I agree that is the last straw for a lot of people, myself included. GF and TPC need to get this right otherwise they are going to burn through the last of people's goodwill for the franchise and company. Fingers crossed that PLZA is going to be the only mainline game for 2025.

It'll be the last straw for a number of grown fans, certainly. Kids, on the other hand, will probably enjoy it. Not because they don't necessarily know the difference between good and bad games; they just have a greater tolerance for games that adults would (often rightly) consider subpar.

I don’t think it’ll actually be that bad overall for the company if they underperform with this year’s releases. They have people in the millions who will buy their game on launch and populate the space they want to regardless and I honestly think we actually learned that after Sword and Shield. Those games got critically panned on reveal and launch (and still do to this day) but almost topped the charts in sales for all-time Pokémon numbers. The series is just an unstoppable money machine that will churn on unless the company itself decides to stop it.
@Pharrow I think the reason Sword and shield did as well as it did also because it was the first pokemon game since XD Gale of Darkness that could actually be played on the big screen that wasnt just another pokemon Stadium or battle revolution and had actual meat to the game like XD Gale of Darkness did. people didnt care if the game looked like an N64 Title in certain areas, they just wanted to play a main line game on their big TVs

Personally, I'm waiting for Generation 10 to see if I'll actually fall off this series. I give the Legends games a pass as yes, they're 'main series' games. But they seem to lack quite a few key features from main generational games. Ex. Held items, abilities, breeding, PvP battling, etc.
Z-A is going to be a sequel to X/Y so I fully believe they will have them. Just the fact that they have Megas is proof that there will be held items and abilities.
Nobody complains about mandatory EXP Share anymore. I literally can't play any of the new games the way I'd like 'cause of this. X/Y are the only ones I can enjoy, imagine that. You are so right about the feeling in general, great take !
Because that's common for RPGs nowadays and eliminates needless grinding. Pokémon just needs to adjust NPC team levels to match with the mandatory EXP Share.
I just played Ultra Sun for the first time recently and was really happy to see that you could still turn it off. The way people talked about the EXP Share, I assumed Gen 6 was the only one with the option to disable it. Gen 7 gets a couple points from me.
@@SonicTheCutehog No. If this series refuses to add a hard mode, turning off the EXP share is the closest thing to that. There is ZERO consumer benefit to taking that option away. Gamefreak might as well have said "we don't care if you want a bigger challenge, turn your brain off and play the game our way".
If there was going to have an exclusive pokemon game for Switch 2 this year alongside Z-A, it might as well be a spin-off. I did research and it show that they usually release spin-offs in the first year of a new console, like with Pokemon Dash for DS, Rumble Blat for 3DS and Pokken DX for Switch.

This game HAS TO BE GOOD, it really needs to be, Im not asking to be the best pokemon game of all time, I just want this game to be in the same level of greatness of PLA and has as little as performance problem as in that game compared to Scarlet and Violet. I hope the extra time they given to the game will really pay off.
@SegaMario it took at least 2 years to get any gameplay on Tears of the kingdom. We didn’t even know the name either until 2021 but I feel like this has to be some crazy stuff if the Pokémon company out of all of them is saying nothing
I don't say this to put down your points. I very much agree with you, Soul, but I'm gonna be a pessimist and say that it's gonna take more than Z-A being bad to be the last straw for enough people that Game Freak suddenly decides to stop screwing around and do a better job. Gen X being as bad or worse than Gen IX may at least start a big enough fire to cause a good enough sized exodus that it gets attention, but Legends Z-A being a "sort of" side game is gonna be the excuse all the usual suspects use to excuse whatever doesn't meet the players' expectations. I'm not even sure Gen X being bad would finally shake them into getting it together. Money seems to be the only language they understand at this point. We can't just blame the devs. The fans have become an equally large part of the problem. People defended Sword and Shield. Sword and Shield, the game that literally said: Screw the customer. We're gonna charge you more AND give you less game content while taking half of your mons away. Notice how even with Scarlet and Violet's technical issues, they were VERY careful to make sure the game at least had the usual "postgame" content XY and Sun and Moon had via the ruinous treasures being available as well as the mini tournament arc after Area Zero without needing their DLC to come in and save the day. Even the dex selection feels better. SV's returnee selection actually feels like someone sat down and put effort into it. SwSh's feel like someone came to work hungover and just threw darts at a wall. That's an issue in and of itself.
With a game like Pokèmon Masters EX, if they ever kill it off, they should just cut the servers for online play. Make it a simple free to play game with all of the playable content like event missions and limited time stuff unlocked and possible to play at any time while also being able to just collect currency for rolling for characters just by either logging in or doing a challenge mode
Let them do a repeat of history. I cannot wait for ... huh... "pokemon XX" and "pokemon XY"'s teaser and release date a mere month after the release of ZA, done by a small company that will definitely not be pressured by GF into releasing garbage at the end, and still on the Switch.
Pokemon is never a last straw for me to be honest. I play pokemon for one reason. Pokemon battles and the stories it tells. That's about it. I never cared about the graphics, the UI design and Nat Dex cut. The only quality I care about is the battles and the thrill of the competition. Everything else is just extra bells and whistles to me. I'm not the only who thinks this way. Everyone who competes in VGC and Smogon thinks this way which is a great majority of the player base than the returning players and the casuals who expect everything to be top notch or they'll switch to Palworld.
But just because your standards are lower than the average isn't indicative of what a game should in all seriousness bring if they care about the community also I see nothing but complaints from a lot of the people who compete about the state of the game
And I'm not even trying to tear this comment down but the players who play competitively are literally not at all even close to the majority of people who play
@@abeltherosegod its alarming how poor the standards for pokemon are that they only seem to care for a minor part of it and neglect every other aspect but treat it like the one excuses the whole, causing everyone else to suffer. i guess i was like that to some extent, i only cared for collecting until the dex cut happened and all i was left with was a game so simple a goldfish could beat it, and everything else just seemed so... underwhelming. But deep down i kinda knew that I didn't like a lot of it, as i always felt the game started after the credits, showing the story was noting more than an obstacle not engaging enough for me to care what happened, even though i paid attention. But i thought that was the point, just a glorified tutorial for the game, but then i saw that it was a rather poor tutorial as it just revealed so many other flaws that i had been ignoring up to that point when the dex finally got cut. a game having one good quality does not excuse the rest of the game lacking in quality. I'm sure others like me value other parts more than me and whether or not one person gets what they want doesnt mean the game is good, because someone else is likely suffering when they didn't need to. Whats bells and whistles to one is bread and butter to another, and vice versa.
I'm gonna drop it here, we experienced Pokemon fatigue, and my optimism for a great game is... not even there. I'm cautiously optimistic. I don't have a bar, I love Pokemon too much, but the fact that I'm NOT gonna preorder ANYTHING, and I'm expecting to wait for a year later to get it second hand, maybe is telling me to move on and go to another monster taming game. But there's nothing with Pokemon "vibe" if that makes sense. Hope it succeeds. I have hope. Just... not too much. 😔
Considering the title, I was rather surprised at there not being a single mention of a certain lawsuit. I’m equally as upset at the company as the next Pokémon fan, but hey. Monster taming has and always will be my jam, and there are plenty of other titles within the genre out there which I vastly prefer at this point. Unless ZA is miraculously a truly stellar game… Pokemon can go take a hike. (As a 90’s kid who has been a fan from the start, it does suck to admit that I’ve fallen out of love with the franchise.)
Nah. Nintendo doesnt need to tread carefully. People are gonna complain about it, but still buy it. There is no escaping it. I've seen it countless times happen before that and if there is anything to go by like Fifa Madden "fans", they do the same thing every year. Like a battered wife syndrome. Its an endless cycle perpetuated by kids and growns up alike. Fans will stop buying games?! No problem. More kids will be eventually spawned in to take that role instead. Parents Credit's Card isnt maxed out, you know?!

