I appreciate the work that goes into each bike and have historically particularly enjoyed the behavioural aspects of BMW design, for a number of years. I do find myself questioning, from recent personal experience, the quality of some of the components being used in the latest bikes. While initial design focus is essential to getting the final visceral look and feel, quality specification cannot be reduced at the expense of longevity of behavioural design without the consequence of user dissatisfaction in the BMW brand. Such a short-sighted approach would result in the loss of any reflective appreciation of the brand. And this is what I believe is happening today. It would appear that large-scale production cost management programmes have become an overriding factor to the detriment of ultimate user experience and substantive manufacturing rigour has been somewhat undermined. I understand, as with any commercial organisation, that there is a fine balancing act to work the fiscal margins but there must be some red lines that are not crossed. Please BMW design team, use your influence to reinstate a necessary fastidiousness to robust quality materials as part generating an acceptable if not the ultimate user experience!

hello Sir. What computer softwares do you use to design the bike. I used Autocad and Revit Softwares. Sometimes I can manually draw my designs. You only design the exterior of the bike or you also make the drawings the engine and all othe necessities needed on the motorbike? You also do the scale model for actual presentation and appreciation to adjusts.
I m From india and My dream is to join bmw as a design engineer..I m in 11th grade and I am aimed to join bmw for which I m learning German and alsoo dedicated towards study and designing.
After some research I got to know that mechanical engineering or automobile engineering would work...but I m confused ... is there anybody to help me out...😊

grate vid.. inspiring..but i wish the buying public would let us designers create something realy amazing..marketing controls what people want and accept..thus it seems design stands still..I have drawing in my portfolio from 1996 that are not far off identical to what there making in this vid..this always confuses me ..? pab

Mechanical engineering with an emphasis on engineering design OR industrial design for the actual artistic product design.

You don't need to study mechanical engineering to be a automotive designer. It helps to know about it but you don't Have to. You could go to colleges that are specialized in it. You will draw all day everyday, its a lot of work but it pays off. Universities that are specialized in automotive design: College for Creative Studies, Art Center, Pforzheim, Cleveland Institute of Art and many more. You will have countless sleepless nights but if this is what you want go for it!!! Also, bare in mind, this is a very competitive field.
