Honestly, props to you and this whole series man, this has really inspired me when it comes to story/character building, and I think you're doing fantastic 💖
Mother of Nature film: Not canon Mother of Nature herself: Canon in the sense that people used to worship the concept of Nature as her (like some of our religions today)
Surprised he considers that 'unreasonably large' Shrinking them for "Being Pretty" didn't even make the matriarch look much better proportionally to me. I think what needed to be adjusted was the size of the head and arms in relation to the torso.
That’s art for ya, the observers of art all have different interpretations of what the artist put forth. That’s why art is so much fun, to me at least.
I think the Matriarch has already been portrayed as very caring in Immortal Machine. The fact that she healed the girl with her dying essence and that she leans into the Mayor's hand when he reaches out to her shows that she has firstly a lot of care for humanity and secondly that she also has some affection for the Mayor. She hasn't been shown struggling against her bonds, like the rest of the Monarchs, instead she's accepted them. It seems like she didn't expect to survive after healing the girl, but now that she has and she's keeping the town alive, she's accepted what needs to be done. It could be that she's a rarity among Monarchs in that she has a lot of care for humanity, but from what's been shown there have already been a few character details established, namely that empathy and the bond with the Mayor, as well as the lack of the want to escape that other Monarchs have.
I agree with a lot of what you said, except for her caring more for humanity than any other form of life. If we assert that she cares for all life with no preference, it explains everything just as well as her being "a rarity among Monarchs in that she has a lot of care for humanity". She cares for the Mayor because he is a living creature; him also being human has nothing to do with it.
Connecting to the mayor's mind could also be the key that the others lacked. In the other towns the monarchs only felt pain and suffering without death and without knowing why, and so struggled against it. But the matriarch feeling the mayor's desire to save so many lives could either have decided or been essentially "brainwashed" by the connection to accept it as necessary. She could still be largely indifferent, having no actual feelings for the mayor but knowing he likes to touch her and just leaning in to let him.
@@kindoflame you can assume that the Monarchs care for life in general since they are a reflection of their ecosystem, but the Matriarch is the only one shown to actually willingly help humanity. The others are all trying to get away from humans, possibly because humans caused the Withering, but the Matriarch sacrifices herself for a human rather than try get away. That speaks quite loudly about her nature.
I think the little girl being his daughter could work completely unconnected from the matriarch. Wouldn’t it be awfully tragic if she ended up as the first ever ugly? The scientists own daughter being the final sacrifice that leads to the creation of autodale? That could be why he truly despises the freaks so much, they prove that sacrificing his own daughter wasn’t actually necessary after all.
You still change the Mayor's motivation from 'Autodale must continue for the survival of all life' to 'Autodale must continue for my daughter's sacrifice to mean anything'.
And since we have a definitive answer to "What happens to the uglys?" we know that she would likely be part of the first infusion for the Matriarch. There is a certain Shou Tucker kind of twisted morality in sacrificing his child to the project and it is fantastic.
I honestly never got the feeling that the little girl was The Inventor's daughter. I just saw her as the lone survivor that he found in a town he was exploring, and he wanted humanity to survive so he did what he could to save her.
Or, even worse.. He encountered her alone in what used to be her home, now filled with nothing more than the dead. And being that he was already trying to find signs of life, he couldn't just leave her there to meet the same fate, without anyone to keep her company.
I love the idea that the little girl has no relation to the man other than that she was the daughter of the last people he traveled with? We see in the film that he's just traveling with his robo men. Well maybe it wasn't always like that and as a dying request of the once welcome company he had he kept taking care of the dying little girl waiting for her to to eventually die and then over time just grew to prefer the company of his many machines and his beautiful Matriarch
I like the girl not being his daughter, she just seems like a girl that represents humanity to me. Someone the scientist latched on to to justify his atrocities/remind him why he was doing all this work (depending on how sympathetic you view him)
Same. It’s that innocence that humanity has, the vulnerability. I feel it being represented not in an adult, but a child, makes the most sense, since a child has no wrongs, no baggage, compared to an adult. And when a being of such eldritch status, is able to sense that, and is willing to help, it shows that willingness, and understanding. Then again, I don’t wanna speak on the creator’s behalf.