@Eeel-6-cd It is an endless cycle, isnt it?! I do have some appreciation for Gen 5 now, that's mainly because pixel art being gone now. Every model looks the same, animates the same. Everything same-ish. Gen 5 at least made the pixel art dynamic.
If there silence is a sign to them not baking the time perfect but rather out of Fear Shame and of course if Legends ZA is likely to be leaning to being Buggy and Broken on a level that Equal to Surpass that of Pokémon Scarlett...and that will be a last straw. Personally ive been looking for a Pokemon Black/White 3/Remaster or OmegaRuby Remaster non Legends Style Personally not preferred.
So, here's another thing- in all other years since I started playing Pokémon (gen 5), they've had an endless train of games going through each year. Sometimes two in a single year. It was a case of pushing quantity so that the masses cared less about quality. Now that they've slowed down and taken a full year off, they have to focus on quality because the quantity just simply isn't there.
In a good way, the franchise has stalled. There's not many new games you can put out because production is higher than in the ds Era. They know they can't keep rushing games out.
Only time we had 2 in the same calendar year is PLA and S/V. Also, 2011 and 2015 didn't have games. But yeah, I do agree, even if we went from yearly to every 18 months, or every 2 years the games would get alot more work put into them. If they're that worried about making money and having Pokémon constantly coming out, they should use some of the absurd amount of money they get coming in a year to do more spin offs, Pokepark 3, a new mystery dungeon, a new stadium or colloseum. Hell, if they wanted to be lazy and save money, hire companies to just remaster those spin offs. Pokepark 1 & 2 remasters, maybe a battle revolution remastered that can connect to BDSP and PLA and has the post gen 4 mons that are in PLA, have an explorers DX made for mystery dungeon. Etc
I so much feel the same way. I bought sword and shield + DLC, enjoyed it despite the problems it had, later bought legends Arceus and enjoyed that too. But when it came to SV, I thought I'd enjoy it, but after I got the game, I felt that early parts of the game were fun quite a good change, but felt my team became too op towards it's end, didn't even feel like starting a second playthrough and ended up skipping the DLC. I found myself forcing myself to play the game just to finish it so I could move on to a different game.

With there being a year of literally nothing except for the announcement of the next entry in what is factually the best modern Pokémon game to date, I don't make the rules, supposedly they know all the rage and memes that spawned from SV's launch and for once are gonna take their time. Good on them, but having at least one trailer a few months ago would've been appreciated. Won't be surprised if it was called off due to a certain leak. I understand the pain everyone's going through, I really do, but be real with yourselves here. The franchise isn't in danger and *NEVER WILL BE,* no matter how many games they rush out. All those merch sales makes so much more money than the game sales anyway, so their pockets are infinite times more lined than empty. One fan leaves, many more take their place. Just like Call of Duty.
If Legends Z-A doesn't come out swinging, I really don't think I'll be playing another pokemon game. There's a lot of other monster tamer games I can have some fun with without shelling out a bunch of money for a undercooked mess.
If they release a game where my first shiny isn't Shinx, we have a problem. I always get at least one random shiny Shinx that I didn't hunt for when a new game releases. And yeah pokemon need to deliver with their next time.
There’s a fine line between passable and playable and the buggy mess sv had for its 1st few weeks after launch was bordering unplayable. They definitely need to take a break with the rapid fire game releases
I've skipped gen 8 and 9 so far, though I've borrowed an 8 cartridge of a friend recently. I'm hoping gen 10 wins me back but otherwise I got to wait on Monster Hunter Stories 3. (Stories 2 was great, go play it)
I dread the switch2 But I am cautiously optimistic about legends ZA. I loved x and y for my own nostalgic reasons. So seeing the region again for the first time in years-
I have my fingers crossed as well. Kalos is my Favorite region next to Sinnoh. I never had a game boy growing up so my first pokemon game outside of the game cubes XD Gale of Darkness, Platinum was my first real pokemon game i played. Then i went to X and Y. Reason i skipped gen 5 was i also didnt have a DS but i did have a 3DS and i found platinum at game stop back in the day but not black or white. and i was absolutely blown away by Gen 6 Visuals and the Mechanics of Mega Evolution. If they do Kalos dirty i may finally hang up my trainer hat and let the new generation of trainers go forth. My time in the pokemon universe will have reached its conclusion.
Already have given up on the new games. Didnt play any switch games cuz i dont think they are worth my money, prefer to spend on other games. Im lucky that i hav all mainline games since gen 3, so im aways playing the pokemon games i like. Im finishing platinum pokedex and battle frontier at the moment.
Two releases are expected. We know of Legends Z-A. But this autumn will mark 3 years since the last gen was launched. I believe they stick to the pattern established in 2013. Gamefreak's A-Team had enough time and have no excuse of lockdowns this cycle.
To be honest, I’m already kind of done with the Pokémon franchise like the last games I’m willing to get would be ZA and gen 10 if those two or a future game doesn’t make me into it again i I’m gone like sure Scarlett and violet introduced some of my favourite Pokémon Tinkaton and iron jugulis and when I will quit would be one generation after but like I can’t deal with this anymore I’m just bored with a franchise which is kind of ironic since compared to most I am a newer fan. My first Pokémon game being ultra moon but like I mainly just bordwith it and if I just quit for it, surely I can go for some oven Nintendo franchises like pikmin or splatoon even more
Even though I'm one of the few people who loves or at the very least tolerates every Pokémon game (Yes, even BDSP to an extent), I'm afraid that GameFreak will mess up Legends ZA and lose the respect of its fans immediately. GameFreak has potential to make a comeback from a trashy game with Legends Arceus after SwSh and BDSP, who's to say they will hopefully do it again this year with ZA after Scarlet and Violet (even though I don't think those games are as bad as everyone makes it out to be).

