A U.S. Navy sailor was sentenced to 27 months in jail on Monday for accepting nearly $15,000 in bribes from a Chinese intelligence officer in exchange for photos of unclassified private U.S. military information. Petty Officer Wenheng "Thomas" Zhao, 26, pleaded guilty last October to conspiracy and receiving a bribe. Zhao, who had faced a maximum of 20 years in prison, was also fined $5,500, the U.S. justice department said in a statement.

The term used was "fill watter". The phrase "Fill water" is a mistranslation. "Filled water" is a common Chinese phrase used to denote that a high quality item has been replaced with a lower quality item (Such as an expensive broth being replaced with tap water). Despite what Bloomberg states, the Chinese missiles were not literally "Filled with Water", but rather, the expensive rocket fuel used in the missiles were replaced with subpar fuel, with officials pocketing the difference. This means that Chinese missiles would still be able to fire & work as normal, but would not have enough range to go further than the Chinese coast. It also means that Chinese missiles might self-implode if they were ever launched.
That makes more sense

Zhao emigrated from China in 2009 and became a naturalized American citizen in 2012. Five years later, he enlisted in the Navy. Pretty sure he has a VERY clear understanding how the CCP works, since all businesses in that country owe allegiance to the party and are responsible for developing "dual use" technology (aka civilian and military use). Even if it was for "corporate" reasons, the dual use mandate is still in play.
The CCP passed a law that force every Chinese citizen to spy for CCP. If this guy hasn't gave up his Chinese citizenship, then he (legally on Chinese side) has to spy on behalf of CCP.

I'm a little concerned that the Military is has been letting illegal immigrants join the military with nothing to show who they are or even country of origin for citizenship , I believe this will lead to more of this kind of thing .
Thousands of Chinese nationals flooding our border. All male. Not pregnant.
This is false, first off there’s 3 classes of citizenship status in the U.S.
Illegal, Resident, Citizen.
You only need to be a resident in order to apply for enlistment, residency gives you the opportunity to become a citizen after 5 years of uninterrupted living in the United States or 2 of active service.
Most of us came as residents and work our way up the chain in hopes to become citizens one day just to have shitbags like this ruining our image, I can’t speak from everyone but I know myself I love this nation that gave the freedom and rights I always longed for so I took an oath to serve it to my very best till I’m too old to do so.
I’m always amazed how little money people will turn to a life of crime for. I can’t imagine risking long prison sentences for a few grand.
It can be amazing but the thing is people kill each other for less than 5 grand. People act like they wouldn't commit crime for a few thousand but evidence proves otherwise.

In all of our "Insider Threat" training I've taken and the after action reports I've read from the various betrayals over the years, I was always struck by the opposition's cheerful surprise at how little they had to spend to get an FBI agent, or a serviceman, or well-connected member of the State Department, to turn. 🤬
I think the other thing that was most notable is that often these individuals were often politically motivated too. A number of the IT's that came up in my online training in the Army, implicated that foreign nationals who came to the US to gain citizenship in the various services, ended up becoming agents working for those foreign adversaries.
They didn't come here to integrate and adopt the American way of life.
They came here to internally subjugate and undermine it.
Which is why Veterans are having an immense concern about the uptick in the US Army and Military's considerations for bringing in foreign nationals to enlist in the service.
How many are just potential informants and spies? How many are potential active shooters? How many have no allegiance to the US and just the potential for a better pay check then their home country's baseline median pay?
I am willing to bet that a majority of them are going to become a problem not too far down the road.
In Russia they show this film to folk in delicate positions of a guy who sold out his country and how he was cremated alive, you REALLY don’t want to be caught being a traitor in some nations. They treat active hostiles better than they do traitors in some of these places.
Wonder how the Saudis or the uae treat traitors?
Only one fencepost has to be rotten.
I don’t have the words to describe the anger I feel towards this type of filth.
I'm waiting for them to be in Insider Threat and Cyber Awareness training.
From over here in Germany, it usually seems draconic what you guys in the US throw at people in a court, as a punishment. But this.. holy hell, that is a low balled sentence!
I mean they give actual murders 15 years or less even if it was intentional.
Always need to be careful with the American justice system on whether someone is talking about the maximum sentence, the actual sentence, and what was actually served, because those are all very different numbers from each other.
The media loves to play up the "shoplifter facing up to 153 years in prison" angle, because they are multiplying a 3 year sentence by the 51 shoplifting charges the DA decided to throw at the guy (or whatever, I'm just making up numbers). Thing is that everyone, including the judge, knows that is total BS. So the actual sentence would probably be more like 2 years. And then, because most states won't build enough prisons, the dude will most likely get punted out in 8-12 months anyway to make room for the next criminal and told to serve the rest of his sentence at home (not even necessarily house arrest, just... don't do drugs or hang out with criminals and meet with a parole officer regularly).
Are there times when our system decides to just screw someone for little reason? Yes. Can it be absurdly difficult to rent an apartment or get a job with a criminal record? Yes. Do the news headlines reflect the actual situation here? No.
@@zirconiumdiamond1416 Thank you for the explanation.
If you look into the history of it, spies generally never get arrested, and if they did it usually wasn't for long (the longest was american who spied for Israel, who I think is still in US prison). @@Mostlyharmless1985 What percentile is "most of the time"?
Additionally, SHARP alone, in statistics, implicates that men are the higher potential victims than women are in the Armed Forces, yet women get the spotlight.
For every woman who is a victim, there are 5 men who are victims in that same moment. And of worse circumstances, often, than the woman.
This is not to devalue the woman's position, but it denigrates men when women are placed on the pedestal of victimhood, and men are left on the back burners to rot. Because only men are rapists, and men cannot, "logically", be raped.
@@champagneson9my guy. Spying can possibly have victims in the future. Rape and sexual assault has immediate consequences to the victim. They aren’t even in the same boat. This kind of shit happens all the time. In 1987 when I was in AIT in Fort Eustis, Va this dude was in a local bar and chatted up my table of trainees. He was buying rounds and started asking a bunch of questions about who we were with, where we were stationed, if we knew anything about the Norfolk Navy Base. Once he figured out that we were just Army Helicopter repair trainees, the free rounds of beer stopped and his mood soured. He vanished and once we thought about it, (ie.