Does he though? Death of the Author is the idea that an author's interpretation is not inherently true. For example, I believe the Matriarch went from having no arms to having complete arms represents that she went from having no agency to complete agency. If this is true, then it implies that the Matriarch started off as a prisoner, but now chooses to be part of Autodale. If you think this idea is better than the author's 'There is no reason, stuff just happens', then Death of the Author says you would accept this interpretation.
He has his answer's but unless there put into film there not The Answer's. Just like how J.K Rowling has tried to put new things into her works, like making Dumbledor gay. The Canon is that which is shown and is unchanging. You can try to add to it or remove from it but if fan's don't like it they wont acknowledge it. Kinda like how most star trek fans don't consider anything made after star trek nemesis to be Canon.
There’s so much genuine emotion in his voice and I love that. He’s worked so hard to release such an amazing series. He talks about his favorite parts but also reflects upon the parts that disappoints him. Throughout the series, there is so much growth. From the story, the animation, and the creative standpoint. He never had to make these but he still did and that takes courage. So no matter how bad it is, I’ll still love it.
The face on the back of the Matriarch is my favorite thing ever. The fact that that’s the limit of his sanity loss is unfathomable to me. I lost my mind completely making an animated stick figure for a class once, even attempting this probably would’ve resulted in me being in a padded room and straitjacket for all eternity.
On the topic of the Matriarch's own feelings and thoughts - she looks and, from the description of her indifference, also sounds like someone very sick, so tired and worn out of struggling with fighting illness that they aren't really even capable of caring or perceiving the things happening around them as whatever energy they have is being directed towards simply existing.
An idea for the little girl for you. She’s the first willing sacrifice, the one spark that helped convince all the others that this process was okay. The mayor makes the logo in honour of her sacrifice. That way, it doesn’t change up the others too much but still gives some importance to this little girl you accidentally made seem important by giving her too much screen time. Again, just a suggestion.
I've been reading ideas in the comments and I think this one is my favorite. I lot of people have been recommending something similar, but I wasn't crazy for the mayor having a huge connection to her. They a gave me "disney parent death" vibes.
I like the WILLING sacrifice part. Others are suggesting that she become the mayor's daughter, but her being a random "citizen" who sacrifices herself for the new Autodale makes more sense for me. She's like a predecessor to the Exceptional Woman but still distinct because she witnessed the previous world. Parallels between her and the Exceptional Woman would be interesting without playing into any sacrificial lamb tropes: they both exercised agency and made their own choices.
maybe she wasn't willing too, it wouldnt be a super important detail but her being 'tricked' into being the first sacrifice would add some darkness especially if she was his daughter, like he grew to care more about keeping the matriarch alive than his own daughter and maybe ended up feeling guilty about it much later on
As a artist myself, I can TRULY say I completely understand why he did that other than the obvious "sanity break moment" 😂 It's like : "fuuk it! It's my art and I can do what I want! *put derp face on the backside of goddess* why? BECAUSE I CAAAN!" In a weird way, I think we have all been there 🖤
Personally I thought it made sense that the matriarch didn’t have arms. I feel like it represents her lack of agency. Arms and hand serve the purpose of interacting with one’s environment, The fact that she didn’t have them could represent the idea that she has no intention to try to escape or change the nature of her captivity.
I kinda want to make “There are no monsters here- not in Autodale” like when people quote “There is no war in Ba Sing Se” Example: “There is no Shrek 3 in Ba Sing Se” “There is no Shrek 3 here- not in Autodale”
i know it's been a few years, but i still love this series, the way you worldbuild, even if it's in bits and peices, has in a way, influenced how i worldbuild. i hope you continue to work on what you find enjoyable, and maybe one day in the future you'll return to this project. dont force yourself to though.