How about a port of the old pokemon games onto the Switch 2? I believe that could be manageable, and many fans have been dying to play the older games on an updated console.
Personally my last straw was when they pulled dexit. Pure bullshit. Not because i couldn't use older mons but simply because of WHY they did it. Simply out of greed. Modders already proved the reasons they gave were a fucking lie.
I think the last straw for a lot of people would be Gen 10. Sure, ZA IS is a pokémon game, but people A) know it's made by a third-party studio probably 2) is more of a spin-off, even if they call it 'mainline'. People will be lenient in majority. What people won't be lenient about, is the generation following the disaster SV were in term of polish and features (despite story being rather good and having interesting characters. At least to me the DLCs really saved the deal scenaristically-speaking). But I wholly agree they have to tread very carefully... People have their eyes on what they'll do to gen 10. If it looks trash, it's gonna break something inside a lot of players, imo. Personally I actually really loved Sword and Shield, the colors, the characters, the features... Loved the spin where they gave a more believable look to competitions by merging it with sports, stadium... So it had given me hope for the future, ans it's still kinda there. We'll see what gen 10 does... But since it's an important anniversary, if it's trash and they don't go beyond with the number of features like they used to in Pokémon games, I'm really gonna be very sad and disappointed. Wouldn't be quitting but I might give up hope.
The coul release ZA this year and unlock all pokemon on SV via a big update. Switch 2 Scarlet comes with Shiny Marshadow and Switch 2 Violet comes with Shiny Victini. The OG SV simply have the non-shiny versions as raids. Spinoff: Pokemon Conquest remaster
The last games, Legends: Archeus, BDSP and SV were the most atrocious, excuses of a game. The biggest franchise in the world made a literal fetch game, safari simulator, "open world", that everyone praised just because it is different, a remake, so faithful to the original, it became the worst remake of this series because it copied every wrong thing the old games had, disregarding the platinum version which was the fix to the previous games and a literal child's games with bugs that never got fixed. Don't get me started on Sw&Sh. Their inability dates to gen 6 (gen 5 for pokemon design and horrible pixelated graphics imo). Pokemon clearly does not care and the fact that still has shrills is solid proof enough that they wont change for the better. Whoever has miniscule intelligence left to their brainrot game can see that.
Regardless of what happens, Z-A will probably be my last game for a while, since I can't justify buying Switch 2, at least at the moment, but I really hope I can give Pokemon one last good goodbye before I'm gone for a while.

Remasters/Remakes of Colloseum, XD, Pokepark, Pokepark 2, Battle Revolution, Explorers, Gates to infinity, Super, rumble, super rumble, rumble world, ranger, ranger SOA, Ranger GS. Thst itself is 14 games, the GC and Wii games could even be glorified ports, its also 5 spin off types that havent gotten games on rhe switch. Using the stupid amount of money that pokemon makes to hire orher companies to port/remake/remaster the GC, Wii and DS/3DS games, if releasing 2 a year would give you 7 years without even needing to make new content. And im sure more than 90% of pokemon fans would eather get 2 spin offs a year + a main series every other year. Or give make generations last 5 years with 3 sets of mainline games, the new region/gen game, a legends game and a remake of a previous game. Have gen 10 be 2026 - Pokemon North and Pokemon South or sometbing, 2028 - Pokemon Legends Kyurem, 2030 - Pokemon Gleaming Gold and Sparkling Silver. Reuse the engine and some assets from the main gen game to make the remake like pre-switch remakes did to save on production for them. And maybe keep legends on the same engine so its easier to make legends games. Have GF hire enough staff to make a smaller 3rd team that makes cheaper smaller DLC for the games, like a Sinjoh DLC for GGSS, a DLC for legends kyurem that takes us to the early area of B2W2 with a mini plot. Etc

doesn't matter, pokemon fans are too nostalgia blind and loyal to accept the downfall and will do anything in their power to keep the company alive so they dont lose the thing they value more than it deserves. They'll blame the fact its a spinoff and pray for the next mainline, maybe complain about hardware limitations. Pokemon fans are delusional and will cope with any excuse they can use to keep up the narrative they aren't wasting their time with a wasted potential franchise. Perhaps its that wasted potential the players see that makes them so desperate to see it be done that they convince themselves it could be done even though gamefreak will never take the steps to make those dreams a reality. But the fact its there keeps people fixated on this ideal world they want to be real. No one is is going to do it, so who else do we support? Peoples expectations will exceed their reality, which is why disappointment comes so often with pokemon. I for one gave up long ago, i check in to see how they fail to even meet decent standards and how people refuse to move on. I'm just morbidly curious how far can one obsession go and how low is the standard. People are self aware of the problem yet it still goes on as if this is the norm.
For me, they need to get rid of trade evolution permanently and replace with a level up method instead. Also they need to provide a difficulty for future games.
Honestly ill play the story of Z-A and gen 10 but not going to shiny hunt or try battling anymore. The quality of the game are going to be Arceus quality at best or at worst slightly better than SV.

