Turbo Thomas Pack includes Thomas motorized toy train and two Booster Tracks. Flip the switch on the Booster Tracks to change the color from green to yellow. To make Thomas travel in faster "Turbo" mode, send him over the Booster Track while it's switched to green
To slow Thomas down from "Turbo" mode to normal speed, send him over the Booster Track while it's switched to yellow. That motor unit probably has a factory error in it. I had one that I didn’t play with much (it was a normal locomotive) and the motor started sounding weird, but because I had so many Thomas’ I was able to get it working again
I did read on the fisher price site others who have TURBO Trains that no longer go TURBO. Looks like Fisher price replace them free of charge.

I have all of these as well and none of them have turbo anymore; it only lasted a few days and I didn’t modify them in any way; I just used the speed tracks.

I think the cut out on the turbo diesel is to save batteries. When the engine isn’t on the tracks because I saw diesels back wheels off the tracks so the device or whatever inside was probably made to switch off the engine when it senses the back wheels off the tracks. We use batteries like there is no tomorrow because my little brothers forget to switch off their trains.