A year later...and I still want to own a copy of your sketch book. Like it is honestly one of the most detailed and amazing sketch books I've seen anywhere and it absolutely fascinates me
"Them be some unreasonable LARGE bobbahballonas" and the "penis tower" have to be my favorite comical bits from your whole creative process. I love this series, "Being Pretty" sucked me in because the concept wasnt about actual physical beauty, although that played a slight role, but it was about being useful for the city. Fucking wild. And I was intrigued by the design of the "Freak" and how they played a role in the overarching story. It had been a while since i'd seen such a curious, gentle, fearful monster. Beautiful work mate!
Couldn't agree less, about the "*P E N I S TOWER*" and everywhere. I happened to chance upon "No monsters" and I started watching more. Vividly remember checking my notifications and finding "Friendly Shadow" was released. Good stuff.
Your one of the few men (that I know) that actually create female characters that look natural and not sexualized to physically appeal for others. I really respect that about you and your work is amazing
It’s amazing especially since his inspiration and style is intentionally lude, he created a female character not sexualized in any way that has exposed breasts. That’s some great design work
I always just thought that the little girl was just a girl he found that he was trying to cure... I mean, if he can find out a way to fix her, he can do it for others, too. It would explain why he was so happy seeing her get cured - not because he loved her, but because he found a cure. But those are just my thoughts. Good luck finding toads :)
Yeh I also thought that she was just a random stranger. That case would actually be more fitting IMO, it didn't even cross my mind that she could be the Mayor's daughter.
Could be his daughter but also just a random girl he found. I gathered that she died a long time ago along with some of his humanity or any connection to it.
Ooh, nice! I loved when you talked about the other Monarchs. I had assumed that these were the "failed attempts" by the inventor, and that he had left them strewn in his path to his success in Autodale. That had cast a much more sinister light on him for me, so now that I know the real story, his character seems a lot more three dimensional. Thank you for all your hard work on this series!
The Matriarch's design process kinda reflects the Matriarch herself. It's been constantly changing, just like she does in cannon. I know that wasn't intentional but it's interesting how that lines up.
I hope you're able to do more with Autodale at some point. I loved watching your stuff in high school and actually it inspired me to write about it in my college classes!!
Huh, i really thought the kid was the inventor's daughter whom he fused with the goddess to create the Matriarch. I thought that her leaning into the inventor's hand meant a sort of love/connection rather than indifference. It's so incredible to see how a story develops and evolves. I've had a story i've wanted to make since 2015 that has changed drastically over the years. Only now is it slowly coming together, but this makes me think "why wait?" people understand that stories adapt and change as one works on it. Hell, even most complex series and cartoons are probably not very planned out and just develop as the characters explore
Couldn’t the little girl have gotten into conflict with the Mayor then left, died, and thus pushed him further into desperation to maintain his immortal machine?
I think she also can be like one of, if not the first one to be juiced for keeping the matriarch alive, because either the sickness took the little girl again or simply because of old age. The formerly little girl wants to do something back for her, like giving the life, and life-energy given, back to her, once the idea of pulping people was presented by the mayor to his closests, who kept failing to keep the matriarch alive.
I agree that making the little girl the Mayor's daughter completely changes who his character is. Honestly, when I first saw the little girl I never thought she was the Mayor's daughter. Only that she was a random little girl that survived or, at best, was the daughter of the dead male and female characters seen just before her.
Yeah it didn't really seem like he really cared that much that she was healed, more that she was just a representation of how he is "carrying" his community through destruction, disease and seemlying the end of the world...
Exactly but there is another theory and I don’t know if he explained this but the face that the goddess is wearing I think it’s the little girls since since she has been aging as he said he decided to make a face for the goddess and to make her a monstrosity of flesh and mechanic
I headcannon the little girl as one of the original "perfect housewives" I mean, it makes sense that the families of Autodale would have an origin. The idea of the Inventor making this city and preserving humanity so his daughter and ultimately his descendants can live the ideal and perfect life is kinda humanizing in a way. Although I do think it's funny that you legit didn't think anything of this little girl lol. You did a great job on this series.
I saw the Matriarch and Mayor's relationship as at least being affectionate. The way she gently nuzzled into his touch, to me, couldn't mean anything else. If nothing else, they have bonded through their shared, immense sacrifices to keep Autodale alive. The only beings who could possibly understand each other.