Imagine that with the Switch 2 all the mainline games that were on the Switch would get a performance boost on 2 removing those issue with the games. I'd laugh and that would still spotlight the other issues with the games.
I'll only accept a 1 or 2 year wait cycle between games, IF, we get regular updates on them in the interim. Not like how they announced legends ZA and we got NOTHING, FOR A WHOLE YEAR!!! And waiting until Pokemon Day for the next ZA announcement is just going to prove how much of a waste last year was. That is beyond unacceptable. Give us the goods regularly while taking time with games, or go back to the yearly release cycle like it's always been And to anyone who says that it's just going to lead to a rushed or unpolished game, WAKE UP TO REALITY!! They will NEVER, give us a perfect game at this point no matter how many months or years they take. I almost never admitted to myself that I’m having a fallout with Pokemon because I have always loved it since Red and Blue. It only sank in when 2022 ended without me realizing that the DLC for SV was released. I never bought it to this date.
The dlc destroys the game, I got it and can't play for more than 10 minutes without crashes, or the picnic not loading, or some other bugs occuring. BuT hey ThErEs A sHiNy EvErY tImE yOu TuRn.
My guy, BDSP sucked because they were based on DP, which were already awful games by today's standards, so they retained much of their glaring flaws. BW, however, were good games overall, so doing a "faithful" remake of those would mean retaining most of the things that the originals had, so the game would probably end up being the originals but with later generation moves, the Fairy type, chibi overworld models, and a couple of other features, like catchable Legendaries from Kanto to Sinnoh since they're not gonna include Pokémon from Kalos to Paldea/Gen 10's Region. Why does nobody ever think about that? I would much prefer an ORAS-style remake that reimagines Unova, allowing some Pokémon from Kalos to Paldea/Gen 10's Region to be found and caught, and allowing Mega Evolution or whatever Generation 10's battle gimmick may be. But let's be real: We all would rather Mega Evolution because that's factually the most beloved battle gimmick of them all. Just know that if ILCA is in charge of it, it can't *POSSIBLY* be any worse than BDSP, because again, BW were already great games, whereas DP were not, so ILCA have no choice but to recreate BW's greatness.
Pokemon's trashy quality while playing actually good monster collectors like Yo-Kai Watch has motivated me to learn programming and sprite art so I can make my own monster collector RPG. NOT playing Pokemon has given me more time to improve my skills and learn from the skills of others.

legend za will release on nintendo switch 1, so don't expect next gen graphics polish ? sure but no 4k, or at least don't expect much more than better framerate on switch 2 with backwards compatibility
I just found the channel via this video. I genuinely would like to see a Pokemon game where you have to deal with running a Daycare Center, there is so much they could do with that, especially if the start of the game gives you a personality test similar to what the Mystery Dungeons games, to pair you with a nonstandard Pokemon starter, like what you see with some NPCs in the mainline games, and part of the early game could center around just getting the facility up to code within a set in-game time limit. While the rest of the game is continuing to fix up the facility and give it some expansions while also looking after Pokemon that are put in your care by NPCs and the players of other Pokemon. Maybe part of starting the game could have you even deciding what modern region the facility is in, and there could even be a feature where you can transfer your stored Pokemon to both get looked at while in the Daycare, there could even be little things you could do with your partner Pokemon and the Pokemon in your care to make the facility better while also just improving aspects of the Pokemon in your care, more than just their levels; and, of course, you could also find yourself looking after random eggs which you have to identify as belonging to certain Pokemon parents, eventually, and thus decide who the egg goes to if the parents belong to two different parties.
I’m only 3 minutes into the video so I might be missing something, but for the "last straw" thing, I get it, I even told myself after the release of sword and shield that if the next pokémon game was bad, I’d quit trying to defend Game Freak’s decisions but then the announce of the dlc’s got me super hyped, then realised the announcement had more hype than the dlc’s themselves, but then PLA got out and I LOVED it (wdym I didn’t mention diamond and pearl’s remakes ? PLA is the diamond and pearl remake and no, I’m not in denial ! Lol) and the thing is, the more I think about it, the more I think they’ll never actually lose their fanbase. For example, I remember starting to get on social medias when black and white came out and it seemed to me like everyone hated these games and today, they’re considered some of the best Pokémon games ever. Another example, sword and shield as well as scarlet and violet are considered some of the worst games ever and yet they’re just behind red and blue as the most sold pokémon games ever. Which probably means at some point, these games will have a large fanbase on social medias. So, I agree that it’s not ethical if Game Freak gives us unfinished games, but let’s face it, they know what they’re doing and they’re confident in the fact that their fanbase will never die... (and they might be right about it ?)
I’ve been waiting for a game to expand on Kalos since I finished Pokemon Y back in 2013. I was really thinking of stopping after SV weren’t all that good, but they managed to hook me for one more go with the one thing I’ve always wanted. If this isn’t good I’m not buying the next game.

The wild part is that SV was my favorite of all time - I loved the endgame loop with raids, the legendary raid releases, the Pokemon training, etc. I need that, but polished. Please, Gamefreak.
Hot Take: I think the Unova remakes should have separate overworlds & battle styles. White/ White 2 should go for BDSP's more Nostalgia driven Chibi Style, while keeping the style of White & 2 closer to Scarlet/ Violet. Black/ Black 2 should instead lean more towards the Scarlet/ Violet camera angle, white still looking like Black & White from DS, no chibis in Black & Black 2. White & White 2's OST, would have to be cleaned up DS Sounds, while Black & Black 2 have a more modernized Scarlet/ Violet-like OST. Opelucid City is the inspiration for my take because it could literally show Time's Dividing Line. The remakes can be called Classic White & Modern Black. In White's Versions, battles also LOOK like 3D Black & White Battles, while Black's Battles are the seamless transition ones like in Scarlet/ Violet & Legends Arceus. The trailer could also initially start off with the Chibi Style to make everyone THINK these are 1-1 remakes, then when Opelucid City is reached, you see the Black Version WITH White Version's showing that the two games have different looks, but, they will play the exact same. So, any battle mechanics that show up in Modern Black, will also be in Classic White. However, because of the alternate art styles, people who want to buy both games, can enjoy them both as one looks classic, the other is modern. The *Truth* is there is no *Ideal* Black/ White remake, but, I wanted to see what you think, Soul.

As long as the gameplay is decent and fun and has a decent story I’ll be fine with ZA my main interests is gen 10 as I feel that game will be what really shows off Pokémon on the new consoles sense they don’t have to worry much with the old switch.
I do think pokemon generation 10 will be releasing this year considering the 3 year development cycle it's gonna be legends arceus and generation 9 but I do really hope that it's way better.

