happily, the beavers can use those wheels to power bot charging stations. If you really commit to the bit, build a gravity battery so the bots can still charge overnight.

    I really hope this colony comes back from 3 beavers. I'm looking forward to watching this series. The IT don't sustain as well on kohlrabi as the Folktail do on carrots. They really need better food. Get rid of those coffee beans (they are just taking up much needed farmland) and replace it with cassava and get yourself a fermenter to start making fermented cassava. Then plant some canola and soybeans so you can make fermented soybean. I swear the IT eat twice as much as Folktail, lol. My IT colonies really aren't sustainable until I've gotten to corn and eggplant rations. Here's hoping for the best!

    I realise this video is nearing two weeks old so it's pretty useless information at this point, but I'm 30 minutes in & you've repeatedly said there is no music, you've even gone as far as to now add a Timberborn soundtrack to the video. I don't know if you're playing on a laptop or something so it maybe has poor sound, but I'm sat watching this with quite expensive gaming headphones on & I can assure you the game music has been playing throughout, albeit rather quietly.

      Yeah, we figured it out. I had it very low, and there is a lot of noise in my studio from the air conditioner, etc.

    Man i cant see any comment about it but you have been running low on food for 2/3 of the video ur population just increased that much. Might be that u felt u planted food when u did the coffee but that just took up place. Also laughed when u said "nice" when u to having 20 coffeee beans :)

    Wow this is very weird that the person who taught me Factorio is just totally clueless about Timberborn. Sooo many signs were missed about the food. Hope you can recover the colony but I think watching this might not be good for my mental health ...

      Clueless? NOPE. Ive been playing this game for the better part of 5 years or so, and have played many successful colonies. In fact, I dont think Ive had a single series where the colony died off outright. If I wasnt knowledgeable, I wouldnt have been able to save things.

      Also, that last comment "not good for your mental health"., is so insulting, and really upsetting. My content is family friendly, its entertaining, and interesting. If you cant understand how that is good entertainment, then I feel sorry for you.