Now, it may just be because I don’t understand social queues, I never thought the little girl in the animation was more than a girl the whole inventor had found on her own.
Neither did I. I don't think it's a social queues thing either because there really isn't enough information given to justify thinking that she is. The mayor holds her like you'd hold any sick child.
"To save some sanity, I left the back completely blank" the *FACE* : exists "alright, I might've lost a bit of sanity" Me, watching this for the 3rd time: **chuckles**
As someone just leaving University behind, your overall honesty about how messy your creative Project tends to be sometimes is really refreshing and motivating. Thank you so much^^
When I saw the little girl that got cured my first thought was that she was just one of the first Autodale towns people, one of the first people to be brainwashed into the immortal machine.
What if the little girl gained some of the Matriarchs powers but vanished into the wild and Hive sent the friendly shadow to find her as a impossible punishing task? I know this will never happen but this will be my little fan theory :D
ngl, watching these videos is actually really inspiring to me. I always feel like my creative processes are so messy when working on my own story, but seeing these videos is a motivation because it shows that a messy creative process and making changes to a story while writing and making art for it and not being entirely sure where to go with certain characters is something that others go through too, which gives me motivation because then it makes me feel like no matter how messy my stuff may be, I can still turn it into something great, just like your work. And honestly, I love watching every animation you've done, autodale is fascinating to me and has even sparked inspiration for me when developing the cyber species in my own story
I think that the little girl should be used with the mayor to tell a tragic story, about the only person who was never used to fuel the matriarch. She grew up, became old, and watched as her father fell to madness.
i can see the girl as being some random girl while being important to the Mayor, since in a rotting world where life is becoming ever rarer, finding a child is incredible, a sign of hope and that life can continue.
I honestly love the arms of the Matriarch. The design reminds me of flayed skin being stretched. It gave me another layer of sympathy for her and her situation.
You are literally one of my favourite creators! Not only is your work amazing, the storytelling the animation the everything. But you are also so inspirational! ❤️
I feel like mother of nature can be canon as a in story fairytale. She could be inspired by the monarchs but not be an existing character Kinda like how dracula was inspired by a king with a similar condition
I always thought she didn't have arms so she couldn't fight back. You might say it's "lazy", but I really always liked that touch. She seemed to me, the entire time to not really be there of her own will, and that was most represented (for me) by seeing that her limbs just... end in wires now. She's so integrated. It just, it IS an endless circle.
Yes! I've been waiting for this one. But seriously out of all creators I can easily say you're one of my biggest favourites. Ever since I found you through this series, you've been the biggest inspiration to me, especially as a story teller and as an artist and just watching your work and your progress over the years, not just that but the wonderfully quiet and overly creative charm to you that you always have through your work, it's something I can only aspire to reach one day. Just, thank you, thank you for being such a inspiration.
You dont know how much this series means to me, this is such a beautiful world created by your brilliant mind and each new video be it a history of a behind the scenes or a proper episode it just takes me away from my harsh reality and to a world of dark beauty that I can slip away into
I started watching this series looking for all the lore behind the scenes and how everything is connected. It would be extremely satisfying to know that all the details included in your stories had some sort of meaning or purpose behind them. However, as I keep watching your videos, I find it a lot more rewarding to see how your storytelling ability is growing along with your artistic abilities. Your productions grow more ambitious in every aspect for pretty much every new Autodale video, and while I completely understand the need to give your audience answers, the way you're trying to clean up past mistakes is clearly frustrating you. Personally, I find it inspiring to watch how your animation, storytelling, and artistic outreach grow more and more intricate with each new installment. It kind of makes one forget that you did not have much of a plan for all the things you are presenting, and it's not necessary to have one either. If you ever feel like retconning or recreating your videos to see how much you've improved that's fine. If you want to continue exploring aspects of the world without spoonfeeding your audience your inconsistencies that is fine too. It's totally ok to be upset at your own discrepancies, but the fact that you are creating a story of this scope will inevitably result in some inconsistencies here and there. Just because the process was messy it doesn't mean that the story presented is. Just because your audience likes to pick stuff from your videos to theorize about doesn't mean you're a bad storyteller for not having included any explanation for it. There is nothing inherently wrong with having the girl who was healed by the Matriarch be some random human, because the scenes she's in still service the story; it shows the mayor's commitment to saving humanity through the Matriach's powers. Stay epic, love your stuff
So I just stumbled on to the autodale universe, and to me the loose ends add mystery and adds to the huanting dystopian feel. Take the very fact that the matriarch has no arms even though you say you don't like it this absence adds to the overall experience rather than detracts. For me it involves my imagination which is what good storys do. Overall excellent work friend.