I have every paid Switch Pokémon Spin-Off game except for the Detective Pikachu sequel and it's sad to say they're better games than the mainline ones. In fact, New Pokémon Snap has much more exploration rewards than Scarlet and Violet, which is wild, considering Snap is on rails and SV is an open world. I hope they keep up with those good quality Spin-Offs so the mainline games get more development time. They can even make plushies or TCG sets out of those Spin-offs (I mean, they did a Pokémon GO TCG set and it was one of the coolest I've seen).
While I do agree with most of what's being said, given that 2026 is going to be the 30th anniversary of Pokémon, I'm anticipating the release of gen 10, (just like we had gen 7 for the 20th anniversary). Given that this potential game is going to be a big deal, and that it'll most likely be the first release of a mainline pkemon game on the Switch 2, this is, imo, the game to look out for the most, cuz if they can't bother making the game look as good and run as best as it possibly can when it's such a big deal, then all hope should be considered lost at that point. Legends ZA on the other hand is a less ambitious title with way less content or hype, so I'm not going to expect much, however it should at the very least do the bare minimum unlike SCVI or Legends Arceus in terms of how it look and runs
Normally, I will always by the physical copy of a game series I am into, and that remained true for Sword and Shield. However... when Scarlet and Violet came out, I had started to deflate when it came to Pokemon, and I ended up getting it from the eShop instead, which says a lot about my confidence in the series. I am likely to get Legends ZA. But I too am watching very carefully when it comes to Gen10. If Legend of Zelda can take 6 or 7 years to make a masterpiece, Pokemon can do it, too. I don't want to be drowned in low-grade Pokemon games, I want to play something amazing. Gen10 could make or break the main series for me.

That is why I would rather have Pokémon be what Pokémon used to be, no matter how Japanese the series is. I can take 2D anime graphics and being top-down for the sake of visual appeal, and extra gameplay content. That is how Mew came to be. The Generations 1-2 art style is iconic. The Generations 3-4 art style is the best. Any of those two art styles are fine for people to recognize. The Japanese regions are fun, and deserve improvements too. I can take remakes and even ports. I can handle Japanese names and translations being used in a similar Ralf and Clark from SNK manner. Never have too many of the stuff being made in one year. Quality over quantity matters.
I agree that is the last straw for a lot of people, myself included. GF and TPC need to get this right otherwise they are going to burn through the last of people's goodwill for the franchise and company. Fingers crossed that PLZA is going to be the only mainline game for 2025.

It'll be the last straw for a number of grown fans, certainly. Kids, on the other hand, will probably enjoy it. Not because they don't necessarily know the difference between good and bad games; they just have a greater tolerance for games that adults would (often rightly) consider subpar.
If ZA is bad or releases in a buggy state that really will be the last straw for me.

I don’t think it’ll actually be that bad overall for the company if they underperform with this year’s releases. They have people in the millions who will buy their game on launch and populate the space they want to regardless and I honestly think we actually learned that after Sword and Shield. Those games got critically panned on reveal and launch (and still do to this day) but almost topped the charts in sales for all-time Pokémon numbers. The series is just an unstoppable money machine that will churn on unless the company itself decides to stop it.

@Pharrow I think the reason Sword and shield did as well as it did also because it was the first pokemon game since XD Gale of Darkness that could actually be played on the big screen that wasnt just another pokemon Stadium or battle revolution and had actual meat to the game like XD Gale of Darkness did. people didnt care if the game looked like an N64 Title in certain areas, they just wanted to play a main line game on their big TVs

Personally, I'm waiting for Generation 10 to see if I'll actually fall off this series.
I give the Legends games a pass as yes, they're 'main series' games. But they seem to lack quite a few key features from main generational games. Ex. Held items, abilities, breeding, PvP battling, etc.
Z-A is going to be a sequel to X/Y so I fully believe they will have them.
Just the fact that they have Megas is proof that there will be held items and abilities.
As it's called legends it's going to be on the past so somewhat a prequel.

Because that's common for RPGs nowadays and eliminates needless grinding. Pokémon just needs to adjust NPC team levels to match with the mandatory EXP Share.

I just played Ultra Sun for the first time recently and was really happy to see that you could still turn it off.
The way people talked about the EXP Share, I assumed Gen 6 was the only one with the option to disable it. Gen 7 gets a couple points from me.

Gamefreak might as well have said "we don't care if you want a bigger challenge, turn your brain off and play the game our way".

If there was going to have an exclusive pokemon game for Switch 2 this year alongside Z-A, it might as well be a spin-off. I did research and it show that they usually release spin-offs in the first year of a new console, like with Pokemon Dash for DS, Rumble Blat for 3DS and Pokken DX for Switch.
So our chances for a spinoff is looking GOOD is what I’m hearing 🗣️🗣️💯

This game HAS TO BE GOOD, it really needs to be, Im not asking to be the best pokemon game of all time, I just want this game to be in the same level of greatness of PLA and has as little as performance problem as in that game compared to Scarlet and Violet. I hope the extra time they given to the game will really pay off.

I don't say this to put down your points. I very much agree with you, Soul, but I'm gonna be a pessimist and say that it's gonna take more than Z-A being bad to be the last straw for enough people that Game Freak suddenly decides to stop screwing around and do a better job. Gen X being as bad or worse than Gen IX may at least start a big enough fire to cause a good enough sized exodus that it gets attention, but Legends Z-A being a "sort of" side game is gonna be the excuse all the usual suspects use to excuse whatever doesn't meet the players' expectations. I'm not even sure Gen X being bad would finally shake them into getting it together. Money seems to be the only language they understand at this point.
We can't just blame the devs. The fans have become an equally large part of the problem. People defended Sword and Shield. Sword and Shield, the game that literally said: Screw the customer. We're gonna charge you more AND give you less game content while taking half of your mons away. Notice how even with Scarlet and Violet's technical issues, they were VERY careful to make sure the game at least had the usual "postgame" content XY and Sun and Moon had via the ruinous treasures being available as well as the mini tournament arc after Area Zero without needing their DLC to come in and save the day. Even the dex selection feels better. SV's returnee selection actually feels like someone sat down and put effort into it. SwSh's feel like someone came to work hungover and just threw darts at a wall. That's an issue in and of itself.
With a game like Pokèmon Masters EX, if they ever kill it off, they should just cut the servers for online play. Make it a simple free to play game with all of the playable content like event missions and limited time stuff unlocked and possible to play at any time while also being able to just collect currency for rolling for characters just by either logging in or doing a challenge mode
Let them do a repeat of history. I cannot wait for ... huh... "pokemon XX" and "pokemon XY"'s teaser and release date a mere month after the release of ZA, done by a small company that will definitely not be pressured by GF into releasing garbage at the end, and still on the Switch.

