I was hesitant to watch Invincible given my dislike of the superhero genre, but like many people, the end of Episode 1 had me intrigued. Season 2 will decide my stance on the series.
@@astropup9980 they can definitely do it if they're careful and write in a respectable way. Too many people ready to partake in recreational outrage, but I have faith they can pull it off
Wow I thought season 1 would be good enough for you. Many people who don't watch superhero shows said Invincible season 1 sold them on the series already
as someone who's read the entire comics after finishing season 1: season 2 might be a bit of a slow down compared to season 1 in my opinion but season 3 on are gonna be completely action-packed and amazing. But they might change around a lot of the comics for season 2 so I may be wrong
I agree with you except the part about censorship, sorta, it’s dumb that they have to sensor Guns and cigarettes like kids don’t know what they are, but I don’t need to see Spider-Man blowing green goblins brains out then calling Liz Allan a bitch as he breaks up with her in the spectacular spider-man, it’s just kind of shallow to say, “it’s high school but the kids don’t swear that makes it worse”
I recommend fans of this show to watch the boys. I was a big fan of the boys and when I heard about invincible I was like sure why not and they’re very similar in their goals (making fun of mainstream superheros) but imo the boys is better.
Welp, what is "Post" Modern?" First, modern does not just mean "Now" it points to a specific historical era that started with the rise of, constant progress, technology and science based investigation around 1500-1900 C.E. We call that "The Modern Era." Today, we live in the Information Age. Comics like Superman, Batman etc, are products of a completely different era. A time long past, almost 90 years ago - an era of having to go to a physical library to access knowledge, not googling stuff from your phone. Things have changed drastically in very recent times and the way we make art and tell stories have also changed due to the information technology available at our finger tips today. Traditional stories like Superman from the 1950s are boring and cheesy. For example, at 1:20 in this video, Mark is reading a super hero comic called Seance Dog. He's an aspiring super hero with a super hero dad, living in a super hero world reading a comic about a super dog. It's extremely meta. With all this information at our finger tips, how can we create something that's never been done before? Even Superman is just a re-telling of ancient tales like Jesus, the son of a being, who was sent to earth to save the world from evil, or Hercules who is half man, half god and possessed unmatched physical powers. The writers of invincible are aware of all these cliche's, and so are we (the audience) on an unconscious level. They spell this out to you at 1:30 through the voice of Adam Eve. Superhero tropes are so cliche they're a joke at this point. A joke that everybody is in on. That's Post Modern.
@@lemon274 It's just a literary term, bro. It's not that hard to wrap your head around. Feel free to say why it's wrong. Otherwise, I'm automatically right. 😹😹😹
@@Lupin_Oh it's not post modern. Typing paragraphs of nonsense doesn't make you anymore right. you're completing a high school assignment in a yt chat.
Look you can like it or whatever, but people throw around the word masterpiece like it's nothing... this show is just fine. I had a pretty good time watching it, but it certainly has some major flaws in terms of writing, general story structure, and pacing; it's no masterpiece.
@@markmakragik608 For one the show has horrid pacing. Essentially it (the show) is either going 100 mph or 1 mph. Like the first episode is going along then suddenly bam it's going at the speed of sound and you are like "whoa that was cool I hope this keeps going". But then it's like the show -runner realized "oh we actually don't have that much story here", so to then solve that issue the show slows to a crawl. And not in an interesting way, like if they really dove into things that make the superhero filled world unique, but no here is a bunch of poorly written drama that has little to no consequence other than being story filler. On top of this these episode run-times are ludicrous these "filler" middle episodes just drag on and on with not much to say. Then to segue into another semi-similar issue: the story structure. Yes it is cool and unique to have your big twist revealed at the end of the first episode, but then when you get to the end and they reveal they don't really have anything interesting you are left there basically empty handed. All they give is a generic alien invasion set up, genuinely I'm bored and by the end I was hoping for some kind of interesting thought and all it is is roughly the idea you had in your head that this guy is just a bad guy and he has no nuance. On that note another problem with this show is it desperate for you to think it's this nuanced deep-think piece. But, when you really get down to the brass tacks all it really has to say is "whoaaa what if superman was evil, but thought he was right" with a sprinkling of "wait a minute the good guys are not that different from the bad guys" like it just doesn't have anything that interesting to say. I think because the show is hyper-violent (which I have no issue with) and has the makings of a message it is easy to confuse it for something great, but with any close examination it's just a fairly entertaining cartoon with fun ghoulish violence. You are of course welcome to like, even love, the show, it's just when people start slopping around the word "Masterpiece" that I feel like I need to say something. Because from where I am sitting this show is just average, not bad but definitely not great. For what it's worth the way I would "fix" it is a few things 1) I think I just need to accept the writing style is not for me, but first I would chop down on the talking and do more showing instead of telling. I would do this by cutting probably half of the side characters 2) make it 10 episodes at 20-25 mins a pop 3) this one will be somewhat controversial but whatever: move the big twist reveal to one of the last few episodes. For one this makes Omni-man immediately more interesting because suddenly these government agents and demon lurking about have a lot more intrigue because now you suddenly don't have all the answers and you don't really know what's what. Then finally once it is revealed at the end it helps the flow of the story and drastically strengthens the ending and leaves you wanting more instead of emotionally exhausted and bored. Sorry for rambling on so long, but this just happens to be one of those things that really gets me running my mouth (or in this case keyboard). But like I said earlier I am not here to tell you are right or wrong for liking something, I just don't think this show is nearly as good as advertised.

didnt realize the trashbag was what landed
Noice. The editing was excellent and I had no problem following it,I thouroughly enjoyed this but my only problem was that it felt kind of slow
Thanks man!!! I truly appreciate the honest feedback! The pacing is kinda dragged out, eh... good point.
im not even into comics but this video was very entertaining and interesting