I love how you do videos like these, understanding the creative process not only shows how much work goes into these films but also helps us understand it on a deeper level than just watching it. Thank you :)
If there will be more of this. Then I cant wait till there is. I love this series. I respect your stuff. You are one of the bigest things that inspires me to create.
A possible compromise for the mother of nature’s connection to Autodale; The mother of nature herself doesn’t exist as described in the world, but within the world she _is_ based on a healthier, younger version of the matriarch.
The joy I feel whenever I interact with this series in any way, is inexperssible. I don't think I could put into words how much I love everything you have gifted to the world. So, thank you. Thank you. Thank you so much. You are amazing, everything you create is amazing and your process and journey are just inspiring. Please remember to take breaks and don't work too hard, I would literally wait years for this series so you are not in any time pressure at all. We are all behind you. And I hope to god that you see a toad on your next walk.
I am saving this video, for a moment I need most. I can watch it now but filling that this maybe last video of this series is far too hard for me to accept. I need to have something in my mind, knowing it is waiting for me to be seen, to be watch, to be understood from Autodale world.... From your world! Thank you!
He can always come back to this series. He literally did the same thing a couple years ago with autodale. Then he came back with model citizen and we'll... The rest is history

Your voice is so soothing. And you have one of those voices that makes you sound like you really know what you're talking about. You could tell me that the sky is orange and I wouldn't doubt you for a second lol
People rarely get their projects to get up off the ground, let alone have in-depth lore and backstories. The fact that yours has, is really nice. I love this entire story, and I’m looking forward to the next episode. :)
When I first watched this series I was actually a bit afraid of the Matriarch! But now, I'm mostly amazed by the Matriarch's design and their backstory..
I like your description of the creative process here, its often seen as this perfectly divine flash of lightning to a creator, and it can be but often it's not. it's messy, stop and go, and utterly frustrating...and seeing that is very comforting after seeing the thing it produced.
I honestly don’t care what the content is, I just love David’s mind and passion for his craft (the meta content if you will) *Though, I still love the content
By far my most anticipated videos on youtube: your amazing animation shorts and the creative process around. Thank you so much for sharing such incredible content !
Your notebooks and their contents, and the sculptures too, are so goddamn beautiful. For some reason, I like all these even more than your animation, which is spectacular, of course. You have a lot of awesome imagination. So nice to see that art is not dead yet.
I'm gonna say this. Your work is one of the main inspirations for my personal writing works. Autodale, as well as your other works, are flooding with imagination and incredible passion. It's beautiful and terrifying and wonderful. I will always watch your creations with baited breath and awe. I cannot understate how wonderful these worlds, characters, monsters, and concepts are. Bravo, sir. If you choose to continue this series, I happily await whatever comes next.
I absolutely love watching your creative process videos. It makes me feel extremely inspired. I really enjoy hearing your reasons for going one way over another and also the criticisms of your designs and what you would change going forward. I feel I learn a lot of about art, creativity, and their processes just by watching videos. Your work is simply. Amazing.
I don't know if this is just me, but every time this guy posts a new video I just drop everything and go to watching it. even his creative process is absolutely beautiful. This is my all time FAVORITE youtuber, and forever will be.
18:31 I really cannot hold back the thought that, I have the same experience. Really some random character I created for either coolness or setting the mood with the scene in my novel randomly expanded in lore as I continued my imagination (just the type of guy to daydream about his project on and on), some guy that will probably die this day will somehow got a expansion in lore and become something on par with the main character on the other, its just apart of my creation process and how I create lores, and I love that. I really now call those characters "secondary storylines" and in one of my novel project I have had over 4 of those secondary storylines now, with originally only 1 MC and 1 main storyline.