Pokemon is never a last straw for me to be honest. I play pokemon for one reason. Pokemon battles and the stories it tells. That's about it. I never cared about the graphics, the UI design and Nat Dex cut. The only quality I care about is the battles and the thrill of the competition. Everything else is just extra bells and whistles to me. I'm not the only who thinks this way. Everyone who competes in VGC and Smogon thinks this way which is a great majority of the player base than the returning players and the casuals who expect everything to be top notch or they'll switch to Palworld.

i guess i was like that to some extent, i only cared for collecting until the dex cut happened and all i was left with was a game so simple a goldfish could beat it, and everything else just seemed so... underwhelming.
But deep down i kinda knew that I didn't like a lot of it, as i always felt the game started after the credits, showing the story was noting more than an obstacle not engaging enough for me to care what happened, even though i paid attention. But i thought that was the point, just a glorified tutorial for the game, but then i saw that it was a rather poor tutorial as it just revealed so many other flaws that i had been ignoring up to that point when the dex finally got cut.
a game having one good quality does not excuse the rest of the game lacking in quality. I'm sure others like me value other parts more than me and whether or not one person gets what they want doesnt mean the game is good, because someone else is likely suffering when they didn't need to. Whats bells and whistles to one is bread and butter to another, and vice versa.
I'm gonna drop it here, we experienced Pokemon fatigue, and my optimism for a great game is... not even there.
I'm cautiously optimistic. I don't have a bar, I love Pokemon too much, but the fact that I'm NOT gonna preorder ANYTHING, and I'm expecting to wait for a year later to get it second hand, maybe is telling me to move on and go to another monster taming game. But there's nothing with Pokemon "vibe" if that makes sense.

Considering the title, I was rather surprised at there not being a single mention of a certain lawsuit. I’m equally as upset at the company as the next Pokémon fan, but hey.
Monster taming has and always will be my jam, and there are plenty of other titles within the genre out there which I vastly prefer at this point. Unless ZA is miraculously a truly stellar game… Pokemon can go take a hike. (As a 90’s kid who has been a fan from the start, it does suck to admit that I’ve fallen out of love with the franchise.)

If there silence is a sign to them not baking the time perfect but rather out of Fear Shame and of course if Legends ZA is likely to be leaning to being Buggy and Broken on a level that Equal to Surpass that of Pokémon Scarlett...and that will be a last straw. Personally ive been looking for a Pokemon Black/White 3/Remaster or OmegaRuby Remaster non Legends Style Personally not preferred.

The glitches are very much blown out
So, here's another thing- in all other years since I started playing Pokémon (gen 5), they've had an endless train of games going through each year. Sometimes two in a single year. It was a case of pushing quantity so that the masses cared less about quality. Now that they've slowed down and taken a full year off, they have to focus on quality because the quantity just simply isn't there.
In a good way, the franchise has stalled. There's not many new games you can put out because production is higher than in the ds Era. They know they can't keep rushing games out.
Only time we had 2 in the same calendar year is PLA and S/V.
Also, 2011 and 2015 didn't have games.
But yeah, I do agree, even if we went from yearly to every 18 months, or every 2 years the games would get alot more work put into them.
If they're that worried about making money and having Pokémon constantly coming out, they should use some of the absurd amount of money they get coming in a year to do more spin offs, Pokepark 3, a new mystery dungeon, a new stadium or colloseum. Hell, if they wanted to be lazy and save money, hire companies to just remaster those spin offs. Pokepark 1 & 2 remasters, maybe a battle revolution remastered that can connect to BDSP and PLA and has the post gen 4 mons that are in PLA, have an explorers DX made for mystery dungeon. Etc
I so much feel the same way. I bought sword and shield + DLC, enjoyed it despite the problems it had, later bought legends Arceus and enjoyed that too. But when it came to SV, I thought I'd enjoy it, but after I got the game, I felt that early parts of the game were fun quite a good change, but felt my team became too op towards it's end, didn't even feel like starting a second playthrough and ended up skipping the DLC. I found myself forcing myself to play the game just to finish it so I could move on to a different game.

Pokémon ain't gotta be careful with Jack Schitt, broseph. They're the biggest franchise in the *WORLD.* No botched launch is gonna do even a single dent in their finances. With there being a year of literally nothing except for the announcement of the next entry in what is factually the best modern Pokémon game to date, I don't make the rules, supposedly they know all the rage and memes that spawned from SV's launch and for once are gonna take their time. Good on them, but having at least one trailer a few months ago would've been appreciated. Won't be surprised if it was called off due to a certain leak.
I understand the pain everyone's going through, I really do, but be real with yourselves here. The franchise isn't in danger and *NEVER WILL BE,* no matter how many games they rush out. All those merch sales makes so much more money than the game sales anyway, so their pockets are infinite times more lined than empty. One fan leaves, many more take their place. Just like Call of Duty.

If Legends Z-A doesn't come out swinging, I really don't think I'll be playing another pokemon game. There's a lot of other monster tamer games I can have some fun with without shelling out a bunch of money for a undercooked mess.
If they release a game where my first shiny isn't Shinx, we have a problem. I always get at least one random shiny Shinx that I didn't hunt for when a new game releases. And yeah pokemon need to deliver with their next time.
There’s a fine line between passable and playable and the buggy mess sv had for its 1st few weeks after launch was bordering unplayable. They definitely need to take a break with the rapid fire game releases
I've skipped gen 8 and 9 so far, though I've borrowed an 8 cartridge of a friend recently.

I have my fingers crossed as well. Kalos is my Favorite region next to Sinnoh. I never had a game boy growing up so my first pokemon game outside of the game cubes XD Gale of Darkness, Platinum was my first real pokemon game i played. Then i went to X and Y. Reason i skipped gen 5 was i also didnt have a DS but i did have a 3DS and i found platinum at game stop back in the day but not black or white. and i was absolutely blown away by Gen 6 Visuals and the Mechanics of Mega Evolution. If they do Kalos dirty i may finally hang up my trainer hat and let the new generation of trainers go forth. My time in the pokemon universe will have reached its conclusion.
Already have given up on the new games. Didnt play any switch games cuz i dont think they are worth my money, prefer to spend on other games.

Two releases are expected. We know of Legends Z-A. But this autumn will mark 3 years since the last gen was launched. I believe they stick to the pattern established in 2013. Gamefreak's A-Team had enough time and have no excuse of lockdowns this cycle.

To be honest, I’m already kind of done with the Pokémon franchise like the last games I’m willing to get would be ZA and gen 10 if those two or a future game doesn’t make me into it again i I’m gone like sure Scarlett and violet introduced some of my favourite Pokémon Tinkaton and iron jugulis and when I will quit would be one generation after but like I can’t deal with this anymore I’m just bored with a franchise which is kind of ironic since compared to most I am a newer fan. My first Pokémon game being ultra moon but like I mainly just bordwith it and if I just quit for it, surely I can go for some oven Nintendo franchises like pikmin or splatoon even more

Even though I'm one of the few people who loves or at the very least tolerates every Pokémon game (Yes, even BDSP to an extent), I'm afraid that GameFreak will mess up Legends ZA and lose the respect of its fans immediately.
GameFreak has potential to make a comeback from a trashy game with Legends Arceus after SwSh and BDSP, who's to say they will hopefully do it again this year with ZA after Scarlet and Violet (even though I don't think those games are as bad as everyone makes it out to be).

How about a port of the old pokemon games onto the Switch 2? I believe that could be manageable, and many fans have been dying to play the older games on an updated console.
Personally my last straw was when they pulled dexit. Pure bullshit. Not because i couldn't use older mons but simply because of WHY they did it. Simply out of greed. Modders already proved the reasons they gave were a fucking lie.

What people won't be lenient about, is the generation following the disaster SV were in term of polish and features (despite story being rather good and having interesting characters. At least to me the DLCs really saved the deal scenaristically-speaking).
But I wholly agree they have to tread very carefully... People have their eyes on what they'll do to gen 10. If it looks trash, it's gonna break something inside a lot of players, imo.
Personally I actually really loved Sword and Shield, the colors, the characters, the features... Loved the spin where they gave a more believable look to competitions by merging it with sports, stadium... So it had given me hope for the future, ans it's still kinda there.
We'll see what gen 10 does... But since it's an important anniversary, if it's trash and they don't go beyond with the number of features like they used to in Pokémon games, I'm really gonna be very sad and disappointed. Wouldn't be quitting but I might give up hope.

The coul release ZA this year and unlock all pokemon on SV via a big update. Switch 2 Scarlet comes with Shiny Marshadow and Switch 2 Violet comes with Shiny Victini. The OG SV simply have the non-shiny versions as raids.
Spinoff: Pokemon Conquest remaster
The last games, Legends: Archeus, BDSP and SV were the most atrocious, excuses of a game. The biggest franchise in the world made a literal fetch game, safari simulator, "open world", that everyone praised just because it is different, a remake, so faithful to the original, it became the worst remake of this series because it copied every wrong thing the old games had, disregarding the platinum version which was the fix to the previous games and a literal child's games with bugs that never got fixed. Don't get me started on Sw&Sh. Their inability dates to gen 6 (gen 5 for pokemon design and horrible pixelated graphics imo).
Pokemon clearly does not care and the fact that still has shrills is solid proof enough that they wont change for the better. Whoever has miniscule intelligence left to their brainrot game can see that.
Regardless of what happens, Z-A will probably be my last game for a while, since I can't justify buying Switch 2, at least at the moment, but I really hope I can give Pokemon one last good goodbye before I'm gone for a while.

Remasters/Remakes of Colloseum, XD, Pokepark, Pokepark 2, Battle Revolution, Explorers, Gates to infinity, Super, rumble, super rumble, rumble world, ranger, ranger SOA, Ranger GS.
Thst itself is 14 games, the GC and Wii games could even be glorified ports, its also 5 spin off types that havent gotten games on rhe switch. Using the stupid amount of money that pokemon makes to hire orher companies to port/remake/remaster the GC, Wii and DS/3DS games, if releasing 2 a year would give you 7 years without even needing to make new content. And im sure more than 90% of pokemon fans would eather get 2 spin offs a year + a main series every other year.
Or give make generations last 5 years with 3 sets of mainline games, the new region/gen game, a legends game and a remake of a previous game. Have gen 10 be 2026 - Pokemon North and Pokemon South or sometbing, 2028 - Pokemon Legends Kyurem, 2030 - Pokemon Gleaming Gold and Sparkling Silver.
Reuse the engine and some assets from the main gen game to make the remake like pre-switch remakes did to save on production for them. And maybe keep legends on the same engine so its easier to make legends games. Have GF hire enough staff to make a smaller 3rd team that makes cheaper smaller DLC for the games, like a Sinjoh DLC for GGSS, a DLC for legends kyurem that takes us to the early area of B2W2 with a mini plot. Etc
I just utterly PRAY Legends ZA is an amazing game man, and i hope the extra year off they had was enough, praying also for a November 2025 release date and Generation 10 being DECEMBER 2026 for it to pair with Pokemon's 30th anniversary and i hope Generation 10 is ALSO good

doesn't matter, pokemon fans are too nostalgia blind and loyal to accept the downfall and will do anything in their power to keep the company alive so they dont lose the thing they value more than it deserves. They'll blame the fact its a spinoff and pray for the next mainline, maybe complain about hardware limitations. Pokemon fans are delusional and will cope with any excuse they can use to keep up the narrative they aren't wasting their time with a wasted potential franchise. Perhaps its that wasted potential the players see that makes them so desperate to see it be done that they convince themselves it could be done even though gamefreak will never take the steps to make those dreams a reality. But the fact its there keeps people fixated on this ideal world they want to be real. No one is is going to do it, so who else do we support? Peoples expectations will exceed their reality, which is why disappointment comes so often with pokemon.
I for one gave up long ago, i check in to see how they fail to even meet decent standards and how people refuse to move on. I'm just morbidly curious how far can one obsession go and how low is the standard. People are self aware of the problem yet it still goes on as if this is the norm.

I almost never admitted to myself that I’m having a fallout with Pokemon because I have always loved it since Red and Blue. It only sank in when 2022 ended without me realizing that the DLC for SV was released. I never bought it to this date.
The dlc destroys the game, I got it and can't play for more than 10 minutes without crashes, or the picnic not loading, or some other bugs occuring. BuT hey ThErEs A sHiNy EvErY tImE yOu TuRn.

My guy, BDSP sucked because they were based on DP, which were already awful games by today's standards, so they retained much of their glaring flaws.
BW, however, were good games overall, so doing a "faithful" remake of those would mean retaining most of the things that the originals had, so the game would probably end up being the originals but with later generation moves, the Fairy type, chibi overworld models, and a couple of other features, like catchable Legendaries from Kanto to Sinnoh since they're not gonna include Pokémon from Kalos to Paldea/Gen 10's Region.
Why does nobody ever think about that?
I would much prefer an ORAS-style remake that reimagines Unova, allowing some Pokémon from Kalos to Paldea/Gen 10's Region to be found and caught, and allowing Mega Evolution or whatever Generation 10's battle gimmick may be. But let's be real: We all would rather Mega Evolution because that's factually the most beloved battle gimmick of them all.
Just know that if ILCA is in charge of it, it can't *POSSIBLY* be any worse than BDSP, because again, BW were already great games, whereas DP were not, so ILCA have no choice but to recreate BW's greatness.
Pokemon's trashy quality while playing actually good monster collectors like Yo-Kai Watch has motivated me to learn programming and sprite art so I can make my own monster collector RPG. NOT playing Pokemon has given me more time to improve my skills and learn from the skills of others.