Way better content than some gaming stream with zero motivation. And yet, under 1mil subscribers... Or shall I say, “Here before 10 million subscribers.”

I like the girl not being his daughter, she just seems like a girl that represents humanity to me. Someone the scientist latched on to to justify his atrocities/remind him why he was doing all this work (depending on how sympathetic you view him)
I approve

The French made this comment
2 years later and I'm missing this series more than ever.
He’s taking a short break from the series’s. I miss it too he hasn’t abandoned it it was getting a bit to stressful for him that’s all.
I keep forgetting that hes not a theorist, he made this and he has all the answers
I mean, judging by what he says in this video, I can affirm with the utmost certainty that he does not
Now i want film theory to attack this, him covering it will shoot deadsounds sub count into the stratosphere
Actually... He has not any answer, he just decides if the answer is true or not.
But it isn't bad
what am going to take from this, 1. Someone has worked incredibly hard on this project for a long time. 2. boobabaloonas
Pretty much yeah
The face on the back of the Matriarch is my favorite thing ever. The fact that that’s the limit of his sanity loss is unfathomable to me. I lost my mind completely making an animated stick figure for a class once, even attempting this probably would’ve resulted in me being in a padded room and straitjacket for all eternity.
"Boobaballoonas" is my new favourite word and I can't believe I heard it from the making of an Autodale short
I love calling them badonkerhonkerdonks
Humongogongogongolouhungos
I would honestly love that.💕
David, you better do this.
Parallels between her and the Exceptional Woman would be interesting without playing into any sacrificial lamb tropes: they both exercised agency and made their own choices.
maybe she wasn't willing too, it wouldnt be a super important detail but her being 'tricked' into being the first sacrifice would add some darkness especially if she was his daughter, like he grew to care more about keeping the matriarch alive than his own daughter and maybe ended up feeling guilty about it much later on
oh thats a pretty neat idea
This guy has made a rare example of body horror that had purpose outside of shock value.
When he showed that face on the back of The Matriarch's model, I absolutely lost my shit
As a artist myself, I can TRULY say I completely understand why he did that other than the obvious "sanity break moment" 😂
It's like : "fuuk it!
I kinda want to make “There are no monsters here- not in Autodale” like when people quote “There is no war in Ba Sing Se”
Example:
“There is no Shrek 3 in Ba Sing Se”
“There is no Shrek 3 here- not in Autodale”
Yeah meme it lads
Autodale sounds like a paradise now

oh I'm gonna start doing this
Let’s do it lmao
i know it's been a few years, but i still love this series, the way you worldbuild, even if it's in bits and peices, has in a way, influenced how i worldbuild. i hope you continue to work on what you find enjoyable, and maybe one day in the future you'll return to this project. dont force yourself to though.
When you are so early the time stamps don’t show on the progress bar
Except for some moments like 17:06
@@cattatron how is that sexualised tho?
I know this has been mentioned before but a Discord server where people can talk about your work and series Would be a great idea!
Moral of the story: Booba Baloonas can shrink.
I sure wish mine would.
A wonderful thing for many women with body dysphoria
I just don't want it to hurt more than it should when a fucking 5 year old steps on me laying down
They do indeed, when women want to comit crimes we shrink tha booba and dress like men so cameras don't recognize us
What
I’d like to one day see a prequel to the Matriarch’s backstory as well as the other godlike Titans she is related to
The Matriarch's design process kinda reflects the Matriarch herself. It's been constantly changing, just like she does in cannon. I know that wasn't intentional but it's interesting how that lines up.
I hope you're able to do more with Autodale at some point. I loved watching your stuff in high school and actually it inspired me to write about it in my college classes!!
"boobabaloonas" had to be the LAST thing I was expecting Dead Sound to say. I absolutely died
Are you going to continue this story? I love it and I consider it one of my favorite stories. I can’t wait for more.