I genuinely would like to see a Pokemon game where you have to deal with running a Daycare Center, there is so much they could do with that, especially if the start of the game gives you a personality test similar to what the Mystery Dungeons games, to pair you with a nonstandard Pokemon starter, like what you see with some NPCs in the mainline games, and part of the early game could center around just getting the facility up to code within a set in-game time limit.
While the rest of the game is continuing to fix up the facility and give it some expansions while also looking after Pokemon that are put in your care by NPCs and the players of other Pokemon. Maybe part of starting the game could have you even deciding what modern region the facility is in, and there could even be a feature where you can transfer your stored Pokemon to both get looked at while in the Daycare, there could even be little things you could do with your partner Pokemon and the Pokemon in your care to make the facility better while also just improving aspects of the Pokemon in your care, more than just their levels; and, of course, you could also find yourself looking after random eggs which you have to identify as belonging to certain Pokemon parents, eventually, and thus decide who the egg goes to if the parents belong to two different parties.

I’m only 3 minutes into the video so I might be missing something, but for the "last straw" thing, I get it, I even told myself after the release of sword and shield that if the next pokémon game was bad, I’d quit trying to defend Game Freak’s decisions but then the announce of the dlc’s got me super hyped, then realised the announcement had more hype than the dlc’s themselves, but then PLA got out and I LOVED it (wdym I didn’t mention diamond and pearl’s remakes ? PLA is the diamond and pearl remake and no, I’m not in denial ! Lol) and the thing is, the more I think about it, the more I think they’ll never actually lose their fanbase. For example, I remember starting to get on social medias when black and white came out and it seemed to me like everyone hated these games and today, they’re considered some of the best Pokémon games ever. Another example, sword and shield as well as scarlet and violet are considered some of the worst games ever and yet they’re just behind red and blue as the most sold pokémon games ever. Which probably means at some point, these games will have a large fanbase on social medias. So, I agree that it’s not ethical if Game Freak gives us unfinished games, but let’s face it, they know what they’re doing and they’re confident in the fact that their fanbase will never die... (and they might be right about it ?)
I’ve been waiting for a game to expand on Kalos since I finished Pokemon Y back in 2013. I was really thinking of stopping after SV weren’t all that good, but they managed to hook me for one more go with the one thing I’ve always wanted. If this isn’t good I’m not buying the next game.

The wild part is that SV was my favorite of all time - I loved the endgame loop with raids, the legendary raid releases, the Pokemon training, etc.

Hot Take: I think the Unova remakes should have separate overworlds & battle styles. White/ White 2 should go for BDSP's more Nostalgia driven Chibi Style, while keeping the style of White & 2 closer to Scarlet/ Violet. Black/ Black 2 should instead lean more towards the Scarlet/ Violet camera angle, white still looking like Black & White from DS, no chibis in Black & Black 2.
White & White 2's OST, would have to be cleaned up DS Sounds, while Black & Black 2 have a more modernized Scarlet/ Violet-like OST.
Opelucid City is the inspiration for my take because it could literally show Time's Dividing Line. The remakes can be called Classic White & Modern Black.
In White's Versions, battles also LOOK like 3D Black & White Battles, while Black's Battles are the seamless transition ones like in Scarlet/ Violet & Legends Arceus.
The trailer could also initially start off with the Chibi Style to make everyone THINK these are 1-1 remakes, then when Opelucid City is reached, you see the Black Version WITH White Version's showing that the two games have different looks, but, they will play the exact same. So, any battle mechanics that show up in Modern Black, will also be in Classic White. However, because of the alternate art styles, people who want to buy both games, can enjoy them both as one looks classic, the other is modern. The *Truth* is there is no *Ideal* Black/ White remake, but, I wanted to see what you think, Soul.

As long as the gameplay is decent and fun and has a decent story I’ll be fine with ZA my main interests is gen 10 as I feel that game will be what really shows off Pokémon on the new consoles sense they don’t have to worry much with the old switch.
I do think pokemon generation 10 will be releasing this year considering the 3 year development cycle it's gonna be legends arceus and generation 9 but I do really hope that it's way better.

I have every paid Switch Pokémon Spin-Off game except for the Detective Pikachu sequel and it's sad to say they're better games than the mainline ones. In fact, New Pokémon Snap has much more exploration rewards than Scarlet and Violet, which is wild, considering Snap is on rails and SV is an open world.
I hope they keep up with those good quality Spin-Offs so the mainline games get more development time. They can even make plushies or TCG sets out of those Spin-offs (I mean, they did a Pokémon GO TCG set and it was one of the coolest I've seen).
While I do agree with most of what's being said, given that 2026 is going to be the 30th anniversary of Pokémon, I'm anticipating the release of gen 10, (just like we had gen 7 for the 20th anniversary). Given that this potential game is going to be a big deal, and that it'll most likely be the first release of a mainline pkemon game on the Switch 2, this is, imo, the game to look out for the most, cuz if they can't bother making the game look as good and run as best as it possibly can when it's such a big deal, then all hope should be considered lost at that point. Legends ZA on the other hand is a less ambitious title with way less content or hype, so I'm not going to expect much, however it should at the very least do the bare minimum unlike SCVI or Legends Arceus in terms of how it look and runs

Normally, I will always by the physical copy of a game series I am into, and that remained true for Sword and Shield.
However... when Scarlet and Violet came out, I had started to deflate when it came to Pokemon, and I ended up getting it from the eShop instead, which says a lot about my confidence in the series.
I am likely to get Legends ZA. But I too am watching very carefully when it comes to Gen10.
If Legend of Zelda can take 6 or 7 years to make a masterpiece, Pokemon can do it, too.
I don't want to be drowned in low-grade Pokemon games, I want to play something amazing.
Gen10 could make or break the main series for me.

That is why I would rather have Pokémon be what Pokémon used to be, no matter how Japanese the series is. I can take 2D anime graphics and being top-down for the sake of visual appeal, and extra gameplay content. That is how Mew came to be. The Generations 1-2 art style is iconic. The Generations 3-4 art style is the best. Any of those two art styles are fine for people to recognize. The Japanese regions are fun, and deserve improvements too. I can take remakes and even ports. I can handle Japanese names and translations being used in a similar Ralf and Clark from SNK manner. Never have too many of the stuff being made in one year. Quality over quantity matters.