David: ...and that is why the creative process is so complicated
Comments: *B O B A B A L O O N A S*
As a girl I can confirm boobs are hilarious! (or maybe that’s the lesbian in me talking lol)
And no one is talking about the goofy face on her back
What about: "p-nis tower"?
Yes, this is a decent idea that does not mess with the lore much
I think she also can be like one of, if not the first one to be juiced for keeping the matriarch alive, because either the sickness took the little girl again or simply because of old age. The formerly little girl wants to do something back for her, like giving the life, and life-energy given, back to her, once the idea of pulping people was presented by the mayor to his closests, who kept failing to keep the matriarch alive.
Loved this series, pray that he brings it back!
Ok but fr one of these guy's sketchbooks alone would make me pass my art A level with flying colours
Dead sound: creates a complex and intricate robot queen
Me: hehehe metal bellybutton go brrrr
Metal boobabaloona's go brrr
People were focused on the bellybutton?
Uncultured beings
@@doubt3430 ah I see you are a man of culture as well
UNREASONABLY large boobaballonas go brrrrrr
I headcannon the little girl as one of the original "perfect housewives"
I mean, it makes sense that the families of Autodale would have an origin. The idea of the Inventor making this city and preserving humanity so his daughter and ultimately his descendants can live the ideal and perfect life is kinda humanizing in a way. Although I do think it's funny that you legit didn't think anything of this little girl lol. You did a great job on this series.
Dead Sound: looks for a toad and finds a weird tiny dino at the end.
Of course
I saw the Matriarch and Mayor's relationship as at least being affectionate. The way she gently nuzzled into his touch, to me, couldn't mean anything else. If nothing else, they have bonded through their shared, immense sacrifices to keep Autodale alive. The only beings who could possibly understand each other.
Now, it may just be because I don’t understand social queues, I never thought the little girl in the animation was more than a girl the whole inventor had found on her own.
I inferred that she was his daughter tho
Neither did I. I don't think it's a social queues thing either because there really isn't enough information given to justify thinking that she is. The mayor holds her like you'd hold any sick child.
"To save some sanity, I left the back completely blank"
the *FACE* : exists
"alright, I might've lost a bit of sanity"
Me, watching this for the 3rd time: **chuckles**
I know the "Booba Baloonas" thing is funni, but this is funni also so yeah :p
The artistic process of this man is just so cool to watch, the inspiration and the want to create it give every time is just like a inspiration gift
Well I think I can say that everyone who has been watching this series wants to know more about this character. So thank you.
ngl, watching these videos is actually really inspiring to me.
David James Armsby made the entire autodale series so that he could go on a walk and see a toad
She could be inspired by the monarchs but not be an existing character
Kinda like how dracula was inspired by a king with a similar condition
I think her being his niece would be a much better to fit into the story then his daughter
I really enjoyed the autodale dystopian series! This is so wonderful to see the creative process. Keep up the good work!
It’s incredible how much work goes into these short films!
You dont know how much this series means to me, this is such a beautiful world created by your brilliant mind and each new video be it a history of a behind the scenes or a proper episode it just takes me away from my harsh reality and to a world of dark beauty that I can slip away into
I forgot how amazingly entertaining these creative process videos are. They're not boring. I hope more check these out.
I’ve never clicked so fast in my LIFE

Can you imagine if this project became a full-length film?
A possible compromise for the mother of nature’s connection to Autodale;
The mother of nature herself doesn’t exist as described in the world, but within the world she _is_ based on a healthier, younger version of the matriarch.
She’s just another Monarch.
Thank you!
I love how someone who constantly works on a grim dystopian tale can be so lively and incredibly hilarious!! David, your videos truly make my day!

It’s really sad, I was so invested, I showed every one army art college and we all had a watch party. I get it though, interests change
He can always come back to this series. He literally did the same thing a couple years ago with autodale. Then he came back with model citizen and we'll... The rest is history
He's the artist. He's allowed to do as he pleases. Besides, ambiguous endings are still endings

I love this series, never stop making these
18:31 I really cannot hold back the thought that, I have the same experience.
